Horror Movies: The Last Decade in Movies ·
What a complete circus this is! 🙏

The guy was already called out over at Inception, yet here he is, diving back into the fray by parroting some poorly translated comment from an IMDb user (🤣). I’m just struggling to wrap my head around one thing: once someone gets exposed, they disappear from the forums for a while, then just pop back up—acting like nothing ever happened—and start churning out brand new threads. 🤷 We wouldn't even be having this conversation if, after getting caught on Inception, he had actually shown up in the chat and owned it—telling everyone, "Yeah, you got me, fair play"—or even just played it off as a joke. But naturally, he didn't do any of that.

Jerry Sanders96 said:I mean, I knew he was out there ripping stuff off; even that bit he posted in the chat about The Walking Dead recently felt totally recycled. It hit me as weirdly familiar, and then it clicked—I’d literally just read that exact same thing on a TV forum yesterday. 😁

So basically, every thread he ever opened was just a setup... interesting.😁

Wonderful, more copy-pasting in the middle of a discussion. Let's be clear, this isn't exactly standard polite behavior; something feels fundamentally off here (maybe we should report this to Veljko Djordjevica).

If nothing else, he's managed to invent a new forum term: Powerbeating.

@Powerbeat

You know the drill—send all your sources to the moderators as soon as possible and politely ask them to tuck them into the opening post.

Taylor Gonzalez79 said:Can we please just scrap this useless ten-thousand-post rule for constructive threads? Honestly, it’s achieved absolutely nothing besides just killing any decent discussion before it even gets started. We really need to start focusing on actually weeding out the spam instead of just putting a chokehold on legitimate discussion.

All the big forums around the world are moving in this direction. I guess there’s a reason for it, if you think about it.

A total disaster? What are we even talking about here? 😕

I honestly don't get how people on this forum can't see that posts like this are completely useless; is it really that much to ask—even if it's just one long, rambling sentence—to actually say something meaningful about the movie, even if you hated it? 🤷

Any predictions?

It’s Sibel Kekilli, obviously.

Anne Hathaway is in The Path, and honestly, she’s not really pulling it off for me.

Unfortunately, all the media hype in the world won't turn a mediocre performance into something great.
Mind-blowing documentary on Home Depot in Movies ·
Casey Cook5 said:When I first posted this movie here, I honestly expected at least some kind of reaction, but it's been three days and nobody has said a word. It’s actually kind of shocking; my thread just sank straight to the bottom while these totally irrelevant movies are sitting at the top with tons of replies...

Don't sweat it; now your uncle (who happens to be a documentary junkie) is going to bump this thread up to legendary heights.

Home Depot tried watching it a few times, though I emphasize "tried." I ended up turning it off every single time that little graphic popped up on the screen—I'm paraphrasing from memory here: "Watching this documentary for free is brought to you by..." And then comes that endless parade of disgusting corporations (the ones that basically wrecked the planet and deserve to go extinct): stinky perfumes, shitty soaps, tires, cosmetics...

The film was financed by LVMH as part of their PR strategy.

Who would've thought? 13 Rue Noir hits AMC Theatres tomorrow, November 4th.

It’s being released by Forspan with an American English dub.

IF his inbox hits its limit and you can't send him a DM, feel free to shoot your replies over to ipusticki@yahoo.com.

Sorry for the late notice on this; things just got busy on my end. 🙂

The reality is you guys just bought yourselves an extra two days to come up with answers because you didn't want to, were too lazy, or maybe just left it up to fate instead of actually answering questions sooner..

..and now that waiting period is totally backfiring on you.. honestly, I don't feel bad about it at all, since this has nothing to do with this forum or the giveaway.. it’s just one of those life things where if you keep pushing stuff off, it eventually blows up in your face.. 😉

I don't get why people try to act so smart and dump all their answers in one big pile at the end, especially when the game was literally designed for day-by-day responses (even if it wasn't strictly one question at a time)—that option was only there as a courtesy for people who can't be online every single day..

Whatever... I'm gonna go do something actually productive 😬

Whatever Grandma wanted, she ended up dreaming about anyway.I honestly don't see any confirmation about those extra two days anywhere; the deadline to submit a response supposedly passed at midnight this past Thursday.

