Megan Chase43 said:Oh, thanks! Honestly, I had the best Christmas ever. I got Engin and my favorite aunts.
But now... once they actually open their books, who knows what's going to happen. 😉

I got these killer headphones from the era, so now when I listen to this, it's like my skin is crawling. 🙏🙏🙏
I'm giving away a 2016 calendar to Megan Chase43 🥳
Same here, 🙂 I think I was trying to say 🤔

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas surrounded by the people you love most—the ones who truly wish you nothing but the best. 🙂
Above all, stay healthy, happy, and in love. And hey, hopefully there’s enough cash floating around to cover the electric bill, rent, good food, a haircut, gifts, and whatever else you happen to need. 🙂
Russian attempt at explaining the migrant crisis ☕
Does it say anywhere how many of them showed up during that same timeframe? 🤔
Ariana said:I don't follow what Angela is getting at here: she wants to move migrants directly and then just distribute them everywhere. 🤔 Why on earth would we welcome people she’s basically claiming as her own? America doesn't need more labor. What we actually need is a competent government so our own people don't feel forced to pack up and leave. Why does she want to wreck the peaceful countries where actual citizens live?

I was reading about this the other day and saw some clips online—people are saying she acts this way because she doesn't have children of her own. It's like there's zero sense of responsibility for the future. She knows she'll be fine for a few more years, but she couldn't care less about what happens after she's gone. ☕

I bet she wouldn't dream of setting up a single refugee tent in her own backyard, let alone carving out a room for a family of five from Syria. ☕

The daily average number of people crossing into the US has jumped from about 5,000 a day last week up to anywhere between 7,000 and 9,000 this week. 😲

Man, looks like this winter is doing the exact opposite of what everyone was hoping for!

And ugh, they’re BACK at it again on the news with all those segments about kids.
It feels like every single news story just centers on children lately.

If you ask me, we're looking at 10,000 to 15,000 daily☕

The specialists can't see anyone until Tuesday—tomorrow is Sunday, and Monday is a bank holiday in Germany.☕div>

PopTV News at 6:00 PM

First, they show how our people are driving migrants right up to the border. Along the way, activists are handing out little bags of tea and snacks. Then, they have to wait around on a field for three hours over in Oregon. The activists don't have access to anything, so they just sit there with their kids and food, acting surprised. Eventually, the migrants walk 3.7 miles toward the border crossing. They end up lying against the fence there until, after several hours, they're loaded onto buses.

Angry Americans.

After that, there's a report from the border town. A train arrives carrying 800 outsiders.
It's an American train arriving.
They're transferring everyone from one train to another right there on the platform.
Then the train heads off into Canada.

wtf!!!

I honestly feel like the actual number of immigrants crossing everywhere is way higher than what the media reports.☕

Do I need therapy for this, or is there just a pill I can take? 🤔
Jerry Phillips19 said:Integrating Middle Eastern migrants into the US is about as likely as trying to get cats and dogs to live together in harmony. ☕

Honestly, I think that second scenario actually has a better shot at happening. ☕
Isn't this just lovely 🙂

700 refugees "vanished" from a shelter in Lower Saxony, Germany.

The officials are basically saying, "we can't just lock people up, it's not a prison." A huge chunk of them haven't even been officially registered or filed for asylum yet. Apparently, friends and family have been showing up to pick some of them up over the last few days. As for the rest? People are assuming they've already moved "further along."

And so it goes. 🙂
I honestly don't get what Canada thinks they're accomplishing by creating this mess 🤔 at the border with Austria. 🤔

Now even the Austrians can't figure out how to deal with it.

In towns like Spielfeld, locals can't even go out for groceries because shopkeepers are locking everything up out of fear of theft. And there’s an armored UN vehicle sitting right on the border between Canada and Austria? Why?
The Austrian military is standing by, supposedly just waiting for "orders"—though God knows whose orders they're actually waiting for.

