Since when was it okay to just drive out of a car?

In this movie, just when you think things are finally about to kick off, it all ends 🙂

Brian Doyle6 said:That’s the core issue right there, but I’m going to have to disagree with you on the idea that this is only happening to us. If the Americans walked into a semifinal after playing a game like that, they’d be just as gassed and ripe for an upset, regardless of their reputation for being in peak physical condition.

So what, Babić was screaming "play 6-0!!!!!!!!!!!!" from the bench, but the players were too exhausted to actually hear him? 🤦

Jonathan Barnes5 said:Just one question... Fine, let's say we want a world-class coach. Who’s actually footing the bill? Otherwise, we're just settling for another Djetic appointment again...
I'd love to see River take the reins, but he's way out of our budget...The Federation can barely afford basic necessities...And Noka wouldn't show up for peanuts, and honestly, I'd even question his motivation at this stage...
What about Wenta? Schwalb? Gislason? Vranjes?..

What is wrong with Ivica Obrvan? He's basically the savior of American handball according to Babić. Where are you even getting that loaded statement from? As far as I know, the national federation is the most financially stable organization around, aside from Brand and his crew.

Nicole Wright said:God, I absolutely loathe these pathetic comments and news articles on every single sports site. It’s always the same nauseating garbage: "It doesn't matter, guys, things will get better," or "We're so proud of you," or "You gave it your all."

There was zero indication that they actually gave it their all (shout out to the few individuals who did). Instead, you'll have some lazy journalist pick at the coach's decisions, Alilović, or other technical stuff that actually needs analyzing, while everyone else just chases that "golden glow" nonsense🤦
.
And of course, the inevitable conclusion is always some excuse about how we're young, or we're building the squad for the Olympics or whatever. 🙄

Who exactly didn't give it their all, in your opinion? Look, if certain players screwed up or just played poorly, that's one thing, but there was absolutely no sign of anyone being nonchalant. If anything, I’d say they overextended themselves trying too hard—lots of unnecessary drives and similar mistakes.

Thomas Harris97 said:Yeah, we were right there in Canada trying to sweep all three titles—World Championship, Olympic gold, and the European Championship—but the Canadians intentionally undermined Metličić and ended up breaking John's arm. Because of that, he couldn't even play in the bronze medal match. It wasn't until the French finally pulled off that triple crown later on.

The European Championship happened before the Olympics, so at that point, we weren't even looking to link them all together yet. 🙂

briskhound2 said:Except Flash Gordon isn't even a superhero. Since you just threw everything and the kitchen sink into this poll—including movies that aren't even based on comics (The Defendor, Hancock, Darkman) but were created specifically for the screen, or characters that don't come from the comic world at all (Zorro, The Shadow) and aren't actually superheroes (Zorro, The Green Hornet, The Defendor), plus you managed to mess up two Dylan Dog, Mystery Man, and two Swamp Thing entries... one Flash doesn't really make a difference on this list.

Nope. Not happening. This list is already bloated enough as it is.

So, what's your actual definition of a superhero, and why exactly isn't The Green Hornet one?

I felt like the movie was seriously lacking any real dramatic tension. The whole plot gets wrapped up in like ten minutes, and that mystery they were building toward? It barely even gets mentioned by the end. Don't get me wrong, the acting was solid and the cinematography looked great, but the story itself was incredibly thin. Just when I thought things were finally getting interesting, the credits started rolling.

A buddy of mine who actually has a connection tells me he saw on Wikipedia that the singles court is longer and narrower, while doubles uses a longer and wider area, though apparently, in doubles, the serve has to land in the shorter, wider section.

I don't have any web access right now to fact-check that, but honestly, I'm not buying it.

Everyone is acting so shocked, like I’m some kind of villain. Look, if you can't handle it, just don't play. Simple as that. Bookmakers are basically just casinos. If you walk into a casino here in the States and pull in a massive haul, they'll ban you for life. Just like any private corporation has the right to choose who they do business with, every sportsbook has the right to decide who they take bets from and how they structure those bets. It's obvious: when someone hits a huge payout on a niche market, the house assumes they've got insider info. So, they move fast to limit them or just wipe them out entirely to prevent further losses. That's just their business model, and it clearly works since they keep making money that way.

Maybe we should start a petition to get UNICEF to open a sportsbook with zero limits, no taxes, great variety, and solid odds. Because hey, if everyone else gets special rights, why shouldn't bettors? 🤦

graniteotter6 said:Look, those shots he missed were from just 6 meters out, completely wide open. If it was just one shot, fine—whatever, someone’s gotta miss. I agree with everything else being said here.

I get it, I'm just saying if he hadn't even stepped up to take the shot because he was playing it safe like everyone else, we'd be in the exact same spot.

We're playing handball like a bunch of kids playing streetball—no real plays, just relying on raw talent. That kind of thing doesn't cut it in professional sports anymore.

graniteotter6 said:I’m calling out Karačić directly on this one. How on earth do you concede a goal like that when you've got a two-man advantage? That’s it. There's no other way to put it.