So, that whole waiting game finally backfired on them, and honestly, I can’t say I’m feeling even a little bit bad about it. It’s got nothing to do with this forum or the giveaway itself; it’s just one of those things. Life has this funny way of working where if you keep pushing things off and delaying the inevitable, eventually everything just falls through your fingers. 😉

Honestly, I’ve got this nagging pain shooting from my left testicle right up into my eye socket. It's the right one, too. I can't even get a decent night's sleep anymore because of it. You wouldn't believe me if I told you.

I honestly don't get why people feel the need to lecture everyone and dump all their answers in one massive pile at the end. If this game was actually designed for a day-by-day back and forth—even if we aren't strictly following a question-for-question format—it’s because that's the point. I think the flexibility was left there as a courtesy for people who might have lives outside the screen and can't be glued to the internet every single day.

The rules of the game are pretty straightforward: everyone needs to get their responses in by midnight on Thursday. You can either send them over one by one or just bundle everything into a single message if that’s more your style. That's how it works. Anything else is just people trying to sound smart or wasting everyone's time with unnecessary chatter.

goldenhound32 said:Heh, I knew this would happen. I just knew this damn server was going to act up again. 😢

That’s why I dug through my archives to find Dragonrage’s email address and made sure to get those responses sent over before midnight.

But honestly, I trust that jadan Dragonrage will take your pleas into consideration. 👍

Just send your replies via DM to whoever started the game.

total slackers 😈
just send it over. It's up to the dragon to decide when the deadline actually hits.

Hilarious.

A ton of people claimed they were going to address everything after the very last question—yeah, right, specifically during that window from Thursday evening through Friday morning. They could have answered, obviously, but clearly, they didn't.
Jack Nicholson Giveaway!!! (Oct 25 - 28) in Movies ·
Everything’s been totally locked up since yesterday around 8 PM, so I couldn't even attempt to answer those questions—mostly because I couldn't even see them.

@dragon

It would be pretty fair if you extended that submission deadline by another 24 hours. That is, assuming the server doesn't decide to crash on us again. 😠

I’ve still got exactly 11 questions left to tackle. 🙈

And just look at how much work I've actually put in. Good grief, seriously, I am such a total idiot. 😁

Script (.pdf download)

Set against a backdrop where the global economy is basically teetering on the edge of a cliff, we follow a young Wall Street broker (Shia LaBeouf) and a disgraced former corporate titan, Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), who are both on a mission: one wants to warn the financial world about the looming collapse, while the other is trying to figure out who actually pulled the trigger on his mentor. Don't let the basic synopsis fool you—Gordon Gekko is back! 😍 Most critics (mostly the American variety) weren't exactly thrilled with this one. Honestly, screw the critics; I thought it was a great watch. There’s just something massive about watching Michael Douglas (God bless him, he’s fighting a hell of a battle in his own life right now) inhabit this indestructible cinematic icon—this symbol of the archaic 80s, the financial devil, and a prophet all rolled into one. You can listen to his legendary "Greed is good" speech in its entirety here, or check out the video here:

“Greed, if you want my honest opinion, is good,” is Gekko's iconic line that perfectly captures what climbing the corporate ladder felt like thirty years ago. Michael Douglas snagged an Oscar for the role, and even today, Gordon Gekko remains one of the top ten anti-heroes in movie history. Back when the recession hit, reporters at press conferences and in interviews would often stop asking Michael Douglas questions as himself and start addressing him as if he were Gordon Gekko. Things Gekko said in the 1987 film have been echoed by politicians, CEOs, and celebrities alike; even a former US leader once referred to people as "the children of Gordon Gekko" during a speech. He was talking about the crisis, pointing out how we failed to learn from the ideology that greed is a virtue, and that we’re still cleaning up the mess left behind by the "children of Gordon Gekko" in the 21st century. "Wall Street" caused an absolute stir in 1987, defining an entire era of businessmen, corporate policy, and the whole business landscape as we knew it. That "curse of Wall Street" never really stopped haunting the actual Wall Street, which probably isn't even mad about Gekko's return.

The truth is, the first half of the movie is pretty confusing—is it actually possible that Gekko has become a decent, moral guy? He tries so hard to be good, it’s almost pathetic. Is he rehabilitated? At one point, he even says: Movie Quote. Like, what the hell? What happened to the old logic of: Time is money, without the follow-up You can always make more money, but you can't make more time? Is it a total character transformation? Not really; he's just waiting for the next opening. And when that "opportunity" finally shows up, you end up feeling incredibly sad and happy at the same time: the new Gekko is dead, and the old one is back (which is sad because he’s stepping over his own blood and flesh to get there). Then again, the very end of the movie contradicts that too. I get why Roger Ebert said:

I honestly wish it had been more aggressive. It needed more teeth, more pure outrage. Maybe Oliver Stone's gut feeling is right and American audiences just aren't quite prepared for that level of intensity yet. It’s like they haven't had their fill of Greed is good just yet.

