Happy victory day to all the true Americans who haven't let that pathetic inferiority complex shoved down our throats since birth infect them 👍

Hope it’s being celebrated with some actual dignity. The Stars and Stripes are flying high in my heart
All the good people will show up eventually, just take it easy... it's not worth losing your mind over

Patrick Martin said:And we’re talking about people who don't even live near the border or anything. Like, you look at some rural parts of the Midwest—the absolute heartland—and you'll find more people secretly obsessed with that Eastern European vibe than you’d ever believe.

It just goes to show how backwards things are... or, if you want to be polite, how uneducated everyone seems to be.

Alright, chill out, Patrick Martin. I grew up on Burzum, Bathory, Varathron, Acherontis, Manowar, and all that crap, but you gotta admit those old-school guys really understood the soul of someone from this part of the world. They knew exactly how to hit you right in the gut.
Anyone who approaches that music with an open mind and heart can actually find themselves in those notes, even when they aren't looking for it. Doesn't matter what your beliefs or lifestyle are.

Some buddy sent me a track called 'Delija Momak' over Viber on Sunday at 5 AM...

I could probably hit repeat until I retire...☕
Michelle Palmer6 said:Hey, Robert Torres! Just wanted to let you know that all the Euro and World Cup subforums have been moved over to the Archives. They're still totally available for anyone who wants to read through them—nothing’s been tossed in the trash!

Seriously? For a while there, they were nowhere to be found...🤔
Honestly, I’d usually say go for it, but for something this trivial, you gotta have different rules. Why bother playing nice with people who treat you like an idiot? Based on experience, they’re just gonna make a fool out of you again anyway. Why waste time chasing some fake sense of peace... It's about principle. Let them rot.
Look, man, if it were just up to you, we wouldn't have these issues, and you’d actually sit down and write something decent once in a while. But the administration treats this PDF like a pile of garbage from the Stone Age, only remembering it exists every couple of summers during even-numbered years. They’ve proven time and again how little they value user effort—like when they tossed all those gems from the last special issue, including the poetry collections and those deep dives into the NBA, straight into the trash... meanwhile, absolute trash like those old Big Brother marathons from '05, '06, or '07 somehow survives every single year.

Every second wasted making content for people who don't appreciate it is a second too many. Honestly, it would be best if all the regulars just collectively boycotted this whole damn PDF and everything tied to it. We should just follow the tournament right here, and let that summer edition be left to the politics crowd and the other freaks to spread their filth on...
Why bother? Why should I, or anyone else here, waste time drafting an intro that’s just going to get buried in some moldy corner of this forum once the World Cup ends? It'll end up stuck in a dead PDF file, hidden away from everyone, just like the last one that nobody can even access anymore...

Out of the four current mods, maybe one of them has actually done something in the last four years. Forum maintenance is a disaster, and trolls and clones are clogging up every single sub-forum. Now they're acting surprised when nobody cares or shows interest. LOL. Props to you, Casey White13, though. You've always given what you could, and look, I get it—you're not a superhero and you can't be everywhere at once. But honestly, on this godforsaken, forgotten digital graveyard, you can't demand anything from the users because the users haven't gained a damn thing from this place.

I've written intros before; I'm not that idiot anymore. Let someone like Anderlon handle it.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:I remember our games, especially those knockout rounds. Germany stands out. I even remember watching the players being greeted on TV, but the rest of the tournament is a total blur for me. Honestly, maybe you just have a better memory than I do.🤷

I can recall tiny little details without even needing to watch highlights. I remember the name Tor Andre Flo and how Brazil got wrecked in the group stage. I remember the Romanians and their blue hair. I remember Salas and Zamorano taking down Italy. Small stuff like that sticks, but remembering specific scores or match details? No way.

That summer, I mostly associate it with FIFA '99, Carnival de Paris, Adidas's Tricolore, and that rooster mascot.

My real, detailed memories don't really kick in until the Euro 2000.

How could I not remember when it was all brand new and exciting? I was soaking everything up like a sponge. Every single game was watched in dead silence with total focus. Nowadays, watching a soccer match feels like eating a kebab—just something you do reflexively, without thinking, without any real feeling, while a hundred other things are running through your head at the same time.

