It doesn't really matter; those things are easy enough to adjust.
The real point is this: I believe there is absolutely no reason not to adopt a better, more precise scoring system. We shouldn't accept the excuse that the current one is "easier to calculate," because that simply isn't true anymore.
I'm not just pushing my own proposal here; I am more than willing to write a new calculation program based on any other principle, provided it is superior.
Now that I've actually run the numbers—which took me just under an hour, despite some initial stumbling, so not too bad—I've even come up with a few small ideas on how to make the process even faster.
