analogbear40 said:Since you guys completely blew off my last suggestion—Peter Murphy & Mick Karn (Dalis Car - The Waking Hour), which is an absolute masterpiece—I’m not holding my breath for this next one, though I guess you never know...😁

Anne Dudley (The Art of Noise) & Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) - Songs from the Victorious City (1990) - truly a one-of-a-kind collaboration... unfortunately, it's one of those gems that got unfairly buried under the shadow of the main bands led by these two incredible creative forces.

I'll cast my vote for Jaz; the guy is a straight-up genius.👍

There’s a slim chance more than two people actually bother to vote for this or give it a listen, but I honestly don't care. 😁 Those who do decide to take the plunge will discover just how insane the melodies, riffs, and lyrics really are, considering the entire thing was crafted by a single individual, Alexander von Meilenwald.

Steven Newman50 said:I was listening to Tom Waits' "November" the other day, just sitting there letting the grit of his voice settle in, and it hit me how much that song feels like a punch to the gut. It’s one of those tracks where you can almost smell the stale coffee and hear the rain hitting the pavement in a city like Chicago or Seattle. There’s a certain kind of heavy, beautiful exhaustion in his delivery that most artists spend their whole lives trying to fake, but he just lives it. It reminds me of those long, grey stretches of late autumn in the Midwest when everything feels like it's just waiting to freeze over. You find yourself spiraling into these deep, rambling thoughts about time passing and how little control we actually have over any of it. It’s bleak, sure, but it’s honest. And in a world full of polished, manufactured pop, that kind of raw honesty is the only thing that actually feels real anymore.

That’s a killer line: "November is basically the Monday of months."

I somehow ended up installing Spotify just so I’d have something to listen to during my morning walk to the office. Honestly, the sheer volume of music available on there is impressive, and so far, I haven't found anything to complain about.

Aside from Monday, Tuesday is easily the worst day of the week.

Just throwing this out there as a potential topic, but honestly, I think
Undertow is their best Album.

Honestly, 10,000 Days and Ænima are easily the worst Tool albums in my book, and man, 10,000 Days is just desperately bad. I used to blast Ænima constantly back when I was in college; both that and Lateralus were my absolute go-to records whenever I needed to lock in and focus on studying. I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit how long ago that was 🧐

That’s actually a great call. I’ve got one killer album in mind that would be perfect for a themed week like that.👍

Even though I haven't heard it, that reminded me of a heavy prog metal album I once stumbled upon. I listened for maybe ten minutes before I had to pull the plug just to protect my own mental health 😲 (and she comes off very masculine, even though you can tell from her interviews that she’s definitely a woman)

Orders from the dead

Check this out—it covers the Great Fire of Smyrna, which was sparked by Turkish forces, where a massive number of Greek women were assaulted. The way they blend Greek and English is honestly brilliant, and her vocals add this incredible layer to the whole thing. It’s a masterpiece of a song, even if the subject matter is absolutely horrific.

This is one of those rare cases where music actually teaches you something about history that your textbooks probably glossed over.

p.s. I'll post more in the morning; I'm too exhausted right now to be coherent.
