Utah - Milwaukee
Pick: Under 190.5 points

coefficient: 1.85

betting shop: SS

Stake: 6/10

I spent some time looking at the coefficients and lines over at Pinnacle for this matchup—the under caught my eye immediately. Just out of curiosity, I checked SS to see where their lines sit for the same bet. Their line is stuck at 190.5, while Pinnacle is currently sitting at 185.5. 😲

It seems almost all our local betting shops are clinging to that higher line, whereas most of the action overseas is hovering around 185.5.
Here: http://www.oddsportal.com/basketball.../#over-under;1

Utah is a mediocre squad—plenty of big men, but none of them are elite, and their perimeter shooting is nonexistent. I caught a bit of one game recently—couldn't even sit through the whole thing—and noticed they just dump the ball inside to the bigs and hope for the best. Big Al and Millsap are dealing with minor injuries, and frankly, neither has been particularly impressive this season; one of them usually has a disastrous shooting night.

Milwaukee is a tedious team—slow, uninspired, and inefficient.
Last year, they were bottom-of-the-barrel in nearly every offensive statistical category.
They've got Bogut at center, who is far superior to anything we have. He’s a solid rebounder and shot-blocker, so he’ll give the Jazz bigs a hard time. As for Milwaukee's offense, I highly doubt they can push the pace enough to score more than 82 or 83 against the Jazz.

The 185.5 under looked attractive, so why pass up this 190.5 line? 👋

Whatever. Let's just go. 😁

I'm feeling a bit frustrated after the string of misses over the last few days; it's getting old.
It's mostly because I'm not watching games like I used to—I simply don't have the time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still watching and following, but not with the same intensity as last year, back when the results were much better.

Oh well, every start is rough, including this one. 🤣

Arthur Hill2 said:Cousins isn't actually that good—setting aside the fact that a center shooting 32% creates massive chemistry issues for a roster, there have been plenty of reports labeling him a locker room cancer and a bully. He even requested a trade recently. Besides, Evans is clearly their best player anyway.

Cousins has talent—he’s incredibly quick and agile given his size—but let’s be honest, the guy is unhinged. Everyone knows it.
And apparently, Evans is just as volatile, plus he’s completely inconsistent. He might drop 25 points one night, then disappear with a 10-point performance the next.

Phoenix vs Warriors
Pick: Golden State -3.5

Odds: 3.25

Bookmaker: Bet365

Stake: 2/10

I’ve already covered both squads, so I'll be brief. Phoenix is a fading team—their two main guys have a combined age of 76, they're averaging maybe 20 minutes a night, and the rest of the roster consists of standard role players. Aside from Marcin Gortat, there isn't much real quality here.
They started the season poorly, dropping three of their first four, though two of those losses were actually convincing. This is their third game in four days; Chris Hill and Steve Nash certainly aren't at peak fitness, so it will be interesting to see what kind of shape they're in.

The Warriors have finally started playing defense, and I have to admit it looks decent—at least based on what I saw during their game against the New York Knicks. Offensively, they have a very strong trio in Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry, and Lee, often supported by Wright, Rush, and Andris Biedrins. It's a solid group; if things click, they might even squeeze into the playoffs—we'll see. Monta looks great on offense—scoring and dishing it out effortlessly.
I think Golden State has a legitimate shot at winning tonight, and if they do win, covering a 4-point spread shouldn't be an issue.😁
There seems to be value here, so I'm taking it, albeit with a low stake.

New York vs Toronto
Pick: New York -8.5

Odds: 1.98

Bookmaker: Pinnacle

Stake: 5/10

It looks like the Knicks will be without Amar'e Stoudemire again tonight. His ankle is still swollen, and there's no point in rushing him back. While that's a significant blow to their ambitions, his replacement, the rookie Harrellson, played well last outing, putting up a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Carmelo Anthony will lead the Knicks against a Toronto Raptors team that lost to the Orlando Magic in a rather foolish fashion last night after holding a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. The Knicks have the better roster, a loud home crowd, and more rest than the visitors. They also have Tyson Chandler, who should limit the paint entries for DeMar DeRozan and Jose Calderon, while ideally neutralizing Andrea Bargnani, who has started the season quite well. Toronto isn't a particularly elite squad, but you have to give them credit for fighting. That said, I think the Knicks will simply be too much for them to handle tonight, and an 8.5-point handicap is well within reach.

