frozenangler17 said:Hey everyone, I have a question for those who go to the Mayo Clinic for ENT. Has anyone had experience with Dr. Marcel Marjanović Kavanagh? Basically, I had two surgeries four years ago (septum and sinuses) with Dr. Rank Mladin, but he isn't taking patients or doing surgeries anymore... at least that's what the nurse told me. Now I need a third surgery (septal perforation and removing part of a nasal turbinate), but I don't know anything about this doctor, Marcel, or even the procedure itself. If anyone has experience, please let me know. 🙂 Or if you recommend someone else, a really good ENT in Washington, D.C. Thanks. 🙂

Maybe try looking for Dr. Jurlin; most patients seem to praise him.🙂

Hey everyone, I’m planning on getting rhinoplasty, but I’m holding off until September. I really don't want to deal with this during the summer—between not being able to go swimming and just the intense heat, it seems like a bad idea. I have a few questions about the recovery process: roughly how many weeks will I be unable to breathe through my nose? Also, by the two-month mark, will I look relatively normal? I know the final shape doesn't fully settle for about a year, but I’m mostly asking about bruising and swelling. One more thing—when do they usually take the stitches out? Right now, my top choice is Dr. Frank in Miami. I’ve seen a handful of negative reviews online, but there are ten times more positive ones. A friend of mine actually went to him and told me that if she had to do it all over again, she’d definitely choose him too.

My only real issue is that I get lightheaded whenever I have to get blood drawn, so the idea of actual surgery is terrifying. I’m scared out of my mind, even though I know once you're under anesthesia, you won't feel a thing. My mom keeps telling me I don't need this and that I'm being crazy, but I know I need it—I've got these two bumps on the side and my nose tip is way too wide. Getting this done would definitely give my confidence a massive boost. 🙂 Honestly, ever since I started thinking about this surgery, I can't stop touching my nose. It’s becoming a total habit. I really hope this phase passes soon, because there is absolutely no way I want to be fidgeting with it after the procedure—I definitely don't want to risk messing anything up.

Thanks in advance for the help.

A friend of mine just went in for nose surgery. I’m not exactly sure how long they kept the nasal packing in her, but from what I know, most private clinics usually keep those tampons in for about three or four days. 🙂
Regarding the bruising, that cleared up after about two weeks, but she was dealing with swelling for a good month or two. It wasn't anything major, I guess, but both she and her friends definitely noticed it. 🙂 Her capillaries burst in her eyes too, so the whites looked pretty bloodshot for about two or three weeks. But that’s just her experience—maybe things will go smoother and faster for you. 🙂

I haven't heard much about that clinic where you had your surgery. I actually went to check out their website, but they don't have anything on there—no before-and-after photos, no price lists, nothing. It’s pretty sketchy. 🤷
Can I get some more first-hand info on this? 🙂

Glad to hear the gear is working out great! 🙂

northernmaker84 said:So, I took the mold off today and I am seriously loving it!!!
I've still got some bandages on for another couple of days and everything is pretty swollen, but I'm actually happy with how it looks.
The little mites around my nose are driving me absolutely crazy -_-
Good luck to everyone!

🙂 Jay, that's awesome! 😁
northernmaker84 said:Maybe I'll post a photo. I'm taking the mold off in mid-July, but I'll probably look like a total pig, haha:-))
thanks🙂)

It doesn't matter, don't panic. You can see most people look like they've been stung by a swarm of bees for the first few days or weeks. 😛 It'll pass. 😉
northernmaker84 said:Hey everyone! :-)
So, I had my surgery yesterday around noon. Honestly, I feel pretty good—no real pain at all. There’s just some slight swelling and a little bit of bruising right under one eye. It doesn't actually hurt, except when I touch the base of my nose; that spot is a bit tender and swollen between my eyes.
I actually managed to get some stuff done and even caught a few hours of sleep last night. I've been applying those CVS compresses constantly.
If anyone has questions, feel free to ask. :-)
Good luck, everyone.

So, you went to see G., didn't you? 😁
I only care about the end results, but I guess we'll probably have to wait another year or so to see them. 🤣
But hey, if you can remember us, maybe you could drop a few photos after like two or three months? 🙂
Since I’ve already mentioned that I’m a bit skeptical about just handing everything over to him, I really hope things go smoothly with you and that you end up being totally satisfied! 🙂
Brenda Collins59 said:Hey everyone, here’s my story...

