I still remember Daniel's first day of school—he actually had an accident and started crying right there. My heart just broke for him. By the second day, I was already walking to school on my own. Then a couple weeks later, just after those heavy rains damaged the bridge, it finally gave out right after I crossed it. It was just one of those old wooden footbridges.
