Joshua Price3 said:No, his doctor actually prescribed some medication, but he’s just refusing to take it... He’s convinced everything is perfectly fine—honestly, he’s just too embarrassed to face what people might think of him. It’s that classic pride getting in the way, I suppose. So, there’s zero intention of him actually following through with treatment. We talk about it constantly, but by the end of the conversation, he treats the whole thing like some kind of joke. I really can't wrap my head around his thought process—I’m trying to figure out if this is spiraling into a much deeper issue or if it’s just some temporary "phase" he's going through. How am I even supposed to tell the difference? I’ve begged him to go back to his doctor just so we can get a clear picture of what we're dealing with... But he won't budge. ??
Honestly, I’m at my wit's end with him; I just can't wrap my brain around it. I try so hard, I really do, but there are days when I just want to be miles away from him. Sometimes it feels like his total lack of concern is starting to rub off on me, which is a scary thought... Because that would definitely be a disaster.
I'm probably late to the party here, but my advice is to stop interrogating him about it. He is almost certainly never going to tell you exactly what the issue is—not because he doesn't trust you, but likely because he doesn't even understand it himself. Constant questioning is just going to drive a wedge between you and make him retreat even further into his shell. If he does decide to open up, fine, listen to him and try to stay constructive. I know your intentions are pure, but please, don't bring up how much "better" he used to be or how you don't get why he changed; he'll just feel like you're constantly throwing his failures in his face. You seem like a pretty passionate, outspoken person, and I know it’s going to be incredibly hard to stay calm facing this kind of passivity. You’ll just end up getting more frustrated and stuck in a loop of "what do I do?", while he just withdraws more. Unfortunately, that’s how it goes—I've seen it play out a dozen times, both in my own life and in others.
My final piece of advice is to try motivating him with something positive. Whether it's planning a trip, getting into a creative hobby together, or even just ramping up the intimacy in the bedroom—try anything. But if nothing works, don't just sit there being a martyr. Tell him clearly how much this is frustrating you and insist that he explains what the hell is going on. Honestly? 90% of the time you won't get an answer; you'll just get a defensive, self-pitying response, and at that point, it's pointless—just walk away! It sounds harsh, I know, but once you've tried everything and the complaining just keeps going, you have to look out for yourself. You aren't going to find happiness staying in this, and he isn't going to move forward until he hits rock bottom and finally realizes what he actually wants out of life...
How should we view someone like this? Personally, I think they’re just fishing for attention and looking for excuses to cover up their own failures or dodge responsibility altogether. It’s usually people who have absolutely no clue what actual malice looks like—they just spout nonsense because it’s easier to play the victim and wrap themselves in that "I'm just a bad person" armor to avoid facing reality. 🤷 It reminds me of those people struggling with mental health issues who are convinced they’re perfectly sane, or conversely, those who are completely broken but insist they're totally fine. 🙄 At the end of the day, behind all that posturing is just deep-seated dissatisfaction coupled with a total lack of willpower to actually change their circumstances...
How do you actually quiet a guilty conscience? Honestly, if you really want peace, you have to face the music. You need to sit that person down, tell them exactly what you did, explain the headspace you were in that led to such shitty behavior, and show them how much you genuinely regret it. If there’s any real foundation of respect and sincerity between you, most things can be forgiven or at least moved past. Nothing else is going to give you relief; trying to bury it under a mountain of new lies and excuses just creates a snowball effect of more problems without ever providing an ounce of closure.
Look, nobody is sitting here arguing that silver is a bigger win than bronze. That’s obvious. But what we’re really talking about is that psychological gut punch you feel when the day is over...
Just take a look at any Olympic medal ceremony where the gold and bronze winners are celebrating, while the silver medalist is just staring at the floor, giving a half-hearted wave or a forced smile. Being that close to the top and falling short is absolutely draining. On the flip side, walking away with third place? It’s enough to make you forget every single loss that came before it, at least for that moment of victory...
