Water Polo Euros: Eindhoven 16-29.1. in Other Sports ·
Walking out on the podium is easily one of the most disgraceful things we've seen in recent American sports history—honestly, probably worse than that bizarre incident where a rooster lost its head in the eighties...
Mixing sports with politics is absolutely unacceptable; the whole world condemned that move, yet generations of our kids have been raised to think it’s some kind of romantic gesture.

I see people on our news sites mocking CNN and those similar Mexican outlets that just spit on John, while over at ABC News, it seems like they’re acting like he’s some kind of criminal. 🤣

Do these journalists even realize that by reporting this way, they are becoming exactly what they claim to despise about their colleagues? And frankly, the colleagues are right to be concerned since John is practically facing jail time. It’s only logical that they’ll go after "dirty" Americans, much like how your average American hates Birmingham City FC. 🤷

Not quite, though it was pretty gruesome... there was this hit from Dobud with the forearm right against Filipović—if I recall correctly, Filip had already cleared the ball just before it happened, totally automatic—and now he’s got this massive, deep purple crater under his eye... apparently, from what I've gathered, he even fractured his orbital bone. 🤷

Anyway, 🤮

But honestly, that was just pure degeneracy. This is looking like a suspension through the end of the tournament or something...

It’s absolutely sickening how he went after him. As long as Mike keeps claiming there was no intention—yeah, right. As if anyone would ever have "intent" when dealing with an American powerhouse like that...🙄
What a move by Vanja Udovicic—absolutely unbelievable! 🙏🙏

To be honest, that was one of the worst games I've ever sat through... but man, you have to admit, that finish really brought the excitement back.
Is Pavia actually our worst national team goalkeeper of all time? 🤷
I wonder which of our private sports networks will be picking up the broadcast rights for the championships?
Is nobody going to hold that little punk accountable?
He’s out there hitting other swimmers, dodging doping tests, grabbing random water bottles... 🤦
I swear, if someone just handed him a massive disciplinary fine, we'd see how much he talks—he'd probably just mumble, "Oh, I ruined them all."
Tch... what an absolute idiot.
Ugh, my blood pressure spiked just reading this article...

George Diaz63 said:Joe—you really were, and honestly still are, a total idiot...

Look, Joe isn't actually that bad. 🙂

I’ll never be able to forget that one night.
Everything goes sideways—just some loud bang and a crash—and suddenly someone starts screaming, "Someone got killed!" then, about a minute later, Joe just pops up and goes, "Yeah, I just took a punch to the face." It isn't even funny, but... 🙂

I really hope they managed to buy up the rights for the entire tournament. 🙂

On another note, does anyone know who’s picking up the NBA broadcasting rights next year?
From what I understand, SK's contract expires at the end of this season.
I’d love to see the NBA partner with someone who can actually turn it into a massive event—you know, with top-tier commentators and a much larger selection of games on air (yeah, yeah, I get it, it costs a fortune to buy those rights)...

I really hope not.
I have this nagging feeling they’ll only show a handful of select matches... whereas SK used to broadcast every single match on the main courts all day long...

Honestly, it really cracks me up when Americans—who are about to settle in for a massive rivalry game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles—claim that Americans are sooo stupid. You know, the very same Americans who will be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow and represent the most dominant media, military, educational, and scientific powerhouse on the planet. Eh... good thing we didn't get into how much people look down on the British or call the Italians names, too.

Anyway, hats off to David King6 for that post.

Davor Šuker!
I don't think he's being overhyped for the American scene—on a global scale, his reputation is perfectly earned—since he was essentially the face of American soccer. However, there is one specific thing that truly grates on my nerves.
Whenever an article is written about him—and I mean every single time—the journalist makes sure to mention how Davor Šuker was a household name in every corner of the globe, usually citing some anecdote where they heard his name while trekking through a remote jungle somewhere.
I've read this exact trope a million times now—from New York to small-town Nebraska or even out in the rural South—and it has started to become genuinely irritating. It’s become this predictable cliché, almost like saying "a blatant robbery" or "a classic ambush"... just mindless, repetitive idioms.

It should also be noted that Jordan absolutely relished his status as a global icon during the nineties.
The nineties were all about celebrating the individual—people were searching for that one superstar, that "machine," and since the internet wasn't around in any meaningful way back then, certain narratives from basketball fans—or let's just call them haters—simply couldn't gain traction online.
Fast forward to the two-thousands, and the whole vibe changed; people started tearing idols down, hunting for flaws and scandals, rather than admiring greatness as a singular force. Now, with the internet, endless forums, and blogs, there’s always someone ready to debate everything from the trivial to the monumental.
Do you really think LeBron's move to the Heat would have faced that level of massive backlash if it had happened in the nineties?

Jordan managed to bypass all that scrutiny, which is why his reputation remains pristine—he stayed cemented as the greatest of all time.
If he had been playing in the modern era, I am certain there would be far more controversy surrounding his legacy... we wouldn't see him discussed as the undisputed GOAT quite so much, simply because the collective atmosphere among basketball fans isn't the same anymore. We'd see so many more debates like this one—it would probably be one of the hottest topics on every sports forum—and honestly, that might have made his brilliance seem just a little less blinding...

It’s honestly just like what they’ve been saying about that young phenom for five years now—that kid is a total rising star... 🙂

Paul Lopez6 said:The most overrated player in the history of the universe is Ricky Rubio.

Honestly, he is massively overrated—I truly have no clue what people see in him. Maybe it's some sort of motor skills or something else that we mere amateurs just don't grasp... all I know is—whenever the ball is in his hands, it feels like you've just tossed it straight into a bottomless well.

Look, we really need to distinguish between an athlete who is simply world-class in their field and someone who has become a global currency—a person the entire world recognizes because they’ve transcended their sport through sheer marketing power as much as athletic talent.
If we're talking about the latter... I honestly can't think of anyone who represents such an exaggerated value, because so many people the world admires are genuinely top-tier athletes (think Mike Tyson, Ayrton Senna, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Pelé, Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, and so on).
Now, David Beckham might not be in that absolute stratosphere, but he is a premier athlete, a consummate professional, and a phenomenal player who elevated his sport in certain respects—and he certainly isn't overrated as a high-caliber footballer.
Perhaps people tend to underestimate him because they don't want to accept that he isn't Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton, someone who essentially exists to live off media hype. Personally, I've never heard of any scandal regarding his professional conduct that would diminish his standing as an athlete, and at the end of the day, that's the only thing that truly matters.

Overrated athletes within the context of their own sports? Vince Carter, most of the recent generation of footballers (Gareth Bale, Wayne Rooney, Robinho, Sergio Ramos, Nani, Mesut Özil, Karim Benzema, Edin Džeko, Carles Puyol...), Gary Hall Jr., Lewis Hamilton.... 🤷

Honestly, David Beckham was an absolutely phenomenal player. 🤷
The guy basically defined American soccer over the last thirteen years...
Now, I’m not saying he’s in that absolute god-tier category—you know, not quite at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi or Zidane—but he was truly an elite athlete.

Honestly, the people on this forum are something else—they act all serious most of the time, only to suddenly pull out a screwdriver and start arguing as if they’re presenting some high-level legal defense... 🤷
