That's only if you're going through a private clinic. If you're at a public hospital, they actually keep you admitted until they pull those tampons out.
You basically just hang out in NYC the whole time. You spend a week in the hospital, they take the swabs out on day seven, and then you’ve got your first follow-up in a month. That's how it went for me when I was admitted.
Which surgeons in Chicago are actually good, what are we looking at price-wise, recovery times, etc.?
I can't find anything specific to America; everything that pops up is from foreign sites and I can't even get a ballpark figure.
Check out Ostojica’s site—he actually lists his prices there. He has a specific section for nose tip surgery. I only mentioned him as an example so you could get a feel for the range, since he's pretty much the only one who puts a price list online. Keep in mind that with other doctors, things could swing by $1,000 or $667 more or less.
Honestly, I'm not sure who else I'd suggest. Just spend some time scrolling through photos on sites like Toncic, Zgaljardic, Glumicic, Bagatin, Munitic, and so on.
Amy Brooks17 said:Hey everyone, So, I totally lost it today when I realized my surgery on March 30th might clash with my period. My cycle's been shifting lately, and since it lasts forever, it’s looking like it'll overlap with the procedure. If that actually happens, will they just push the surgery back until I'm done, or what? Honestly, my heart is racing because I can barely breathe—my left nostril is basically non-existent at this point—and it's affecting my mouth too. I seriously can't deal with this anymore. By the way, how long do you usually have to stay in the hospital, and how much recovery time is needed (like, staying indoors and all that)? I've heard so many different stories and I need to plan around my college classes. Specifically, I'm asking about the public hospital in Miami, not a private one...
They didn't reschedule my surgery the first time even though my period started the exact day of the procedure. And honestly, even if they do push it back a few days, I don't see why that's such a huge deal. You can probably hang in there for a couple more days until it passes, right? The main thing is being ready for surgery. It's more important than worrying about whether you can survive a few extra days of breathing like crap, which is what you've been doing your whole life anyway.
Are you thinking about handling this privately or dealing with it at the hospital? If you go the hospital route, just make sure you bypass the Holy Spirit in the broad arc.
So, I finally picked a surgeon and we’ve got the surgery date set! I'm going private for this one, but now I'm wondering about all those pre-op tests I need to get done before the big day. Can I just ask my primary care doctor for the referrals, or will they refuse because it's an elective cosmetic thing? Thanks 🙂
Can anyone tell me how much a nose job costs at Glumičić's? Does he offer any kind of discount if you pay in cash? Seriously, please help—I can't find anything online about his pricing. Is it actually possible that there isn't a fixed rate and it just depends on who you ask?
Hey, can you actually go through with cosmetic surgery if you have nasal polyps? Or is it a "fix the polyps first, then do the aesthetic stuff" kind of situation?

Davor Đepina is more of a head and neck surgeon; that's really his bread and butter. I'm not saying other specialists can't pull off a good nose job, but you know, he might not have as much experience with pure facial aesthetics and fine contouring. And since you said you're doing this purely for looks rather than fixing breathing issues, you gotta be careful.
I honestly don't know how many rhinoplasties he's actually done or how he ranks in that specific niche. All I know is I saw a comment from a woman who said he told her straight up that if she wanted major aesthetic changes, she should probably see someone else. There's also Dr. Ivo Đepina, who used to work with Glumičić. He has his own practice too . To be honest, his before-and-after photos look better to me than most of those big-name surgeons. You can actually see a real change in his work, instead of just having a bump shaved off like what you see with Tončić.
Yeah, yeah, my bad! I totally thought Davor Džepina was the one who used to work with Glumičić. Thanks for clearing that up and letting me know it's actually Ivo Đepina.
Exactly. If I'm going to shell out this kind of money, I want it done right. I don't want to end up disappointed. Since this is purely about the look for me, I'm terrified some doctor will just sell me a dream and then I'll wake up from surgery and barely notice any difference at all. I'm looking for a pretty drastic change. I want a much smaller nose. It's not "ugly" now, it's just flat, but I want something maybe slightly upturned, narrow, and small. You guys are probably going to tell me to just go to Glumičić because he does that kind of work, but for some reason, he's my last resort.
Right now, I'm leaning toward Žgaljardić, Kincl, or maybe Ivo Đepina.