Let’s be real about this: every single one of those missed shots by Karačić only happened because he somehow managed to beat his man one-on-one right at the edge of the defender's reach—or maybe just after they went up with their hands. And let's not forget how many times Kopljar completely killed our momentum with those idiotic feints and dropping the ball to the floor. If Karačić hadn't been there to clean up those plays, we would've been giving up fast breaks to the Polish team all night. Honestly, the kid is the only one out there showing any real guts, and you have to respect him for that. Blaming him for those misses is just plain irrational.

The kid’s got an incredible handle—his footwork is seriously deceptive—and his ability to hold his ground against big men in the post is just top-tier. 🙏 🙏

Look, there’s a massive difference between bragging about tickets you didn't even play and throwing specific amounts around—which honestly should be against the rules—versus actually sharing real experiences regarding limits. I’m guessing if "Nalbandian-zna" shows up here just to talk trash about Gasquet, he isn't going to bother coming to this thread to make up some bullshit story about getting limited 🙂
.
That post above is actually incredibly constructive and solid. If you just tweak two sentences in the PDF rulebook, that post becomes perfectly legal, "Nalbandian-zna" loses his excuse to complain, and his nonsense will still get deleted like it should
.
BTW, dollars and American potatoes 😂

Either you ban them from running these gambling operations entirely, or you force them to play by the rules—meaning they pay for licenses and actually settle their tax bills. Right now, they’re basically just robbing the government by dodging both. The real question is whether anyone in Washington is actually smart enough to step up and make it happen.

Can you download music from iTunes or similar services here in the States, and does that trigger any kind of tax? Honestly, this should be treated exactly the same way as those shady music shops.

The first set went to a tiebreak, so it ended 7-6—that's an odd number. But then the second set finished 7-5, which is even, and now my bet is marked as a loser. I have no idea why...

LITHUANIA

medals: 3 0-0-3 (+ 9 2-4-3 USSR)
appearances: 6 (+ 9 USSR)
best result: bronze 1992-2000 (gold 1972, 1988 USSR)

Lithuania has basically been the most consistent squad in Europe over the last 5-6 years. They’ve got two EuroBasket silvers and a World Cup bronze plus a fourth-place finish under their belt, which says enough. Somewhere in between all those solid runs, they managed a disappointing eighth-place finish
in London, which should give them plenty of extra motivation to pull something off in Rio. Though, that could be a double-edged sword, especially since this roster isn't stacked with that usual mountain of superstars anymore. For Lithuania, the London result
was actually their worst showing ever. Before that, they were always at least playing in the semifinals; they have three bronzes and two fourth-place finishes. The real issue? Their last medal was back in Athens in 2000. Center Donatas Valanciunas is really the only true
star left, and we all know he struggled with injuries during the playoffs. Meanwhile, another NBA star Donatas Motiejūnas won't even be in Rio because he's having trouble finding an NBA contract. At EuroBasket, they timed their peak perfectly—they didn't exactly
dominate in the group stage, but they steadily ramped up until they beat Mexico in the semifinals. This lineup will be practically identical to that one. Bottom line: you have to look for a way to beat them.

The home team is definitely gunning for a medal, and their recent performances in major tournaments support that. In London, they were inches away from the semifinals; they beat Spain in the group and only lost to Russia by a single point, but then
those experienced Argentines proved too much in the quarterfinals. It was a similar story two years later at the World Cup—wins over France and Mexico in the group, revenge against Argentina in the round of 16, but then a loss to a highly cohesive Mexican team in the quarters.
All the big names are still around, though they're feeling the years just like the Argentines are. The only difference is Splitter is out due to injury. You can expect about ten players to be in constant rotation; nobody should realistically be averaging more than ten points per game.

Nobody even knows for sure what happened in those final moments of the bronze medal game in London between Argentina and Russia. All we know is that in that crazy finish, Russia managed to snag an unexpected medal. Whether that
game marks the end of a legendary generation is hard to say, but what is certain is that for Argentina, that iconic trio will be playing together once again.Ginobili-Scola-Nocion when that trio hits the floor together, Argentina
becomes an automatic semi-final contender—it's been the standard for them in basically every tournament since 2002. You've even got Carlos Delfino on the roster, though he's barely seen any meaningful minutes over the last three years. Then there's no Prigionio anymore since he stepped away. Looking at the rest of the squad,
you have to mention Facundo Campazzo, who's playing for Murcia on loan from Real Madrid, and Nicolas Laprovittola out of Rytas.

Nigeria is heading into their second straight Olympics; they didn't show up before London. These guys became famous for that shock run to the London games—during qualifiers, they were stuck in a group with Lithuania, then somehow managed to knock out
Greece in the quarterfinals and finally punched their ticket to the Olympics in a decisive showdown against the Dominicans. Before that, we saw them at the World Cup where they beat the former America in the group stage but ended up losing by a single point to Germany in the round of sixteen. They have a ton of recognizable
talent and you absolutely cannot sleep on this group. You've got Festus Ezeli, who was recently a center for the Golden State Warriors and played in the NBA Finals, plus another NBA vet Al-Farouq Aminu from Portland, who made the All-African team during the last championship
where Nigeria took the title. There’s also the new draft pick Michael Gbinije. Their veteran presence includes former NBA players Uzoh, Diogu, and Oyedeji, while their European contingent is led by Lawal from Barcelona.

That’s got absolutely nothing to do with badminton. Zero connection whatsoever.