From that '98 run, I still remember Paraguay and that one crazy goalkeeper—he was taller than everyone else on the pitch and had so much ego he took all the free kicks and almost sank the Spaniards, though I think he hit the crossbar. I remember that team's tragic collapse in extra time against some scrappy hosts, Valderrama's spectacular chip, the way they played with Cuahtemoc Blanco like he was a circus act dancing through the field, Chile's duo Zamorano-Salas barely scraping through the group without a win, the celebrations from Brian Laudrup and Bob Vieri, those bright colored boots the Jamaicans wore, Bergkamp's clinical finish against the Argentines, and a hundred other things.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:I was just a kid in elementary school back in '98, so my memory of those games is a bit fuzzy. I mostly rely on watching the replays now. Looking at the list of matches I’ve revisited, that Netherlands-Uruguay game was an absolute banger. I can't bring myself to vote for Germany, though. Sure, they absolutely dismantled Brazil, but it wasn't even a contest. It was just Germany running wild; there was zero suspense. Honestly, after those first 45 minutes of pure chaos, it actually got kind of boring.

That's weird. I wasn't even seven years old during the World Cup in France, hadn't even started school yet, but everything from that tournament is still burned into my brain. Even after all this time, it feels like I'm remembering someone else's life.
And it’s not just about the matches or the goals. I remember exactly where I was watching every single game, who I was with, random comments from people at home, and my little brother's pessimistic predictions that always ended up leaving him totally bummed out. The smells, the anticipation, the vibe... it's hard to imagine a better summer to be a kid. For my generation, soccer became a full-blown obsession right then.
I remember that World Cup in France way better than the one in Brazil that wrapped up four years ago, and it'll always be my absolute favorite...

Look, it’s not like I was sitting there in my underwear or anything, but if I had to pick, I’d go with that West Germany vs. France match from Sevilla 1982. Just based on the clips and all the drama and old grudges that came out of it, plus that weirdly mystical vibe surrounding that magical night at the Pizjuan...

The game had everything—crazy comebacks, absolute stunners of goals, legendary solo runs, heroes, heartbreak, villains, and the kind of wild finish you just can't make up.

Hollywood is basically Satan’s playground. There’s zero point wasting time on the garbage spat out by that evil factory, whose whole mission is to invade everything decent and dignified in life. On this specific front, they’re attacking non-stop, and they won't quit until they've completely gutted our value system and flipped it upside down. Honestly, thanks to how weak people have become in the 21st century and this insatiable hunger for cheap thrills, they’re getting pretty close to pulling it off... congrats to them, I guess.

The Avengers is the perfect movie for people who just need some background noise while they scroll through their phones and check emails—people looking for something shallow enough that it doesn't actually demand their attention, but slightly better than sitting in silence listening to frogs croaking in the yard. That way, they can glance up occasionally to catch an explosion, hear some moronic joke, or see some superhero desperately trying to escape their spandex before drifting right back to whatever they were actually doing.

Judging by all the ups and downs in these threads and the constant back-and-forth references, there are a ton of ASOIAF fans hanging out here. It makes me wonder if anyone actually sat through those last few episodes of Game of Thrones? I've heard they're absolute fire, like... legendary level...

Personally, I checked out after season four. The way they were butchering the source material felt like a straight punch to the gut. So now I'm curious—is what we've seen lately actually that mind-blowing and unexpected that it could satisfy even the hardcore readers who can't stand the show? Is it worth spoiling the books if anyone even bothers reading them, or is it still just that same overhyped, boring train wreck that HBO’s flagship always seemed to be...
Either way, we really need more threads like that one from Patrick Martin about the best attacking duos, instead of these brainless topics where people think they're geniuses just for guessing a score... then they clutter up the main chat telling everyone their win percentages and how they moved up the rankings based on those guesses.
brightpilot6 said:I can see where they're coming from; if I were walking in here for the first time, I might actually mistake this for a gaming periodical.

But then again, wouldn't moving to a standalone publication just be cosmetic? The real issues run much deeper than that. It’s less about pushing away potential new contributors like Byron M or even ruggedjackal46, and more about how much it hurts those of us who still remember when things were actually better.☕.