Thanks a million for the heads-up about there being two different Đepinas! 🙂))
Hey, does anyone have the scoop on Davor Džepina? Like, what’s his vibe when it comes to aesthetics? Thanks a ton! I know you guys probably think I'm just ignoring all the existing threads, but trust me, I've been hitting the search bar hard and coming up totally empty.
I’ve been scrolling through this thread and all the posts, and honestly, it’s wild. You’ve got people writing these massive fanboy tributes to every single one of these plastic surgeons, and then immediately after, someone else is basically spitting on them because they allegedly ruined their entire lives...
So, what does it actually mean to call Kincl a "plastic surgeon"? Is he just a glorified decorator who knows how to make things look pretty? Personally, I only care about the aesthetics—breathing isn't really my priority here...
Do any of these guys actually give a discount if you pay in cash? I know Tončić offers it, but let’s be real, his work feels like he just knows how to slap a logo on something. He can't even get the contouring right, let alone shape anything nicely.
I read somewhere that Glumičić isn't even taking new patients for rhinoplasty anymore because he's supposedly too busy with huge celebrities and women flying in from overseas or whatever??? I saw that mentioned here, but I don't get why anyone would even bother doing that.
Can someone shoot me a DM with a ballpark idea of what private surgeons here in the States are charging for rhinoplasty? I'm looking at names like Glumičić, Zambelli, Bastaic, Dr. Glusac, Kincl, and Žgaljardić. Who would you guys recommend if I'm looking to narrow things down—specifically slimming the nasal tip and adjusting the base angle? I don't have a hump or anything, just want a bit more refinement.
Hey, I'm curious about the difference between open and closed rhinoplasty. Which one actually delivers better results? I've been lurking here and following this whole thread, reading through everyone's experiences with various surgeons, but I just can't find anything decent regarding Kinčl. It feels weird—like, is he great for breast augmentations but nothing else? His own website doesn't even show any rhinoplasty work. Also, is it just me, or does it look like when Tončić posts his before and after shots, he just slightly shortens the tip, lifts it a bit, smooths out the hump, and calls it a day? I honestly don't see any major transformations in his photos.
So, if we're talking about cosmetic surgery, and the urine test comes back loaded with bacteria, is that enough for the anesthesiologist to pull the plug on the whole procedure?
So, is it okay if I wear some kind of loose undershirt? Honestly, when I was doing those other tests—the heart imaging, lung scans, and EKG—I felt totally exposed just being naked. The thought of being under anesthesia and completely bare from the waist down while they operate gives me the chills.
Maybe look inward for a second? You’re stressing way too much over these tests. Honestly, who knows, you might not even end up needing surgery at all. Usually, you just go in for a standard checkup first, and then the doctor decides if they need to schedule surgery for a deviated septum or not. If you don't actually have a deviated septum and you're just worried about how your nose looks on the outside, there is zero chance they'll schedule an operation. Plus, you typically run those tests just a month before the actual procedure because they're required for the surgery itself—it's not like the doctor needs them just to stare at them. And anyway, you need referrals from your primary care physician for those tests you're obsessing over, and let's be real, your GP isn't just going to hand those out unless you specifically ask for them.
Is it true that for the surgery we have to strip down from the waist up, like, totally bare from the waist down? Are they at least gonna cover us with something or what?
Betty Edwards22 said:Look, before you go off on a rant: your surgeon actually has a point right out of the gate—less is usually better than doing way too much.
Second thing, and this is the big one—the tip of your nose, specifically that alar cartilage, creates what’s called the nasal valve. That term basically defines how much air you can actually breathe in. If they go overboard and cut through the structure that defines it without thinking, you risk a paradoxical collapse. How much of that cartilage can be trimmed? Honestly, it’s totally up to the individual based on how much they have to work with. They can also tighten things up using sutures instead of cutting. There are tons of different ways to mix and match techniques.
I don't get why people respond like this. Not just to me right now, but generally whenever anyone asks a question, people jump in with this super arrogant attitude like we're all being stupid. We didn't all go to med school, you know? Also, I wasn't "rambling," and I wasn't complaining. If I were actually whining, I would've just canceled my surgery with him and gone to someone else who'd actually agree to take off as much as possible, so I don't see what's not clear. Thirdly, I was just asking if removing a tiny bit of cartilage would actually make a visible difference in making the tip look smaller. That was it. Just a simple question about whether that much is typically removed, and I got an answer that makes zero sense because, again, I'm not a doctor and I'm not interested in medical jargon. So, I really don't see why you felt the need to drop those unnecessary comments.
