It feels like every time things get chaotic, people just start craving a heavy hand to fix everything. I wonder if we're actually moving toward stability or just circling back to the same old patterns of authority. Do you think "tough on crime" policies actually work long-term, or is it just a temporary fix for a deeper problem?
It feels like every time a major award ceremony gets "restructured," it's just a massive power grab disguised as progress. Does anyone else feel like the prestige of these ceremonies is dying because of all the corporate maneuvering behind the scenes?
I was sitting in a pub the other day, watching some old highlights of tournament runs from the mid-2000s, and it hit me how different the atmosphere felt back then. There was this specific kind of collective energy—a sense that the world was actually coming together for something special, rather than just participating in a massive, highly corporatized logistical exercise.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the "soul" of mega-events. We see these massive bids being thrown around every few years, countries spending billions to host, and the sheer scale of it all is staggering. But does the actual experience for the fan still hold the same weight? Or are we just watching high-budget, polished productions that feel more like a television studio set than a genuine celebration of sport?
I look at how much things have changed since I was a kid. Back then, it felt a bit more grassroots, even at the highest level. You’d see entire cities transformed, but there was still this sense of unpredictability. Now, it feels like every single aspect of these tournaments is sanitized and optimized for broadcast. Everything is so carefully managed to ensure "brand safety" and maximum revenue that I wonder if we’ve squeezed the spontaneity right out of the game. When every corner of a host city is branded and every fan interaction is curated, does the feeling of "being part of history" actually survive?
Then there's the logistical side of it. We live in an era where the sheer cost of hosting these things is becoming a massive political talking point. I see news about cities being left with "white elephants"—massive, expensive stadiums that sit empty and decaying after the final whistle blows. It makes me wonder if the prestige of hosting is still worth the long-term debt and the strain on local infrastructure. Is it a gift to the people living there, or is it just a vanity project for a national government to prove they can play in the big leagues?
I also can't help but notice the shift in how we consume these events. There was a time when you had to be in front of a TV or, ideally, in the stands to feel the tension. Now, with everything being streamed, clipped, and analyzed in real-time on social media, it feels like the "moment" is fragmented. You aren't just watching a match; you're watching a thousand different digital reactions to a match. It’s more engaging in some ways, sure, but I feel like it dilutes the shared tension that used to define these big tournaments.
I'm curious to hear what you all think. Do you think these massive, global spectacles still have the power to unite people and create those "once-in-a-lifetime" memories, or have they become too commercialized and predictable to ever feel truly special again? Is it even possible to recapture that old-school magic in the modern era?
...Look, I’m basically part of the "get off my lawn" crowd, so it takes a lot to actually impress me... but Hold Steady totally blew me away today.🙏 🙏
...I honestly, I’d be mortified to see myself in a group of "interested parties" on the Zampa or Padjen pages, just sitting there while some guy stares me down... like, seriously... who even asked you?🙄
And like Zombix says, now that they've branded us all as the biggest pirates and we're footing the bill, we might as well just roll with it and go all in.
They also brought up how much massive cash is going to be raked in, and wondered how on earth they're actually going to split that up among those tens of thousands of performers...🙄
It reminds me of that old song lyric... "My home is Bulgaria"...😁
With some help from my glasses...☕
The photo probably hit the stands in Friday night’s first edition, but they pulled it from the Saturday edition of The Evening News, likely just to clear space for ads...
It was honestly great seeing them and Cuti, even if the setlist wasn't exactly my vibe. Still, it was a solid show. I was expecting a bigger crowd, though.
I headed out right after they played "Catch Me," and if anyone tells me they finished with "Old Soldier," I’m going to 😵
Pušenje- Pišonja and Žugo 😁

Today is my absolute favorite kind of good day, but who knows about tomorrow?
See the little cloud up in the sky.
It's a good good day today.
See the little cloud pass on by.
It's a good good day today...
I feel like I'm looking for some kind of Chinese Tom Waits. Is there actually a band out there like that?😁
I’m gonna pass out, I totally drifted off halfway through.....😵 🙂
I read somewhere that they actually built in a noise reduction tool now, so I'm curious how it holds up. Can it actually replace Neat Image or Ninja? Honestly, I’m praying it can because I am totally sick of processing a single photo through two different programs...