I’m with you on this—bronze feels way more rewarding. There’s a genuine sense of victory there that makes it easy to brush off a semifinal loss. It’s like when you miss out on the big championship game; you’re disappointed, sure, but suddenly that third-place trophy becomes the new mission. Once you lose the final and settle for silver, the momentum just evaporates. There isn't a second chance to prove anything the very next day.
At the end of the day, silver is just a letdown. It’s an emotional drain that doesn't feel like much of an achievement in the moment because it wasn't actually what you were fighting for in the first place.
When you're talking about an LCD, the refresh rate isn't really the deciding factor here; we're dealing with a completely different way of processing images compared to those old CRT monitors...
The real conversation should be about resolution. A higher resolution on the same screen size essentially gives you more digital real estate to work with, even if everything ends up looking a bit smaller...
Look, if you’re comfortable working this way and it isn't causing you any eye strain, then I don't see why you'd run into trouble. It might be worth playing around with some larger fonts or bumping up the DPI just to test the waters—see how they feel compared to what you're doing now. Honestly, I’m running the exact same resolution on my laptop, but since I’ve got a 17" screen, it’s been a total game-changer for me...
Try bumping up your DPI to 120. You can do this by right-clicking on your desktop, hitting properties, then heading into settings > advanced > general where you can select 120... You also have the option to just pick a larger font size within Windows itself.
When you're browsing the web, stick to Chrome or Edge since they make it incredibly easy to scale the text up—in Chrome, you can just use the Ctrl and + or - shortcuts to shrink or grow everything on the fly.
swiftscout8 said:So, let me ask you guys—is there anyone else in this group actually digging these specific jazz subgenres? Finding these albums is an absolute nightmare unless you're willing to hunt them down through Amazon. Does anyone here have any solid Acid Jazz recommendations? 🙂
Look, who actually has the time to go trekking through every single record store in town just to hunt down these specific albums? Let’s be real—you aren't going to find them. And if you think you're going to have a smooth experience wrestling with Amazon, good luck with that. Honestly, save yourself the headache. Just fire up Soulseek or hit the torrents and download whatever you're looking for. It's much simpler.
If you’re looking to dive into the more "out there," psychedelic side of jazz, you absolutely have to check out Sun Ra. Specifically, go listen to the *Space is the Place* albums. Honestly, listening to that stuff feels like a heavy trip—it’s practically its own kind of drug. 😁 You know, when you start diving deep into the discography—stuff like Lanquidity, Nuclear War, Jazz at Lincoln Center, or even that moody vibe of Jazz in a Silhouette—you realize there’s a massive difference between just listening to music and actually experiencing it. It's one thing to have some background noise playing while you're doing the dishes, but it's another thing entirely to let these compositions hit you. These aren't just tracks; they're entire atmospheres.
Look, if you want to talk about the heavy hitters, you have to look at John Coltrane. Specifically, we’re talking about *Tower of Song*, *Interstellar space*, *Sun Ship*, and *Meditations*. Most of his earlier stuff is absolutely incredible, don't get me wrong, but those later albums? That's where things get wild. They get free. They get beautifully unhinged. And then you’ve got Alice Coltrane—*Journey in Satchidananda* is just in a league of its own.
If you’re looking for something outside the mainstream—that deep, cosmic, astral jazz vibe—you really have to dive into stuff like Pharoah Sanders with *Black Unity*, *Karma*, *Thembi*, or *Jewels of Thought*. Or even Lonnie Liston Smith's more astral-leaning tracks. It's a whole different world.🙏 ...Visions of a New World (which honestly feels more like pure funk than actual jazz), and so on.
Miles Davis - On the Corner (this one is tricky because people either worship the ground this album walks on or absolutely despise it; I’d say I land somewhere in the middle. It’s fundamentally interesting, sure, but it's definitely overhyped)... Maybe even Kind of Blue. Look, it’s a truly fantastic, timeless masterpiece, but I still think it gets too much credit, even if it feels almost sacrilegious to say that given it dropped back in 1959...
