pet said:just trying to justify the role of the Pavement nations by claiming nothing from Crooked Rain even counts.

No way. Look at this:

Top 3 things from Crooked Rain worth yelling about:

1. Cut Your Hair
2. Life Magazine
3. stop breathin' 😍 very nice

Sandra Chase16 said:Top 3 things about Rain (this comes after like my fifth listen in the ten years I've been following him -> absolutely stunning album)

3rd place Life (even though I think they deserved the win, they ended up losing out to cut Your hair in the race for 3rd place)
2. Elevate me Later 1. Unfair
2. Elevate me Later 1. Unfair 🙂

Sandra Chase16, thanks man, you're a lifesaver. Right now I’m just pacing around the office, trying to grind through this mountain of paperwork to meet my contract obligations, basically shouting at the top of my lungs: "I want a raaaaaange liiiiiiiife!" My coworkers are giving me these seriously weird looks, like they think I’ve completely lost my mind. One guy just looked at me and goes, "It's February, buddy. Chill out." 🙂

If you don't love it, you clearly have no idea what love actually feels like. A total eclipse of the soul.

Amen.

ironcrane7 is out here reading romance novels and actually understands deep soul. High five! 🙂

Fair enough, but don't just go swinging at someone's head and immediately questioning their sexuality. Try basing it on their style, their degree, or even their taste in music first. Don't just jump straight to "let me see if this guy's gay"... 😁

Oh, wow! So what happened to all that sucking up to coastalpanther11? Did we switch sides? Going rogue now, are we? Your mom bought you a cheap polyester blanket and suddenly you're at war with the whole world? 😬

You think that's awful?!

😲Tina Turner! Faster Than the Speed of Light! Massive hair! Heartbreak! Heartache! Heartburn! Pure melodrama! What exactly is there to hate?!

I seriously can't believe nobody has brought up Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart yet... 🙂

Here’s my pitch for a legit Valentine's Day compilation:

Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs vol. 1
Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs vol. 2
Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs vol. 3

That'll do, pig. That'll do.

Sean Lee7 said:I’m just wondering... what kind of garbage portable CD players are you guys buying if you're dealing with these kinds of issues? 🙂

Exactly. It’s like the working class struggle. 🙄 You either end up with some bottom-shelf Sony knockoff, or you're stuck riding a Greyhound bus from rural Ohio all the way to the coast just to get a break... honestly, it's anything but easy.
CDs or Vinyl? Who's actually crazy? in Music ·
David Sullivan4 said:Since I already worked things out with coastalpanther11 for a little loan—given that I’m stuck in that unauthorized overdraft I mentioned earlier—it would be a damn shame if the guys didn't bring some Vinyl Records along too.

Alex Scott22 said:By the way, Long Plays are a totally different beast... It makes perfect sense to buy Vinyl Records that you can't just rip or clone—something unique that actually feels substantial in your hands, looks great on a shelf, and obviously sounds better (though, okay, okay, let's not get too carried away here)

Totally unrelated to that:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that an original CD master only lasts maybe 15 years before it's toast. Burned ones? Even less. But hey, those are basically free anyway. A record, though? That thing lasts like 2,500 years... well, roughly speaking...

CDs are overpriced and they degrade over time, while Vinyl Records eventually wear out. Me? I'm tearing through MP3s and I've never been happier. Sure, I still know how to sit down in front of my audio setup and listen with religious devotion (The soundstage! Those grainy mids! The imaging is blurry at the edges! If I swap this power cable, the sound will finally breathe! Listen to that timbre, for crying out loud!)—but it happens less and less. Life gets busy, people just don't have the time, so my setup of digital files works perfectly: straight from the PC via ethernet or wireless into my squeezebox, then from the squeezebox via optical straight into the amp. Just one massive hard drive with 1,000,000 albums and let it rip. People always whine, "But MP3s are lossy! You can hear the quality drop!" Yeah, obviously... ☕

Vinyl is wonderful, but it’s an expensive fetish. All these vinyl fanatics (who will definitely recognize themselves) waving their money around to buy records just to spin them on some cheap turntable and listen through desktop computer speakers should honestly be banned from public life. What's the point? Owning vinyl just so you can act like an elitist when someone asks if you own a specific album by a specific band, so you can smugly reply, "Yeah, I have it on vinyl." :assholeextravaganza: Invest in the gear, people... A high-end turntable, a solid amp, and some killer speakers actually make a difference...

Man, I'd love to join the vinyl cult too, but CDs are just more practical, ya know?

gentlepuma20 said:Are we talking about the same people who can snag a seat next to a Mexican whenever they feel like riding in a Rolls Royce?🙄

Yeah, totally forgot to log today's feast: two juicy cheeseburgers, some grilled sliders, and chicken livers wrapped in bacon. All washed down with a dark stout—nice, I like. Oh, and I missed logging last night's Ramadan too... That pretty much wraps up the RDA ground beef intake for the weekend.

Man, it's midnight. I really should grab a snack, huh.

Mod, please just scrub these posts before Sean Lee7 sees them. I DO NOT want to know how he engages in food fights. 😬

Kevin Chavez3 said:It’s strictly because KFC is a total joke.

heavy edit (read the reply, dumbass): Bingo! I had the misfortune of letting David Sullivan4 lead the way to Subway in LA once. Comparing KFC to that Subway experience is like comparing Nirvana to a garage band playing in a basement. Absolute garbage...

I didn't grab a burger there, but man, it's incredible. 🙂 It's a flavor explosion if you go heavy on the extra chili. Just be ready for the Ring of Fire when you're hitting the restroom the next morning.

@Sean Lee7/">@@Sean Lee7: Don't tell me you gave up on the joys of an M&Z bistro too. Come on, Drazen, don't be like that—I bet they could whip up some diet version of a stuffed sandwich just for you. Man, now I'm starving...

Carol Jackson45 said:Since I’m already starting a thread about Pearls Before Swine, here are my top 10 characters (I feel like I’ve listed them somewhere before, but they’re just too good to leave out):

Top Pearls:

3. The one where Pig orders a ham sandwich.
2. The one where Pig climbs a tree and refuses to come down.
1. The one where Pig wears sunglasses because Rat told him that cool guys wear shades (Look honey, a little blind pig. Here's a dime, little pig...) 😁

One thing I don't get: how did people actually kill time at work before the Internet existed?

Top sinfest character:

1. God. God is God.
