Honestly, I'm calling Norway the heavy favorites here. I don't see them struggling much at all. If they just stick to their fast-paced game, those Mexicans won't stand a chance. The Mexican squad keeps swapping out three players at a time, which slows things down too much, and they constantly run these 7-on-6 plays that just fail, leaving them wide open for easy goals.
France - Iceland 1
Iceland barely scraped into the round of 16, so anything other than a French win would be a massive shocker.
Russia-Canada 2
This is probably going to be the craziest matchup of the round. I might give a tiny edge to the Canadians, though. Russia is stuck without Atman, and Gorbok didn't even play last game—those are easily their two best guys right there. Canada also brought in someone new; instead of Miklavčič, they threw in another rookie, Jan Grebenc Brazil.
Brazil - Spain 2
The Spaniards are playing lights out, so they shouldn't have much trouble against Brazil. Their coach, Jordi Ribera, actually coached Brazil for four years, so he knows them inside and out. They looked amazing against Canada—just super fast handball, tons of fast breaks and second chances, and great wing play. Brazil’s got two interesting guys on the wings, Langaro and Toledo.

Honestly, the whole thing is just cringey.
The music lineup is alright—Connect and Bodalec are fine—but everything else? James and this mindless screaming... 🤦 You gotta tell this crowd they're idiots, because I bet they'd approve of this garbage if everyone just screamed loud enough. 🤣
Cement is staying silent now, after they absolutely torched Miha Horvat. I guess we were being a little too cocky. Just get out of the national team already—the bench at Veszprem is waiting for you ☕
Peter Campbell said:Honestly, I guess I’d trust the first-string goalie for Vezsprem over the backup for the Washington, D.C. squad any day. It's kind of like saying I'd trust sulica more than Mary.
Oh, and I totally forgot—yesterday, the US team got some seriously obvious help from those referees during a few huge moments, which probably decided the whole game.
So yeah, go ahead and hand that medal over to my favorite little jerk 🙂
Yeah, it's honestly ridiculous to compare one of the best pivots in the world to this total hole.
He should just nek uzeti mađarski državljanstvo and leave us all in peace.
I guess you're the only one who thinks Babic is the right call here. 😁
You’ve got a goalie who literally carried us to the semifinals, but you still opt for the biggest liability in the tournament. And honestly, he isn't just a disaster this year—this slump has been going on since the World Championships 2005 and Belgrade 2010. He used up his last chance a long time ago, but hey, let's just keep trying with him as our number one, I guess.
Raymond Anderson4 said:We’re definitely gonna be the stronger side in Rio. We'll have Isaac, and probably Stepancic and Pavlovic too—that's a noticeably tougher squad.
jadeseal7 said:Expectations are way higher now, though. I just hope the guys don't feel too much pressure out in Rio.
First, Rio needs to actually qualify 😁
I mean, look at our group. And then you've got a manager who thinks we're favorites? If the Lady has any time left for us, I wouldn't exactly bet my house on this team.
It’s honestly wild how much you're lowballing goalkeepers here. 😁
You really think those French teams didn't have Omeyer to stack up all those gold medals?
And what about the Danes without Hvidt and Landin?
I mean, Onesta once spent an entire hour at some seminar lecturing on defensive tactics, only to wrap it up by saying none of it matters if you don't have someone like Titj behind you making at least 15 saves.
Ever since 2010, Mirko has been absolutely useless in big games. Every single time he was supposed to step up and rally the troops, he just choked. Like, always.
Look, nobody's asking him to save ten certain goals a game, but for crying out loud, just make two or three saves! Just do something to actually matter.
I'm pretty sure nobody in this thread is going to shed a single tear when he's gone. We've got Ivica, Stevanovica, Šega, Pešice...
Honestly, it would be best if he just left and picked up Canadian citizenship on his way out so he can go entertain them instead. ☕
Since 2010, this guy hasn't saved a single thing in the big games. That last tournament was honestly the last time it felt like we actually had a goalie we could count on.
It’s been seven tournaments since then, and he’s consistently been our biggest liability. Every single time we make it to a semifinal and need someone to step up and carry the squad, he just chokes. We're talking save percentages of like 10-25%—that’s basically his ceiling.
Bašić said before the tournament that lacking solid goalkeeping cost us maybe two or three gold medals, and honestly, he knows a hell of a lot more about this than you do, Carl Garcia22.
I swear, I hope he just moves on and finds luck somewhere else. Yeah, right—as if anyone's going to shed a tear when he leaves.🤣
Man, you complain about Cement as much as you bitch about Stevanovic. Like, sure, if he plays well, the defense looks elite, but come on.🤣 The defense was elite back when he pulled off those two penalty saves against Rutenki, when he stopped two against the Poles, and even today against the Norwegians.
Don't be blind when you clearly have perfect vision.☕
Maybe try defending a little, thanks midwife. We attack him too, you know? You lost that game because of Mirko.
Now I’m just sitting here waiting for this absolute clown to go on national TV and explain to the whole country how his total incompetence cost us the gold medal
