In my view, establishing sound regulations is far more critical than selecting a moderator. As we all know, leaders come and go, but once a season kicks off, we are stuck with the rulebook. (Sure, you can tweak the minor details, but the core framework remains set.)
Personally, I’ll definitely be casting my vote either for you or perhaps for Matthew Young35. However, if I may be so bold, I believe my proposed rules offer the ideal compromise between yours—which are too similar to the current ones—and his, which are far too radical (in my opinion, focusing solely on the top five is overkill). 😁
Moderators generally drift in and out
because of the rules and because of the opportunities to troll participants that those rules provide.
I realize that for some, simplifying the rules and leaving all decision-making power strictly to the moderator—without any commissions or voting processes—might be an issue (and I don't mean you) because they wouldn't have anything left to troll or look for loopholes in. Yet, I am also quite certain it would increase the enjoyment for the majority of the competitors.
The sooner we realize that the current trajectory is unsustainable, the sooner we can foster a competition where we aren't losing more and more participants every single season.
