Converting DVD to AVI/DivX in Software ·
Man, you didn't even look—the whole internet forum is basically just one giant, endless loop of people asking the same questions about torrents. 😁

Think about it: you go to a torrent site and there's all the movie info right there—every technical spec you could possibly need, plus the full file list.
PC won't turn on in Desktops ·
You always have to start with the obvious stuff before you can really dig into the weeds... which is why swapping out the power supply is step one. Especially if we're talking about some budget unit that probably isn't worth much to begin with. Is the PC itself getting old, or is it just the PSU?
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
My bad—had a few typos in my last post. I was actually talking about pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys...

If you need to handle a system restore: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/5482/...-in-windows-7/

You can do the exact same thing through the Recycle Bin 'properties'...

As for hibernation: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...e-disable.html

Just a heads-up—if you just toggle hibernation off in your power options, it doesn't actually delete the hiberfil.sys file. You have to explicitly disable it to get rid of it... and honestly, that file can easily hog a few GBs of space if you aren't careful.

Maybe try borrowing a different power supply just to test it out.

Did you actually toggle the setting to show system and hidden files? You really ought to see pagfile.sys and hyberfile.sys sitting right there in the C: drive root—assuming you haven't disabled hibernation, of course—and while you're at it, take a look at your System Restore and Recycle Bin settings; by default, they tend to gobble up a massive chunk of your disk space.

The 5750 is pretty much right in line with what your old card was pulling—nothing crazy there. Now, if you step up to the 5770, you’re looking at maybe a 10% bump in speed, but those other two, the 6xxx series? Just cross them off your list entirely. Honestly—if I were in your shoes—that XFX-brand one is easily your best bet.

It’s possible—though honestly, RemoveWAT is pretty much obsolete at this point anyway. The last update dropped like two years ago.

Did that pop up right when you installed Windows 7? Everything running smoothly on your previous OS before this mess?

Come on, just lay out the specs for me... you actually installed the specific drivers, right? Please tell me you aren't just running on those generic Microsoft ones.

Andrew Miller102 said:It’s just weird—really weird—that the EVGA GeForce didn't completely tank during that test, especially since it's only rated at 230W on the 12V rail. Something is seriously off there—either with the actual voltage stability or just the raw power delivery itself. It just doesn't add up.😂😵

Some guy over in the factory decided to wrap a few extra loops of wire around the transformer—because apparently, they think we don't know what 500W actually looks like. Real geniuses, those guys. 😍

Andrew Miller102 said:I mean, compared to that old Corsair CX 400W—which actually had Seasonic components under the hood—this newer EVGA 450 W1 is definitely a step down. They seriously gutted the quality on this one; they stripped it bare, no question about it.😁

Are we talking "new" CX 430W or the actual new EVGA 450 W1? Looks like you’ve got yourself an upgraded little offspring there. 😁

What kind of pathetic loser are you talking about?

So, I tossed an EVGA 450 W1 into a bucket of parts I was throwing together last week—an Intel Core i3 paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460—and gave them a decent little overclock (Intel @ 3.5 GHz, NVIDIA @ 825 MHz). I ran them through a bunch of different stress tests, and honestly? The voltages stayed rock solid. No noticeable overvolting or undervolting issues at all, and everything ran smooth as silk during both testing and actual gaming. My budget was pretty tight, so it was basically a toss-up between that Corsair unit, some EVGA gear, or some other half-crap power supply...
Translation stuck... in Software ·
File size doesn't really matter here—the subtitles are perfectly synced up. Just go find a different translation.

You could probably take an axe to it and still come up short.

Try looking for something like this—you could probably score a better deal if you hunt around:

Put whatever cash you have left toward a decent GPU. You can always grab more RAM down the road, and honestly, you don't need a fancy power supply right now. That GT 710 crimsonstag84 mentioned pulls maybe 60W tops; you could run that thing on a potato... personally, I’d grab that used CPU and pair it with something like this:

The whole setup won't even touch 200 W...

Besides, there's zero point in upgrading the motherboard at this stage. Just beef up whatever else you can in the rig for now, and then just ride it out until you've actually saved enough for a completely new PC.

George Harris2, you already started your own thread, so just keep posting there—stop beating around the bush, we can't actually get anywhere if we talk like this. 🙂
What's the max resolution? 1024x768? in Computer Peripherals ·
That’s easy for the GPU to handle—but what kind of monitor are you actually running?

Honestly, your best bet is just reaching out to HP support directly.

What kind of hardware specs are you looking for—connectors, tuners, speakers, all that good stuff?
Is this for a hardcore gaming rig or just something casual?
Just give me the rundown on what you actually need—don't sweat the money part, we'll figure out a price that works. 😁
