I was out in San Francisco last night at the local community center over on Martha's Vineyard for one of his shows. Honestly, the man is brilliant—he’s basically a walking, breathing GDP-level certified guitarist, all thanks to the influence of Chet Atkins.

You really should go see him if you get the chance—it’s an absolute MUST.🙏

I think the date should actually be February 5th in Ljubljana—at least, that's what I came across while browsing some sites—but if you check the official website, it looks like they have that specific day reserved for some other city in the EU

Now, my dear Kenneth Collins8—if you take a look back at the thread regarding the Lenny and Metallica refunds, you'll see my actual position on the matter. Back then, I stated that I believe all money *must*—and I really want to emphasize that word—be returned. If it isn't, then the people in charge absolutely have to be held accountable under the law. Period. And, well, my opinion on that isn't going to change.

In this specific thread, I was merely explaining what people (who, let's face it, aren't necessarily expected to know every single regulation) are rightfully noticing—that ticket prices in America are higher than they are in the US. And, dear Kenneth Collins8, that has absolutely nothing to do with what you're talking about right now. I laid out the calculation for an individual ticket right in front of you, so if you actually have a valid counterargument—I am here.

As for accusing me of switching topics or throwing low blows—like suggesting I'm defending the withholding of other people's money—I think those kinds of remarks only come from you and people like you when there's a lack of actual facts to lean on.🙂

Sales tax at 10%, state tax at 22%, local county tax at 5%—though I think some counties have scrapped that last one, I'm not entirely sure how things look for you in Washington, D.C.—plus the venue commission usually runs about 3% to 5%. That brings the total overhead to roughly 42%.

So, if we take 42% of 300, that’s $42!!! Which means 300 minus 126 leaves us with $58—and that's what's left to cover the artist fees and all those other unavoidable expenses.

Now, looking at the situation in Canada—where the VAT is only 8%, which is 14% lower than here—that 14% of 300 equals $14. Plus, they tend to negotiate the sales tax there rather than having a fixed rate. So, 300 minus 42 equals $86, which would be the price in Canada. It seems to me the only reason prices are higher in America is because our government bureaucracy is just... well, more expensive.

Anyway, I heard Lenny cancelled the US tour too—which I suppose makes sense, given that the impresario handled everything for them while they were out in the States.

It feels like people are comparing them based on their status as musical giants rather than actually looking at the genre they play...
For instance, if we consider that the Peppers are a bigger draw and tend to spark more massive hype—which I get—I think I’d much rather catch three shows by R. E. M. than sit through another RHCP set. Don't get me wrong, I love them as a band, but honestly, their live performances have always left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

On the other hand, seeing R. E. M. live just solidified my belief that they are an absolutely top-tier band.

Of course, we're all just waiting to see how the new album turns out... though the single is already playing everywhere.

As for this supposed "mashup" of RHCP and R. E. M.

R.E.M. in NYC!?

It’s finally happening.

I remember seeing them back in Copper—maybe in '99 or 2000... honestly, that show was just incredible. Even compared to when I saw the Peppers at the Airport Festival this past summer, I think R.E.M. felt much more authentic, you know? Much more sincere.

As long as they actually make it here, there is absolutely no way I'm missing out.

I think the radio ad for that Copper gig went something like: --- and then there's R.E.M....
