steeleagle70 said:I think the rules need a serious overhaul regarding this. A dedicated troll could just farm points up to level 80, hop onto a new burner account, hit 80 again, and repeat the cycle indefinitely. As long as they don't get caught, endless trolling via alt accounts stays perfectly legal under current rules.

Don't sweat it. It won't happen. 😉

Moderators have the ability to issue custom strikes. If someone gets caught playing those games, they'll just be handed a massive penalty that leads straight to a permanent ban.

I don't moderate any of the high-traffic boards, but if I did, that’s exactly how I’d handle it.

I put work into it. 😁

That was actually the point—mimicking an old-school terminal style. Lime green text on a black background. It's one of my favorite aesthetics. 😉

I just whipped this up quickly to prove you can actually change the look of a Reddit community. Everyone should just customize their own theme however they want...

Fine, I lightened up the background slightly so it isn't pitch black, making the mod names visible. 😛

How do I change the display text for a link? in Forum Help! ·
hollowsurfer6 said:you could show him everywhere under his new name, like on Facebook

No, no, no. What I wrote above applies strictly to forums. Facebook is a completely different story.

THIS IS THE LINK

Well, it clearly works. You can see he did that for you.

You really think some Facebook employees aren't capable of snooping through your private messages?
You honestly believe staff at MSN, AOL Instant Messenger, or Zoom can't read your chats?

There is always at least one person who could theoretically pull that off. It's the same on Facebook or MSN as it is right here on this forum.

Raymond Wright said:And what about checking the inbox? Details are listed here.

Only those with direct access to the server and the database can theoretically read PMs—specifically the sysadmins (and Anderlon, I assume). You could count the total number of people with that level of access on one hand. (By the way, they actually get paid for their jobs, unlike the regular admins and mods.)

Neither ZgSash nor Tyndall are sysadmins. They're just forum admins, which means they don't have access to anyone's private messages. Neither do the moderators.

I honestly have no idea what category that admin you linked even falls into. If they’re a sysadmin with actual server access, then sure, they can read them. Otherwise, they can't.

Even those few people with actual resources surely have more important things to do than reading private messages from thousands of random internet trolls. And just because they can read them doesn't mean it's easy. It takes more than a simple mouse click to handle that kind of mess.

Just asking for information's sake.

No clue. They were around long before I joined this site. Seems like they've been retired for ages.🤷

The System Administrator definitely didn't change your nickname. It was likely Mi-24. He's the technical admin, meaning he handles the backend stuff that requires admin privileges—like changing handles. As far as I know, the admins are Orbis and tbuza, though Orbis acts more as the hosting provider. You can find the full list of admins here:

jadetrucker43 said:@Jacob Foster11/">@@Jacob Foster11: Isn't Tampermonkey better since it offers more customization options?

Tampermonkey injects custom JavaScript into a page, while Stylus handles custom CSS. 😉

Regarding styles, you can technically use JavaScript. But using CSS is always the better move. CSS is faster and puts less strain on the CPU. At the end of the day, CSS is a specialized language for styling, whereas JavaScript is just a general-purpose scripting language.

ambermason16 said:How do I add this (or any other) style, for that matter? Into the extension.? 🤔

It’s pretty intuitive. 😉
Go to New Style > blank style, paste that stuff in, and hit Save.

Terry Mendoza80 said:Is there some kind of trick for Chrome? 😁

I have no idea; I don't really use Chrome. 🤷
Reddit gets a makeover in Feedback & Suggestions ·
There you go... I played around a bit. If you use Chrome, just install the Stylus extension and add this style:
Code:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("Reddit") {

body, .page, .tcat, .thead, .tfoot, .alt1, .alt2, .alt1Active, .wysiwyg, .time, .fjsel, .fjdpth0, .panel, .panelsurround, .vbmenu_control, .vbmenu_popup, .vbmenu_option, .vbmenu_hilite, .fieldset, legend, .tborder
{
background-color: black !important;
background-image: none !important;
color: lime !important;
}

.tborder
{
border-color: lime !important;
}

.tcat a:link, .tcat a:visited, .tfoot a:link, .tfoot a:visited, .thead a:link, .thead a:visited, .vbmenu_control a:link, .vbmenu_control a:visited, vbmenu_option a:link, vbmenu_option a:visited
{
color: red !important;
}

a:link, a:visited, .wysiwyg a:link, .wysiwyg a:visited
{
color: skyblue !important;
}

.vbmenu_hilite a:link, .vbmenu_hilite a:visited, .highlight
{
color: white !important;
}

}

The only issue is the moderator nicknames. This style uses a black background, and since the mod names are also black, they disappear. Unfortunately, those colors are defined differently and can't be changed this way.

I could refine it further. It took me about 20 minutes to throw this together.

Here is what it looks like (click the image):

You can just change the colors yourself. All you need is Chrome, the Stylus extension, and a basic understanding of CSS. 🤷

Joshua Martinez7 said:Even when he was caught, his account was still active. Even if there were an option to delete accounts, it wouldn't change a thing. I agree they could add an option to hide names without deleting comments—kind of like those old legacy handles that didn't make it through the database migration. Basically, the username gets blacked out, disappears from the member list, and won't show up in searches, making it impossible to click and view their history, yet the comments themselves stay right where they are with the author listed.

I don't see how any of this helps anyone...

Reporting and banning offensive emojis in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m tired of coming up with examples, but I could see myself using :2up: in a group chat with friends when we're arguing over something stupid—I wouldn't know what else to say, so I'd just drop :2up: (as a slightly more aggressive reaction than 😛).

Again, it all depends on context. In a serious conversation, it would definitely be offensive.
Reporting and banning offensive emojis in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Austin Baker86 said:Irrelevant. What’s the actual context behind the middle finger emoji? Or to be more precise, what else is there? You can still stretch "Asshole" out a bit further.

By the way, hiddensailor14, 👍, I was actually planning on asking you the exact same thing.

Do I really have to list examples?

Have you ever told a friend, "man, you're an idiot" or "you're such a moron"? Not listing every example here. Are those insults? You can send those kinds of emojis if that's just how you talk to someone.

There are other cases. For instance: "Man, my boss at Starbucks totally drove me crazy today. Sent him to hell at 3 PM. :2up:"
That isn't an insult directed at a forum member either.

Honestly, wasting time inventing examples is pointless. Like I said. It depends on the context. Some people will always find it offensive, while others just talk like that.
