Best speakers under $75 (ideally Bose, 60W+) in Computer Peripherals ·
Jose Martin80 said:What do you guys think about... HereIs this thing even worth getting?🤷

They work, I guess... but they’re weak. You've got a 5W sub and 2.5W per channel—that’s basically just a slightly better smartphone speaker. 😁

If you actually want to listen to music, just grab the Logitech Z313. Having 2x 25W is more than enough to fill a room with actual sound pressure. Those cheap ones? You'll be cranking them to max volume just to hear anything, and you'll blow them out before you know it.

I'm stuck choosing between these two sets:GENIUS SW-HF21 1200G and Logitech Z313, 2.0
I'm strictly using them for music, and I really need them to have decent bass.
Which one should I go with?

Go with the 1800A. They're louder, by a long shot...

Thanks, man, I really appreciate it... you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly what I was looking for... looks like I'm pulling the trigger on the Xonar. 👍

thanks
Help: Which sound card should I get? in Computer Peripherals ·
Help me out here, please...

My son just picked up some high-end Razer headphones for gaming, TeamSpeak, and Skype. Naturally, they sound pretty mediocre on the built-in Realtek ALC889 audio, plus there’s this annoying interference/static noise...

Best Buy has a bunch of $67 in stock, so I was thinking of picking up a dedicated sound card there, but honestly, I don't know the first thing about them 😍. I'm basically shopping purely on price—if I'm spending the money, it better be worth it. Since I don't want to blow the budget too hard, I'm stuck deciding between these:

1. PCI, TERRATEC Aureon 5.1, retail = $60
2. PCI, Creative Labs Audigy SE, 7.1, bulk = $66

How much of an actual upgrade would it be to go with something like:

- PCI, ASUS Xonar DG 5.1 = $83
- PCI, ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 = $118
- PCI, Creative Labs Audigy X-Fi Xtreme Audio, bulk (SB0790) = $123
- PCI-E, Creative Labs Audigy X-Fi Xtreme Audio, bulk = $120

Is there even any point in going for the more expensive stuff?

Oh, right—the headset is the Razer Piranha, and the Best Buy page for sound cards is here.

thanks

It’s not that they aren't a thing, it's just a pain in the ass to actually find them... but like Benjamin King2 said, you can grab the ones he mentioned, or if you want something with more kick:

It all depends on how old the actual battery cell is (its manufacture date). They have a shelf life regardless of how much you actually use them. Everything you need to know is laid out in the main battery thread 😁

You didn't even mention how old the battery is... check out the stickied thread on batteries and try calibrating it first. But if what you're saying is true, it's probably just dead. As far as parts go, besides eBay, I know Micro Center used to have some decent selection, so maybe check there...

For anyone interested, here’s a handy little cross-reference table covering basically every possible power supply out there—both the good and the garbage—along with their max 12V combo ratings:

It’s great for a quick glance, plus there's some other useful info tucked in there too... 😁

Just tell them where you picked it up and explain exactly what’s going on. Honestly, there's a chance you just got stuck with a total lemon right off the assembly line...
Best graphics tablets for digital art? in Computer Peripherals ·
It’s pretty straightforward. It’s either an installation error or you just got a dud unit...

And look, it should work in Paint, Photoshop, whatever... it shouldn't be limited to just its own software...

Even Microsoft says there shouldn't be any issues here: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/com...ices&os=32-bit

When you set up the tablet, did Windows recognize it automatically and hunt down the drivers, or did you have to do it manually? I've even tried reinstalling Windows before—it recognizes the tablet on its own, grabs the drivers from the Microsoft site, installs them, and then tells you the tablet is ready to go in every app... 🤷 My son uses one all the time and he's never run into a single problem...

Interesting little thing... Let me know once you've really dug into it—do you think having such a small touchscreen is a major dealbreaker?

Someone messed up by moving this thread over to the portable devices section...

The guy is asking about a graphics tablet, not a tablet PC, 😁 so this should really be sitting under hardware or peripherals...

But hey, whatever works for you guys. I don't have the permissions to fix it myself... 😁

From what I know, there are basically three ways to go here: you can try Trust, but honestly, stay away—it's total garbage. Then there's the Wacom Intuos, which is a really solid option; it’s a good size and priced quite reasonably. My son actually uses one for his high school art projects, and it's got a decent, lightweight design. Finally, there's Wacom, which is the gold standard. They are on a whole different level compared to everything else...

It's a really solid build... honestly, with a 3-year warranty and everything else included, you're hard-pressed to find a better deal than this...

HP ENVY series, featuring a USB 2.0 scanner, copy, and print functions, a 1.5-inch color LCD, and a built-in memory card reader, will be available at Walmart $133 from tomorrow (Jan 13th) through Jan 19th.

It comes with an extended 3-year warranty, the price is a steal, and while the thing is a bit noisy, it’s actually pretty solid...

Oh, and it uses four individual color cartridges and handles Epson ink refills without any issues.

If you need a cheap but reliable all-in-one printer, get to Walmart before they're gone.😁

Apple tablet in Computer Peripherals ·
Apple is the gold standard. Their stuff is top-tier professional gear. Honestly, I don't think you can find anything better out here in the States, even if it does cost an absolute fortune.

If you really consider yourself semi-pro like you claim, maybe an Apple Genius Bar would actually satisfy you. iPhoneHonestly, it still has more surface area than that tiny Apple tablet, and it’s way cheaper too.

Google some tests or reviews; if I remember right, there’s probably some stuff about it on YouTube too. That's exactly what I did when I was shopping for my son. I ended up grabbing him that iPhone, and he’s loving it—it's great for sketching, crossing things out, whatever. It even has those customizable templates and all sorts of features, though he hasn't really gotten around to exploring all that yet. 😍 Honestly, I don't even have the time for that kind of playing around...

You can't honestly claim Genius is on the same level as Apple. It's just not happening. Apple’s pen is way more sensitive, and the pressure response is much more precise. Honestly, Genius feels like it's built for amateurs, though I guess if you're doing something slightly more serious, it might get the job done. That's about as generous as I can be with it.
