copperhawk19, you’ll get used to typing on it before you know it—give it a week tops. Honestly, I type almost twice as fast on this thing compared to those cheap plastic keyboards, and way fewer typos too. As for it falling off the desk... I wouldn't worry about that—it's not exactly easy to budge, you get the feeling it’s basically bolted into the furniture. 🙂 There’s actually a solid metal chassis tucked under that plastic casing holding all the hardware, which explains why the thing is so heavy.
Was there any kind of workgroup security set up on that database—you know, like if the file was shared and they actually bothered to create specific users and groups with custom permissions?

If not, your best bet might be to try a decompile. Just hit start -> run -> msaccess.exe "drive\path\file name.mdb" /decompile

Was the database behaving itself before you ran a Compact? And please tell me you have a backup copy somewhere... 🙂

Good grief... did you guys even bother clicking that link I dropped in post #3?

Not all mechanical keyboards are loud—honestly, most of them are pretty quiet depending on which switches you go with.

The Xbox actually supports full NKRO, whereas USB doesn't... not that it matters much in the grand scheme of things. 🙂
slybear13 said:Honestly, the way Americans mess with layouts is just a total joke—like, they feel this weird, compulsive need to make everything "special." I actually went ahead and scrubbed all those extra symbols from my keyboard that the idiots at Best Buy stamped on my laptop when I bought it. Look, I exclusively deal with international firms and stick strictly to English for work. This whole obsession with localized layouts is pure nonsense—even people overseas agree. So yeah, custom layouts...

Wait, you’re telling me you have an American keyboard and you're still using an English layout?!? What's the point if you can type every single letter of the English alphabet perfectly fine on the standard layout anyway?

Nah, they're just your standard membrane switches, pretty much like that K120—mechanical ones are a completely different beast altogether: http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/me...keyboard-guide
Is this some kind of joke?!? 🤦 Maybe instead of fighting with that monkey keyboard, you could just buy one with an actual English layout?

Why aren't you just picking up a 9800 GTX or something? Where on earth did you dig up that relic?

Six years? Please. We're looking at closer to ten. 😁 And you're calling that thing "new"?

Look, you can just boot up your machine using a Trinity Rescue kit CD—it’s pretty straightforward—and follow the steps they lay out there for resetting your password: http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.ph...g=en&locale=en

Like, when I import a video, all I get is a black screen and the audio plays fine. So, yeah, I can't even get anything done with it right now..

You should try this... did you actually install QuickTime?

Just grab the cheapest one available—it’ll get the job done for $73: http://www.bestbuy.com/product_info.php?c...oducts_id=9916

Honestly, just look into the Corsair Obsidian 550D if you aren't sweating the extra cash—you should be able to find it for around $367 somewhere.

Head over to Programs and features and just wipe Flash player off the face of the earth—completely uninstall it. Then, grab the versions meant for Internet Explorer and your other browsers right here and install them manually: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

By the way—you’ve actually got all your latest browser updates installed, right?

I think I might have actually broken my Windows—I mean, I managed to get half of it back, spent about half an hour fighting for my life to save some files, but now that everything is recovered, there are these weird black lines running down the side of my screen. I tried dropping the resolution to 800 x 600 and they faded a little bit, but whatever—the monitor graphics just look terrible and those lines won't budge... and honestly, I went from having a decent 15-inch monitor to basically a tiny 13-inch one🙂🙂 please help if you know where I can fix this in the settings; I've been scouring Google but I can't find any actual useful answers😢

Try reinstalling your graphics drivers. What exactly were you messing with that caused this mess?

And what kind of problems are we talking about here?

Well, it’s really up to you at this point:

Dell and Samsung both offer you a 3-year warranty.

quietseal2 said:3. I'll just give it back to the owner and pretend I have no idea what happened? Just kidding... mostly.

Just hand it back to the owner. Honestly, if he was running some sketchy, pirated version of Windows, that’s entirely on him—it has absolutely zero bearing on how you actually use the laptop. Get that sorted out.
So, I spent my weekend over at some kid's place helping him get a new rig up and running—their setup was basically, $75, just an Intel Core i3 paired with a GTX 550Ti, 4 gigs of RAM, a terabyte drive, the absolute cheapest ASRock motherboard you can find, and some bottom-of-the-barrel power supply... honestly, the only decent thing about the whole build was the case. 🤦