I'm actually pretty happy with Oliver Stone's direction here; the film looks stunning—the cinematography is phenomenal, capturing a sense of visual chaos in the best possible way—and the editing is absolutely manic, paired with a top-tier soundtrack. Langella is brilliant as Zabel (that brief, intense moment at the start really lands), and Josh Brolin is his usual stellar self playing Bretton James: 'Unprofitable? I don't even know what that means' 🤣. As for Shia LaBeouf, I honestly couldn't picture him as an actor until this movie. Things have changed, and the kid killed it in this role. Carey Mulligan is just okay as Winnie Gekko. The supporting cast is fantastic, especially old man Eli Wallach with that ridiculous scene he has. Even the script holds up, packed with catchy oneliners, like when Gekko tells James: 'If you stop lying about me, I'll stop telling the truth about you.' 🙏

In my humble opinion, Charlie Sheen's minute-long cameo works really well. If nothing else, it shows he actually learned a few things from his mentor in the interim. 😁

By the way, Oliver Stone also repeated his cameo (Trading Floor) from the original, which personally didn't do much for me here.

I already answered that first question.

And just a quick correction to a slightly inaccurate point here:

Anthony Smith3 said:Hey everyone, time for another giveaway on here.
This round, we’re focusing on the legend himself, Jack Nicholson. He’s got a massive career packed with absolute classics like "The Shining," "Chinatown," and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Along with Jack Nicholson, I'll be throwing out questions about the directors and actors he's worked with over the years. You might be wondering why we're doing a Jack Nicholson theme when none of his movies are hitting theaters anytime soon—well, let's just say the prize is what's driving this choice. Speaking of which, there’s only one prize up for grabs this time, and it's a pretty sweet one: Special Edition Blu-ray of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" released for its 35th anniversary, loaded with all that extra footage and special features you actually want.
Anyone on Reddit can jump in, whether you've been here forever or you're brand new. I'm hoping for a big turnout, regardless of whether you're here for the trivia or just the loot. The game kicks off on Monday, 10/25, and runs until midnight on Thursday, 10/28. I'll likely announce the winner on Friday or by Monday at the latest.
Here’s a quick look at what you're playing for...

THE PRIZE

image image

Now, the rules are slightly different this time around, so read them carefully so we don't have any headaches later...

RULES

1. - It’s a mix of stuff: guessing movies from images, puzzles, word associations, finding differences, and things like that.

2. - I’ll drop up to three tasks every few hours. There’s no hard deadline for individual tasks, so you can answer anything at any time while the game is live (from 10/25 to 10/28).

3. - Send your answers strictly via PM to me. Just post a quick note in this thread to confirm you sent it (e.g., "sent my answer for question (insert number here)")

4. - Once the game wraps up, I’ll post everyone's scores, the correct answers, and the final standings. Expect that on Friday, 10/29, or by Tuesday, 11/02, at the latest, along with the winner's announcement.

5. - It is strictly FORBIDDEN to discuss potential answers here in the thread while the game is active. If you do, I will dock your points.

6. - Each correct answer gets you 3 POINTS, and each wrong one costs you 1 point. This applies even at the start when everyone is at zero—if you mess up early, you'll go into the negatives. Extra bonus points will depend on specific questions.

7. - Once the clock hits midnight on Thursday, the window closes. I'll tally the scores and announce the winners then. If there’s a tie, I’ll come up with some kind of tiebreaker... but we'll cross that bridge if we get there.

Good luck, everyone.

PS: It wouldn't hurt if the admins pinned this to the top of the movie sub-forum to help get more eyes on it.

Oh, they're coming, they're coming. It's just not...

I get all that, I just have a hunch those two posts will balloon into ten by tomorrow morning. That’s why I’m making this thread; it’s a textbook example of how not to communicate on Reddit. For everyone's benefit.

Anyway, can you even see a common thread between those posts? It’s easy enough to call it aggressive—since the first post was already labeled an insult and we're waiting on a mod for the second—but honestly, I don't see the connection at all...

Okay, so you're gay

I know male ejaculation turns you on

God help us, not that there's anything wrong with that. Regardless, it's totally unacceptable for these kinds of provocations to drag on from one post to the next.