Nicholas Chase34 said:Here goes, James Taylor3. 😉The point spread for the New York vs. Toronto game hasn't been released yet.

Regarding Denver—I don't think that B2B2B stretch will hit them as hard as people expect. Players have to adjust to the condensed schedule, sure, but they have the depth to handle it. Besides, the Lakers and Rockets haven't really struggled with back-to-back-to-back stretches so far. 🤷

The FBI is listening to me. 😬
To be fair, it hasn't really bitten us yet—but still, three games in three days is a lot. Normally, I’d take that 3.30 handicap on Denver without a second thought, but under these circumstances... no bet.

Chris Ortiz As specified by:
I honestly don't get why everyone is so against Denver—to me, they were easily the best matchup of the day.🤷.

I’m going with GSW—no question. Phoenix is an absolute disaster right now, and honestly, the odds on State are looking solid.🙏🙏 If Monte plays, we’re looking at a realistic 1.30—but even without him, they should pull this one out.

I’m staring at this Indiana situation. New Jersey is looking laughably bad—but whatever, they have to pull a win from somewhere. The problem is, I can't see a single game where they actually come out on top. I think I’ll just stick to two. Those three parlay legs are more than enough.

It’s not that I’m against Denver—they could hold their own against the Bucks without breaking a sweat—it’s just that this is their third game in three nights. That's the concern.
If they were playing against a powerhouse, I might actually consider a two-pointer—but this whole setup feels suspicious to me. I’ll pass.

I don't know much about GSW, and I'm leaning toward them taking it—but honestly, both teams have been playing incredibly inconsistent basketball to start this season.
Man, it’s a shame they don't have Kobe around to close out games. 😬
NBA Betting: Vol. 2 in Betting Forum ·
Thanks, Derica. 👍

Hmm, Denver is playing their third game in three nights—a brutal back-to-back-to-back stretch. They’re bound to be gassed, especially since they're facing damn Milwaukee. 🙂
Any other team would probably cruise to a 20-point win, but I wouldn't trust the Bucks even if they were playing against a high school squad.

The Knicks should theoretically cover the spread against Toronto—I think it's sitting at 10.5. 🤷
If Amara returns, that might be the play, particularly since the Raptors looked pretty worn out after last night's grind against Orlando.

I have to say, I'm not feeling this lineup much. Come on, Play—give me something better. 🤣

Pargo is about 6'2", while Hamilton is 6'7". It's a dream mismatch.

Or maybe little Pargo tries to take on Deng (6'9")?

I don't think I can stomach that much height disadvantage—it's just too much. 🤷

Honestly, who knows. They might try some unconventional defense early on, then just revert to their standard scheme if it doesn't work. 🤷

No, they’re playing without their best player, Aaron Gordon, today—and Sacramento is always a tough out on their home court. They might actually walk away with a win. 🤷

Bryan Adams6 said:LeBron James over 30.5 points at +130 on the HL.
It’s too good an opportunity to pass up.

That’s a lot to digest—31 points isn't exactly a small number. Plus, if the Miami Heat end up dismantling Charlotte, LeBron James might see his minutes get dialed back.

Dirk Nowitzki would easily clear my over today—honestly, there’s nobody in Minnesota capable of guarding him.

Don't listen to me—I'm notorious for being wrong when it comes to player prop predictions.
That’s exactly why I stopped putting money on it.

Just focus on the games. I don't care about individual player scoring. 🧐

Arthur Hill2 said:Where did that 22.5 line go? Did it vanish into thin air? After he finally started playing aggressively like he did last season, only to be benched today in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies backup, Memphis Pargo—it's hard to say.🙂

I went with him in the matchup against Blake Griffin—mostly because I’m expecting a subpar performance from Griffin and Derrick Rose to land somewhere in the 20–25 point range.