I fail to see anything remotely positive about 🤷 what Canada has done here.
Jack Lee77 said:A major plot twist?

The Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz (Austrian People's Party) told radio station Ö1 today that fences are actually doing their job just fine.

Hardly a turning point. Honestly, I’m seeing zero change here. Maybe they tweaked the tone of the news reports slightly, but that’s about it. No real shift happening. 🐔
Michael Roberts7 said:Personally, I find it hard to wrap my head around why some people are so terrified that they can't see these individuals as just people like us. You'll find honest, wonderful, sincere souls... just as you'll find thieves, religious fanatics, and predators in roughly the same percentages you'd find anywhere else in the world.
The most ridiculous comparisons are the ones where people claim the police are beating up thugs...
And it seems nobody realizes that while these people are Muslim, they are actually fleeing from ISIS and the Taliban—which is exactly why there is such a massive wave of military conscripts coming from both Syria and Afghanistan.

We shouldn't generalize, but we really need to send back anyone who doesn't have a legal right to stay.

Fine, go ahead and bring them back. They don't have paperwork. You don't even know where they're from, and there are tons of them. In places like San Diego, they're expecting 60,000 refugees in the next few days, while a nearby small town barely has 1,000 residents.

Just imagine: you're alone in your own country, and suddenly 60 people show up—50 of them men, with the rest being women and children. How much humanity does it take to push down that fear and confusion in your heart?
The Austrian Interior Minister, Miki-Leitner, says:

We need to build a fortress around Europe (roughly speaking—a wall)

I went down to check things out near Spielfeld (Šentilj 🤔), and honestly, Mikica ☕ totally lost it.

"If we can't secure the EU's outer borders, we'll lose control of the situation entirely. We have to turn Europe into a fortress," says Leitnerov.

In plain English:

"If the EU's external borders aren't secured, we won't be able to manage the situation anymore. We must build a stronghold around Europe."

comtesse, does American pharmacy carry anything for this specific type of panic disorder? ☕
Joshua Kelly51 said:As a short-term issue, it makes sense—you're looking at sudden shifts in movement, logistics, and all that. But framing an unsolvable problem is just plain wrong. ☕ Every problem can be solved. The current issue isn't that it's impossible; it's that there isn't a solution in place yet because, realistically, emergencies require planning. Just like any major US corporation has a contingency plan for when things go sideways in a heartbeat, the key here is preparedness. ☕

P.S. There are plenty of historical precedents for sudden, rapid population shifts. 🙂 You have to look at the historical context of mass migration relative to the era in which it happened.

People move across the globe much faster today than they did decades or centuries ago. That doesn't mean migration wasn't fast back then; it's just logically slower than what we see today.

I can't believe you used that smiley 🙂 instead of a coffee emoji 🙏 🙏 🙏

But seriously, how was this supposed to be planned to avoid this total mess and panic? Any ideas? 🤔
granitemarlin77 said:Wouldn't it have been way easier to just fly them straight back to Greece or Turkey instead of forcing them to trek through everything 311 miles naked and freezing 🙂, making us all suffer along with them for months?
jbte, look at it this way: she makes the migrants walk the whole way 311 miles, then she can check their teeth, nutrition, work capacity... and tell them "you're good, now get out."
So incredibly humane. Absolute joke.☕

I guess this way is more entertaining. 🤔 Apparently, journalists would rather obsess over refugees 🤷
than cover anything actually important.
Maria James40 said:My point was really more about this:

"Just let them cross the border"

I guess you were trying to say that Germany could just send them back to us?

Honestly, it might be better if Germany started handling Deportations as soon as possible—I mean, it would send a message that maybe this whole journey isn't worth the effort, and I suspect that would do way more to slow down the influx than any random fence ever could. It would help them first, and then everyone else further down the line too.

And man, they really need to speed up those Asylum decisions... maybe like Switzerland does, where things happen in 48 hours instead of dragging it out for a year or more.