The Supremes, Jackson 5, and all that Motown commercial pop from that era (yeah, including Marvin Gaye before his 1971 peak and the untouchable What's Going On)—it’s fine for background listening, but it doesn't hold much actual substance...
Outkast - Speakerboxxx / The Love below—I honestly cannot wrap my head around the glowing reviews for this bland, mediocre mess. The only standout track worth a damn is "The Way You Move."
About 90% of Rap and Hip-hop albums, regardless of when they were released, that constantly get shoved onto "Greatest of All Time" lists. Most of them just have one or two solid hits surrounded by a pile of garbage. There are very few albums where the entire project is actually good...
ari peka nikkola said:Look, I just don't get the hype around Marvin Gaye and "What's Going On." I own the record; it’s fine, really, but for God's sake, everyone puts it in their top ten all-time lists—hell, even higher. I just can't wrap my head around why people think it's that revolutionary...😕
Maybe you just don't have the right gear 😁... Seriously, try listening to it on some high-quality headphones (either clip-ons or closed-back ones so you don't lose those deep frequencies)... I mean it; cheap speakers will strip away a massive amount of the subtle, layered background textures that make Marvin's production so incredibly rich...
It’s definitely a candidate for the #1 spot, not just a top 10 album 😁.
mellowridge said:Look, my cycles are regular and I’m assuming there’s a tiny chance I’m pregnant, but honestly, I just felt like I needed to tell someone.
Personally, I’m not a fan of that whole emergency contraception route; if anything happened, we’d definitely keep the baby. I'm just saying this because it matters to me—I have other things I want to get done first—but let's face it, there’s probably never going to be a "perfect" time to have a kid.
I think we’re old enough to handle the responsibility. A child wouldn't miss out on anything, especially not when it comes to being loved.🙂
Don't let the negative thoughts wear you down. Of course things feel intense right now and your head is spinning, but based on what you described, you actually have plenty of reasons to be happy regardless of how this plays out. Like you said, there's never a "right time," and there will always be some new life plan or goal in the way. But when you look back at your entire life, it's always been full of plans that didn't happen or shifted along the way. It doesn't matter; everyone ends up happy and content eventually because priorities are constantly evolving. As you mentioned, the odds are slim, but if it does happen, congratulations and all the best to you. 👋
btw: since we're talking about health, this is the perfect moment to quit smoking if you smoke or if your boyfriend is a smoker...
I don't know. Honestly, I haven't been able to find anything related to basketball in my area that actually meets my standards.
I haven't seen any actual NCAA gear or caps anywhere around here—if anything, the only thing remotely close was some cheap knockoff of a Carter North Carolina jersey I spotted at a King Cross mall once. The closest thing to those light blue caps I’m looking for—the ones that actually look high-quality—was in that Karl Kani display over at the Los Angeles Lakers store. I walked past there about a month ago and they were having this massive clearance sale, which usually "stinks" of a store being about to close down, so I'm not even sure if they're still open...
Man, if I actually had the cash to just fly out to Miami for a vacation and a shopping spree... I’d buy out an entire truckload of gear, since finding anything for myself here is basically impossible. Even when I do stumble upon something decent, they never have my size. I'm 6'3" and carrying an extra 45 pounds, so good luck fitting into standard stock.
You can probably find a Wilkinson jersey in just about any random online shop out there, but tracking down something specific for the Seattle SuperSonics? That’s going to be a much tougher hunt...

Look, I haven't been away from the forum since yesterday, so I’m well aware of how the process works. The issue isn't me missing a step; the issue is that they aren't even sending out the emails in the first place...
Jack Harris3 said:Rebecca Sanders2, I just tweaked the title a bit so people don't keep starting a dozen different threads. There are still plenty of folks running into this issue and asking questions everywhere... 😉
No worries at all, I just want this thing fixed ASAP. It’s been six days now and I haven't been able to do a single thing on the forum...
