When it comes to concerts and money, you work hard to earn it, and I’d much rather blow my cash on a killer show than some other useless crap. Besides, flying out to New York City, Vienna, or Berlin isn't a big deal. I don't regret spending the money...
Regarding the SC music scene, honestly, it might be the best thing to happen to the local culture in the last decade. I’ll probably write a whole post about it on my blog.
Bottom line here is the situation:

I'm looking for two people to join us for an Bob Dylan and Fleet Foxes concert on November 14, 2009, at the Juilliard School in New York City.
Our original travel buddies bailed on us, but we already have the tickets. We’ll be picking them up at the Juilliard box office about an hour before the show starts. Tickets are $42 each.
The plan is to drive down and crash at a hostel.

Even though I’ve basically retired from posting on this forum, I figured I’d drop one last note...
Back around 1980, my old man brought home Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here—that was the spark. At the time, I was just listening to whatever my parents played—mostly 50s and early 60s rock.
Around '83 to '86, I was flipping through magazines like Rolling Stone and jamming to Duran Duran and all those other 80s hairballs.
From '87 to '90, I was strictly following whatever was on the charts, heavily influenced by the Super Channel and MTV vibe.
By '89, I circled back to Floyd, then moved on to The Doors, Hendrix, Canned Heat, and the rest of that crew.
In 1990, the punk phase hit. The Clash, Sex Pistols—it was all about Bowie at Yankee Stadium. That was essentially when my social life actually started.
Between '91 and '92, that punk obsession bled into American HC, and I started dipping my toes into the alternative scene and early grunge.
From '93 to '96, my playlist was a total grab bag, ranging from Husker Dü to R.E.M.
Then came the depressive years from '96 to 2000. I barely listened to anything because I felt like everything mainstream was pure garbage. My only real solace was Prodigy 2001.
From 2001 onward, I jumped back into modern stuff, everything from The Strokes to Franz Ferdinand.
Since 2005, it’s been a free-for-all—anything from the absolute classics to indie alternative.
That’s pretty much the roadmap of my musical life.
I didn't show up. After my dentist visit, I was basically a zombie from the anesthesia, and honestly, this new filling is already starting to feel like 🙂 a total pain in the ass, so I just wasn't feeling it. I figured there was nothing better to do than head home and cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers.🙏

But I still remember 🧐 back in the spring of '99, waking up to see the walls of that community center over on Križanić's covered in graffiti honoring Sebastian Bach. "Look at that," I thought, "someone's paying homage to the legendary composer of the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, along with a few other heavy hitters." Then, seeing "Ciao" written out and catching those music videos on super Channel finally made everything click for me.
I already covered all the essentials in my last post, but I'll just add this: I'm still going to his concert. I love his music, regardless of what anyone else thinks about it...

Anything is possible!!👍 Personally, I'd love to see Hold Steady again, maybe National too, then catch Bloc Party for the first time, plus Godspeed you Black Emperor, Arctic Monkeys, Spoon—why not even They Might Be Giants. And why shouldn't Paul Weller headline the main stage?😕 Look, we can dream all we want. Whatever they manage to book and pay for, as long as they actually show up, that's what matters! I actually liked last year's timing—having the festival toward the end of summer makes the transition into September a lot easier to swallow. Last year was great for me; just the night before the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, hanging out with my girl near a local park... 😍 the roadies were busy setting up stages while we were just chilling on a bench by the trail......
🙏 It blew past my expectations. The Gabettes were killer, and Vex Cesarec absolutely crushed it on guitar—easily the powerhouse of the group, even outshining Gabi, who’s still the face of the band.
This is hands down the best Iggy Pop has sounded in all the time I've been listening to them.🙂 The energy in the room was electric and pure chaos. I finally knocked back my first beer after a month stuck on antibiotics. Count me in for whatever drinking sessions are on the calendar.🙂

He’s got plenty of energy, but the whole thing just feels exhausted. "I Wanna Be Your Dog" still hits hard, but the rest of the stuff didn't really move the needle for me..