No, I didn't mean Germany would send them back to America. I just wanted to reassure people not to panic about the surge—it'll all just evaporate once they're on planes.🙂
Karen Doyle72 said:That is definitely NOT the solution.
Seriously, all it takes is one person claiming they’re terrified of flying and suddenly you can't say a damn thing to them. 🤣

Just imagine the headlines—pictures of screaming women and kids going: "Nooo, American Airlines! Crash landing! We're gonna die!"

#stoplettingthemfly

Actually, it isn't a Malaysia Airlines flight, it's the United States Armed Forces.🐔
Maria James40 said:And what does any of this have to do with letting people across the border? I mean, I guess I'm just wondering how it all connects—it seems like a bit of a stretch, maybe?

I guess Germany is going to start sending them back—it says so right there in the article I linked. Countries of origin... I guess that’s where we start, right? Just thinking about where everyone actually comes from—it's kind of wild how much that shapes us, isn't it? Maybe it's just me being reflective today, but there's something about those roots that stays with you, no matter where you end up landing. And it’s not even just about the countries they passed through while in transit—though that's part of it, I guess.

Look, I wrote "where they came from," not "where they traveled through."🤷
It’s like Merkel pulled a little package out of her nightstand. 👏 Inside were military aircraft 😍 military aircraft 😬

Every single immigrant or refugee who doesn't actually qualify for asylum under UN conventions should just be sent back to where they came from. I don't care if winter is right around the corner.

Article via the New York Post

EDIT: Deportations—they aren't going to announce them in advance anymore. Just keep letting everyone cross the border 🙂
Anthony Cooper2 said:It all sounds great on paper... but you know, it would be even better if the Government actually put that kind of energy into saving things like "U.S. Steel," "Nike," or the "Grand Canyon"... you name it. If you want some cold comfort, though—this isn't just our problem; it's happening in much wealthier Western nations too. Take France, for instance—you've got these massive multinational banks doubling down on citizen contributions to fund 'refugee aid,' yet they aren't nearly as compassionate when it comes to supporting their own domestic industries (the most glaring recent example being "Air France"). And don't even get me started on the growing number of struggling citizens who are finding even basic healthcare becomes way too expensive to afford. Meanwhile, asylum requests are being handed out left and right, while illegal immigrants are allegedly getting a daily budget of 75 bucks 'until they get on their feet' (at least, that's what Marine Le Pen mentioned during her appearance at the Lomonosov university back a couple of years ago). Also, I think it’s pretty naive to believe that everything we've seen over the last month is just some random improvisation. In my opinion, the political elite in America and the EU knew exactly what was coming; what we’re seeing now is basically just a shell game played with public opinion—just a way to buy time and fulfill all those international deals made behind closed doors. Honestly, it doesn't even seem impossible that the whole Orbán situation is just a little sideshow—kind of like a 'theater within a theater' similar to that mess we watched this past summer with the Greeks and their tragic OXI...

Well, I guess I'm stupid too. Someone here in Austria told me a long time ago that I should head to France instead. I need to talk to my husband about it. I'm earning less net pay here in Austria than those French refugees get in their 75 dollars a day. We could even go there for a little vacation, maybe three months, and then I'll come back to Austria. 🤔
restlesscobra24 said:Look, Chuck, I'm telling you—my sister-in-law lives out in the Appalachian Mountains. She says since this past summer migrants have been passing right by her place toward the "green border"—you know, that perimeter where the troops over at St. George get their supplies. No women, no kids. They just drop them off in vans and they trek the last few miles on foot.

Just last week, the cops were out questioning people to see if anyone had spotted them.

See, that's what I want to know. The media reports one set of numbers for refugees, but are those actual figures, or are they inflated? And by how much? 🤔I know people who have lived off the grid in Austria and Germany for years; they aren't on any registries, they aren't in the census, they haven't filed any residency papers—they basically don't exist on paper, but they are right there. 🤷