I’m not sure if Memphis Grizzlies is actually going to listen to him. Honestly, they’ll probably just send Taj Gibson to cover Derrick Rose—someone who could actually shut him down. 🤷
I'm not checking the numbers—just speaking from memory—but it's a possibility.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Dallas Mavericks
Pick: Over 204.5 total points

Odds: 2.03

Wager: 4/10

The arrival of Ricky Rubio has given Minnesota a massive boost—the hype surrounding him is enough that some people are already calling them playoff contenders. Personally, I think that’s a bit too optimistic, at least for this season.
Minnesota's offense is clicking; Kevin Love has been unstoppable, putting up 20/20 games twice in just two matchups. John Beasley looks solid, Ricky Rubio is facilitating well, and José Barea is showing that trademark speed again. The rest of the roster is doing exactly what's expected of them—nothing more, nothing less. One thing is clear: the Timberwolves are much better at home than on the road. They score significantly more points in their own arena. So far this season, they've lost three close ones—they actually had chances to pull off upsets against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat, but couldn't quite close it out.
The only team that didn't surrender 100+ points to them was Milwaukee, but let's be honest—the Bucks were statistically the worst offensive team in the league last year.

Dallas has had a rocky start to the season, though their recent win against the Toronto Raptors gives them hope that things are turning around. Losing DeAndre Chandler has definitely weakened their interior presence, which could lead to major issues defending Kevin Love today. Dirk Nowitzki might struggle to contain him, and there's always the possibility they throw Haywood at him instead. Regardless, Dallas possesses a potent offense with several reliable shooters and an unstoppable Dirk Nowitzki; they should have no trouble scoring against Minnesota. The real question is how many points they'll allow.

I'm having a hard time picking a winner here. Dallas feels like the safer bet for a victory, but I'm not looking to take unnecessary risks. The over feels like the more logical play, so I'll stick with that for a low-to-medium wager.

I was scrolling through some player updates on Twitter—for instance, Jason Terry was inviting friends over to celebrate New Year's Day last night... interesting. Kevin Love was also out late celebrating. It remains to be seen when they actually went to sleep or if they overindulged; that will likely impact their performance on the court today. 😁

Orlando Magic vs Toronto Raptors
Pick: Orlando Magic over 99.5 points

Odds: 1.90

Wager: 6/10

Orlando is an excellent shooting squad—especially now that Awad Turkoglu has found his rhythm early this season, a sharp contrast to last year. With Bassa gone, Ryan Anderson slides into the starting four; he’s a reliable three-point threat and a solid offensive rebounder. The roster also features the veteran presence of Eric Richardson, Glen Davis, and Nelson—who missed the last game with a minor neck injury but is expected back tonight—alongside the undisputed anchor at center, Dwight Howard. He essentially carries Orlando on his back.

They face the Toronto Raptors today, a lackluster team with very little ambition. Their defense is porous at best. Dwight Howard should dominate the paint; the Raptors will likely be forced to double-team him, which should open up even more lanes for Orlando's sharpshooters to exploit. If Amir Johnson runs into foul trouble—which seems inevitable against Howard—Orlando's advantage on the boards will only grow. I originally anticipated the line for Orlando to sit around 104-105 points. This shift caught my eye, so I'm taking it—I think Orlando can comfortably hit the 100-point mark against an opponent this weak.

Oklahoma vs. Phoenix
Pick: Oklahoma -11.5

Odds: 1.935

Unit: 5/10

Oklahoma is simply the superior team compared to Phoenix—on both ends of the floor. They aren't title contenders for no reason. The roster features two elite scorers: Kevin Durant, who is averaging north of 30 PPG this season with absurd efficiency, and James Harden, a guy coming off the bench who is a lock for Sixth Man of the Year contention. Then there’s the unpredictable Westbrook—his game swings wildly between brilliance and pure chaos, so you never quite know which version shows up. To manage his minutes, they'll lean on the veteran Steve Nash, though the Hornets' Jarrett Jack played him so hard last night that Nash might still be feeling it.
The Oklahoma paint is anchored by Serge Ibaka and Perkins—two solid defenders—meaning the Suns are going to run into serious trouble whenever they try to drive inside. Plus, Oklahoma boasts a much deeper bench than Phoenix.