When it comes to why this place is such a mess right now, the blame lies mostly with us users since we're the ones making the content, followed by a moderation team that’s hit an all-time low in terms of engagement—which is pretty obvious given how much this thread is being ignored. To top it all off, the technical glitches on this forum are straight-up ridiculous; you'd expect basic features to work seamlessly on any decent American platform, yet here, they've become some impossible luxury...
Still, despite the chaos, you can't deny that wherever there's debate, trolling, or actual life, you occasionally get some fresh blood. You see newbies popping up on Reddit or Twitter who can actually string a coherent thought together, so it's not like things can't improve—people just don't want to put in the effort. A good starting point would be for the entire mod team to just step aside and let others take over, assuming they have even a shred of conscience left, because clearly, they don't.

I used to genuinely enjoy this forum, but now it feels more like a chore, like some weird ritual where I check in just to see what people are rambling about regarding trending topics. Even though my interest in football is tanking, I still hate seeing the direction this is heading. I think it could be better, more fun for everyone... just my two cents, don't take it personally. God bless you all.
brightpilot6 said:This whole way we follow sports is reaching its expiration date. We aren't seeing enough high-quality new blood coming through the gates; in fact, for years now, it feels like more people are walking out than walking in. The old guard, those once-energetic forum veterans, have already devolved into grumpy, cynical skeptics facing an early mid-life crisis, much like Robert Torres. For the younger generation, this style of communication feels sluggish, unappealing, and just too much work. Why bother weighing every word or carefully structuring a conversation just to be taken seriously, when you can just drop a snarky one-liner on Facebook and have it instantly blasted in front of hundreds of people?

It’s true that this way of talking doesn't really pull in the younger generation, and platforms like this are basically doomed in the long run. But instead of stressing over it, we should just focus on making things more fun for those of us who actually still hang out here...
There are still people here who genuinely want to debate stuff. You can't deny that there are a few specific topics where discussions stay heated and keep drawing in new visitors. We should probably try to cater to them by dropping interesting new threads or breathing life into older ones that actually have potential, rather than diluting everything with ten different threads about video games and endless chats about gaming subcultures.

Ashley Bailey6 said:Everything has its audience.

Don't be babies.

Everything has an audience, sure, but everything also has its place. This shouldn't turn into a message board for video games.

Gaming threads are fine as extra content, but if six out of the ten hottest topics on the front page are all about video games, then it's pretty obvious this place is circling the drain...
Games and stuff are harmless enough on their own, but the absolute state of this forum says it all. Management spends way more energy policing and tidying things up than actually trying to spark a conversation. It’s pretty much why this corner of the internet turned into a graveyard, aside from maybe two or three threads kept alive solely by a handful of trolls.

whatever, I guess most of you prefer it this way. go ahead and play your games then...
Seriously, how many more games and apps do you guys need 🤣🤣

Fantasy Premier League, PL predictor, Champions League predictor, World Cup qualifier predictor, ATD (the only one actually worth a damn). Maybe I missed a few?

It’s gotten to the point where people are actually debating and arguing over this PDF... Just rename this entire sub to "Football Games & Apps" so we can finally put this whole thing to bed...

Keith Miller30 said:As Zinedine Zidane pointed out, there isn't much left to say about this situation. It reminds me of that recent tragedy involving the young woman; it’s often those who seem to have everything handed to them on a silver platter who struggle most to value what they actually possess. If these people had been sent out to work a field instead of driving around in Mercedes-Benz cars since they were eighteen, wouldn't they be thinking quite differently?

ugh ☕

If he’d spent his time swinging an axe or hauling bags of cement instead of posing for Facebook with the grumpiest face imaginable in front of some luxury ride he didn't even earn—decked out in gold and silver chains—maybe we wouldn't be here...

but who knows, maybe we would...

Casey White13 said:Look at Muniaina—just some kid from the streets. 🤣

It’s honestly kind of pathetic when people like that need this much validation just to feel like they've made it.

That greasy loser Muniaina seriously looks like he belongs as a background extra in a gritty Netflix crime drama.

But De Gea is an even bigger tool; the guy needs a saint to guide him, yet here he is hanging out with some bottom-of-the-barrel trash. What's the point of having money, youth, and a dream job if you're totally hollow as a person and even emptier in the head...

Paul Sanders5 said:That’s why Robert Torres won't even step foot near the place—he knows damn well we run the show over there. Whatever, let him stay away. People need to know who's actually in charge.

Send me the link to that forum where those little mandrill brats are acting tough, so I can go pull their ears and fry them on a grill... 👍
