Where on earth did you guys find that movie / series?
Aladdin 2019 in Movies ·
Watched this without setting the bar too high, mostly just because Guy Ritchie was involved. Honestly? It worked. Even the musical numbers—I didn't feel the need to skip them. I'm not usually a fan of Will Smith, but he actually pulled off the role of Genie quite well. Jafar, on the other hand, felt totally unconvincing.

Pretty solid. You can definitely feel that certain Del Toro magic is missing, but they make up for it with a faster pace and much more intense action. I was worried the humor might fall flat, but I shouldn't have been—it stays fun and breezy right up until things get brutal. My only real gripe is with Hellboy's sidekicks; neither the jaguar Daimio nor the psychic Alice really did it for me. On the bright side, Milla Jovovich 🙏 just keeps getting better with age.

The new action flick from Luc Besson. Beautiful Anna Poliatov plays a government hitman. A hitwoman, to be precise. 😁 That’s pretty much all we know about the plot. If you can't figure it out from her name, the poster features scattered Matryoshka dolls, which implies Anna is Russian.

Sasha Luss takes the lead—you might remember her as Princess Liho Minna from Besson's previous film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Based on the trailer, she’s clearly put in the work; her shooting skills look solid, and she handles combat like John Wick in his prime.

Luc Besson can still pull off surprises, but lately, he's been recycling his old hits way too much. Stylistically, this feels a lot like Nikita or Leon, though it leans closest to Lucy. Let's just hope this one turns out better than his recent stuff.

The final trailer... things are about to get bloody 🍿

Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018) in Movies ·
I'll admit, I was nervous, but this movie is way better than the trailer let on. Simply put: it's Gilliam's best work since 12 Monkeys. You can see all his previous films reflected in this one—honestly, it feels like the way 8 1/2 works for Fellini. And Adam Driver? The guy is unstoppable. Give him five years, maybe less, and he'll be holding an Oscar, depending on what he signs onto next.

Jonathan Pryce 🙏

Joana Ribeiro (Angelica) 🙏 I can barely look this woman in the eye when she's wearing that low-cut red dress 😍

Lawrence Booth2 said:I'm about 200 pages into the book and I honestly can't figure out how they'll adapt this. Half the plot points are just filler. 😁
They should probably just grab two or three decent chapters and run with that.

The film only uses the core premise of the Don Quixote book. It’s not some beat-for-beat adaptation.

rowdyangler said:I saw it at AMC Theatres a few weeks back. But after watching two more of his films, I felt like I had to say something about his—how should I put it?—his specific Terry Gilliam style.

Hmm. I didn't even realize they were showing it here. No promotion whatsoever.

Where did you catch the movie?

Anarchy in Sweden.

Not really, but the vocals...

Iggy Pop! 😁

It looks like it’ll be good, but that voice of David Harbour's 🤦 I’m probably going to have to watch the trailer 657 times just to get used to it before the movie actually drops.

Biggest flop of the year? Word on the street is it barely pulled in a third of its budget.
Hellboy (2019) in Movies ·
Hellboy tends to be pretty sarcastic, but you can tell Harbour definitely carries a bit of that Perlman charisma. Milla's film will carry the whole thing. 😁

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but Mortal Engines is just the first book in a four-part series. I'm reading it now, and the author, Philip Reeve, is actually really happy with how the movie turned out. 😁 By the way, the first novel was released here under the title deadly machine.

Nothing really jumps out at me from this teaser trailer... I just hope Guy Ritchie actually pulled it off.

People online are talking it up, but honestly? It looks like a mashup of young adult tropes and a cheap rip-off of Howl's Moving Castle and Mad Max. I'm really not digging that ☕
vibe or the female lead with the facial scar.

Honestly, if I can even make a call after just two trailers, this feels a lot like Baron Munchausen.

I’m checking this out mainly because they filmed it right in my neck of the woods, over at ZGV 😁