To make matters worse, Phoenix played last night. They pulled off a surprising win against New Orleans, but now they have to face a heavy favorite in Oklahoma on zero rest. The Suns are led by the "old guard," Nash and Hill, aged 37 and 39 respectively; playing back-to-back games at that stage isn't exactly ideal. When those two aren't on the court, Phoenix becomes a significantly weaker squad. Both veterans have seen their minutes dwindle season after season, currently hovering around 26-27 per game. However, as I noted a few weeks back, the Suns' coach indicated that in back-to-back scenarios, Nash and Hill won't see more than 20 minutes—and neither will the rest of the rotation.
Aside from them, the main offensive threats are Warrick and Marcin Gortat, but they won't find much breathing room against a shot-blocking specialist like Ibaka and a physical presence like Perkins. Besides, the Suns' defense hasn't been anything to write home about for years.

I expect a comfortable, double-digit victory for Oklahoma tonight, covering the -11.5 spread.

Last year's champions have had a miserable start to the season, sitting at 3 losses. They’ve surrendered over 100 points in all three games—something that wasn't exactly common for them last year. It's clear the roster turnover has taken a toll, both on their rhythm and their morale. I’d specifically point to the loss of Tyson Chandler; he provided much-needed grit in the paint. This year they're running Haywood at center, who isn't anywhere near Tyson's level.
Furthermore, the offense lacks the fluidity and cohesive playmaking that defined them last season. The newcomers, Vince Carter and especially Odom, haven't integrated well—Odom, in particular, has put up miserable numbers and pathetic shooting percentages over these first three games.

The Toronto Raptors remain one of the worst teams in the league this year. If there's anyone worth watching on that roster, it's just DeMar DeRozan, Andrea Bargnani, and the solid rebounder Amir Johnson. Most of the rest of the roster consists of European players who lack significant depth. The Raptors are defensively soft—especially Bargnani—and they are particularly bad on the road. Sure, they managed to beat a similarly lackluster Cleveland team earlier this season, but that doesn't change the fact that they aren't a team anyone wants to face on the road.

Dallas boasts much more depth, superior individual talent, home-court advantage, and likely a massive chip on their shoulder—after all, they are the defending champs and the media is currently having a field day mocking them. All those factors favor Dallas over the Canadians.
I think this matchup is the perfect opportunity for the Mavericks to grab their first win of the season. After that dramatic finish against Oklahoma last night, a convincing victory would help wash away the bitter taste of this sluggish start—both for the team and their fans. That's why I'm leaning in with a higher stake by my standards.

Charles Long63 said:James Taylor3, what's your take on Dallas, Boston, and Atlanta for a high-stakes play?

In my view, all three bets should hit—but as for playing them for a massive stake... 🤷
Three separate plays feels like too much exposure for one big bet; I’d stick to two. That's my move, at least.

Dallas hasn't found their footing yet—last night was a disaster. Carter hit a three to put them ahead with just 1.5 seconds left, only for Durant to sink a buzzer-beater to give Oklahoma the win. Dallas has depth—maybe not quite as deep as last year, but still enough—and they should be plenty strong against Toronto, who is easily one of the worst squads in the league right now.

Deron Williams looks completely off his game, which explains why the Nets are struggling this much. Plus, Atlanta absolutely dismantled them in New Jersey a couple of days ago. Atlanta started the season with two convincing wins. Sure, the competition has been weak, but let's be real—the Hawks have a solid roster with decent strength distributed across all positions.
All signs point to them beating the Nets again tonight.

Like Dallas, Boston is still looking for their first win. Detroit is the perfect target here—a team that’s essentially stagnating and slowly falling apart after last season. The Celtics are the more talented side and they really ought to start winning, assuming they aren't planning on sweating their playoff positioning until the final week. This season is shorter than usual, after all. I'm not sure if Paul Pierce is back in the lineup tonight, but even without him, this should be a home win.

Against Boston, that young kid Cole absolutely tore them apart, and last LeBron and Bosh were struggling too. Dwyane Wade is playing terribly. I was actually thinking about leaning more into LeBron today—matching up Rose against Wade

Looking closer, though, Wade is still scoring enough against these guys, so I’ll pass on that move for now. For the moment, I'm calling a Miami win and an Atlanta win on one leg; the second leg will be LeBron on the over, and I'll likely add a few more props to each.

It's LeBron—not "lebrone."

Also, there were some rumors floating around about Wade being injured.
