Placebo only played three times...

WHERE’S THE NOISE, DRONFULJO! I just listened to three tracks and I feel totally betrayed... 🙂 Joanna Newsom’s vibes have gone downhill fast. CRY!
Research-based organization: What movie topic or novel would you love to see adapted into a US film?
in Movies ·
a) An urban low-budget comedy in the vein of early Kevin Smith or Woody Allen. You don't need big-shot directors or A-list stars for that—just some solid writing that actually captures how we live today and actors who won't totally butcher the material. For anything more ambitious, though, we'd definitely need resources we just don't have right now.
b) Period pieces could be a killer idea if they went for a darker vibe, though personally, I think that would work better as an animation than a live-action film. If we were looking at books, I'd love to see a high-stakes adaptation of *The Hunger Games*. I'm also convinced we could still pull off a great kid's movie set in a classic American boarding school, or even something legendary like *Snowpiercer*.

I'm such a huge fan of Joanna News. Honestly, Milk-Eyed Mender is easily one of my top 10 albums of the decade, and I've gotta say, Peach Plum Pear hits just as hard when it comes to the songwriting. Ys is also absolutely stunning, and her live shows? Pure magic. fuck yeah!
Are we talking about The Killers? 😬 I honestly thought they had broken up already?
If you guys are pulling my leg, I'm gonna lose it on both of you. I've been dying to see The Killers for ages! 😬

Like I said—I don't know all the specifics, just what I heard. Word on the street was you guys had a falling out and then the Raiders 🤷 were formed right after. Glad you cleared that up! Honestly, I'm just stoked the Raiders are around, and even happier they joined the league. 🙂
It’d be such a sweet chance to finally upgrade my sniper rifle—honestly, the one I have is just sitting in the closet gathering dust at this point! 🙂
Me too. And Interpol. Man, we can only dream...
Anyone still running Windows 7?

Thanks, but my RAM is sitting at 800 MHz, so I'm not really sure what my next move should be...
Anyone still running Windows 7?

Looks like this thread is becoming the go-to spot for Windows 7 headaches. lol. So, here’s the deal: I was running 32-bit Windows XP on an old ATA drive, plus a 300 GB SATA drive and a newer 1.5 TB SATA drive. I finally decided to make the jump to 64-bit Windows 7, so I pulled the ATA disk, wiped the 300 GB drive, and went for the install. Everything seemed totally fine until the first bootup right before entering the product key. The Windows logo pops up, the little loading circle starts spinning, and then... dead silence. The whole system just freezes solid. I've tried the installation three times now and nothing works. I ended up just installing the 32-bit version of Windows 7 instead, and it worked perfectly on the first shot. Does anyone have any clue why the 64-bit version is acting up? My buddy installed Windows from the exact same disc and it works fine for him. Btw, both copies are legit academic versions we got through our university.

Journalists' take on live shows
in Music ·
boldeagle3 said:Reporters are total suck-ups. If they write something bad, there’s a real chance the organizers won't give them credentials next time, and nobody wants that.
Most journalists don't even bother listening to the music; they just write whatever the crowd is shouting.
Honestly, reporters don't care what they write because organizers basically hand out passes like candy based on who they're buddies with at certain media outlets. They don't write critical stuff because:
1) they pick shows for bands they actually like anyway
2) they end up wasted as hell by the end of the night and write reviews in a drunken stupor
3) they spend the whole night chatting with other reporters, miss the actual set, and then feel too awkward to leave a bad review
4) their parents were big-shot industry insiders
Just my two cents.🤷
Budweiser 🤣 🤣 🤣
we really should 😁
Yeah, okay, this is definitely getting way off-topic. Honestly, people following other sports are so much more chill about stuff 🙂 though, I haven't really kept up with how things are going in soccer lately. And surprisingly, I don't have much of an opinion on Athletic Bilbao 😉 so, should we get back to hockey?
Kyle Jackson54 said:It feels like you see the Student Union more as a concert promoter, whereas I view them as an organization focused on student welfare—trying to pack in as much culture as possible for the lowest price.
🤷
EDIT: Might be a redundant post since your last one totally caught me off guard. 🙂
Yep, that’s basically the core issue in this debate. My definition of the Student Union—and what the mother's role there should be—was clearly off, just like how beautifully the mother put it, and I didn't take the time to really process that before jumping in. I feel bad about it, so my apologies! 😢
But when it comes to Athletic Bilbao, now we're talking about... 😬
Man, I just re-read mother's post about self-sufficiency and it finally clicked. I was totally off base 😬 my bad, sorry. $50,000 😲
gentlepuma20 said:Yep! n People, you think making folks happy is enough? Is that why you’d bother organizing concerts? You're totally screwing over the mothers here. The real legends are the ones working at Peppers, Pink, and Beyoncé—you have no idea how many of them there actually are. I can't even begin to process that! What was that supposed to mean? 😂?
I didn't mean to come off as rude, so if I did, my bad. Honestly, texting just hits different than talking in person—it’s way easier to misread things. When I called them a "loser," I was totally just joking around, but I feel terrible when I accidentally offend someone. That definitely wasn't my intention.
You're totally right about this, honestly, but you're splitting hairs just a little bit.
I still don't see why Pavement, Fleet Foxes, Jesus Lizard, or Štajaznamko are jumping out of the Student Union's budget scope besides the price tag. That’s my whole point—a band's cost shouldn't be the deciding factor in booking a show if people can afford the tickets, there's an actual crowd that wants to see them, and the organizer would book them anyway if they were just a few thousand bucks cheaper. Btw, looking through this entire thread, I'm seeing nothing but opinions; I don't see any actual logical arguments here. 🤷 Even if they have a solid argument, I honestly think mine hold up just as well. 🤷 Man, maybe I got that one wrong.
