Most of those off-topic threads are just leftovers from specific chats or "regular" topics. People meet, they hit it off, whatever. It’s nothing new, right? Since they can't keep chatting "legally" in the main thread, they start an off-topic topic to hang out. They're just having a good time without worrying about the post count. No big deal. 😁
It's way less painful than getting shut down by some moderator on a formal forum. 😁

I know people—and yeah, I’m one of them—who’ve had 4,000 or 5,000 posts wiped on various message boards. And more. It’s honestly kind of embarrassing. Look, it's your money and your time you're spending. Period. And damn it, there were some actually good posts in there too. If a thread had to go to keep the forum balanced, fine, whatever.🤷

I just don't want people downplaying the importance of the off-topic section, because there’s way worse off-topic stuff floating around in threads labeled as "essential" to the site.🙄

Or like the US section that only has four chat threads, where maybe ten forum members show up at most. It’s all just stuff like "good morning," "my head hurts," "local news," "what did you guys do yesterday," "I'm dying," or "I'm hungry." (Basically the closest thing to those random off-topic boards that get wiped once they hit a certain post count). And people rack up 10k posts on that garbage.
A few months ago, those US chat threads ended up moved over to the general lounge.
And what a panic! What an uproar! Everyone acting like it was a war to get them back. Because apparently, they're so "essential" to this forum. Imagine if someone registers via Chase Bank and sees that the chat thread is just a bunch of lonely losers in the general lounge—what would they think of this site?😁
And yeah, screw it, they lost most of their post counts.🤷 Luckily, even the moderator has most of her posts in one of those threads, so she fought to move them back to the US section. Total stroke of luck.

I see some people (and I won't get into specifics—look, you guys are informed, the mods know what's up, but nobody wants to call it out) posting with cloned accounts, which were made using clones of nicknames that were themselves cloned ( 🤣 ). Not to mention the original account is banned, right?

This forum is just like a small town—bigger piles of crap just get swept under the rug. People look the other way. Or it’s all being handled behind someone’s back. It’s the exact same thing at my job.
Just yesterday they were praising me, saying I handle the hardest tasks because I do them best. That's my "reward" 🤷 while God will settle my actual tab. 😁