I had my surgery on Thursday around 5:15 PM, and I woke up back in my room around 7:15 PM. They told me the rhinoplasty took about an hour and a half.
Since I know those of you just waiting for your dates are probably super anxious, I figured I’d start from the beginning.🙂
I checked into the surgical center at 3:00 PM, they took me to my room, and gave me a gown and slippers. I had to shower in a Plavasept scrub to disinfect everything. The nurses came by a few times to do an EKG and bring over anesthesia questionnaires that I had to fill out. Since I am a huuuuge panicker, they really tried to help me relax and calm down, but honestly, they weren't having much luck. Around 4:40 PM, the anesthesiologist came to my room; we had a quick chat about my health, and she promised me I'd wake up just fine after the anesthesia.🙂
Around 5:00 PM, they came to pick me up and took me to the OR. I had to take off the gown and stayed in just my underwear. They laid me on the table, and once they started the IV they set up in my room, they gave me a med that made my head start spinning... After that, they injected one more thing, and the last thing I heard was someone saying, "Goodnight, sleep well..."
I woke up in my room with zero pain! No swelling, no bruising, and absolutely no nausea. I was just still really groggy from the anesthesia, but obviously, that's totally normal. I stayed at the facility until the next day and headed home around 3:00 PM. On Friday evening, I had a little bit of swelling near the bridge of my nose and a tiny bruise popped up right there, but that was pretty much it.🤷
I'm going in tomorrow to get the packing removed, but I just wanted to say that you can function somewhat normally and breathe with them in your nose—it's really not a huge deal. Also, just a heads-up, I don't strictly have to sleep on my back; I can sleep slightly on my side too...
Anyway, I hope this helps someone out, because reading through the other posts here actually made everything I went through feel a lot easier.🙂

Jay! Now it's just a matter of being patient and following all the post-op instructions they gave you. Fingers crossed the results are amazing! 😁
Brenda Collins59 said:I have my nose surgery scheduled for today—actually, it’s happening in just a few hours... and I am sooo incredibly nervous. 😲 If I make it out alive, I'll let you guys know how it went.🙂

We just didn't have any luck! I really hope everything went okay, though. 😁
Who did you go see? 🙂
northernmaker84 said:I decided on him because my nose already has a similar shape, so I just need to reduce the size and shorten it slightly. That specific look is what works for my face. If he couldn't deliver that, I would have just gone to someone else, so that's why I'm going to him.😁
I guess I’d be just like Emina, haha.😛

Well, obviously, everyone has their own taste. 😁 If that’s really your final decision, then I wish you nothing but the best. I truly hope everything goes smoothly and that this ends up being the very first and last time you ever mess with your nose. 😛 Let me know once all of this is over and everything goes according to plan—and tell me if you’re actually happy with how it turned out! 😁
northernmaker84 said:That’s how I felt too, though I ended up going with Glumičić in the end. 😁

Glad to see you're happy; sounds like everything went smoothly! 😁I'm happy for you, but honestly, I just don't trust him. I keep hearing about all those lawsuits filed against him, and I can't get over that weirdly square nose—it looks just like Jackson's. I've noticed most of them have that same look :// Plus, he's definitely on the pricier side if we're being real. 😁

northernmaker84 said:That’s a tough one to answer because it really comes down to the individual. Every surgeon is going to have their fair share of both glowing reviews and bad ones, so picking the absolute "best" is almost impossible. If I were you, I'd start by looking them up online—check out their published work and papers first. Once you've narrowed it down to maybe two or three options, go ahead and schedule consultations. You need to see who you actually vibe with most. That’s basically how I handled it. 😁

I agree. I'm planning to drop by and see Dr. Munitić and Dr. Tončić sometime between today and tomorrow. To be honest, I haven't heard a single bad thing about Munitić, which is honestly a miracle since you can find something negative about anyone—especially someone who’s been in the game for over 30 years. He clearly knows his stuff. As for Tončić, I’m still a little skeptical, but he might just be a solid choice.

Based on everything I’ve read in this thread over the last two years, I definitely wouldn't recommend leaving anything to chance with Glumičić, Ostojić, Klapan, or Žgaraljdić. In my experience following these discussions, they seem to rack up the most complaints, and people have shared a lot of negative feedback regarding them. I'm sure there are plenty of patients who were perfectly happy, but for me, they just feel like too much of a risk. That’s just my take, though.

Look, at the end of the day, it’s on you to do the legwork. You need to ask around, hear about other people's experiences, and gather as much intel as possible. Seriously, check out their websites or Facebook pages—those can tell you a lot. I’ve actually been able to figure out certain surgeons just by looking through their photo albums. It’s pretty obvious that some of them just use the exact same template for every single patient, which makes me think they aren't really listening to what the patient actually wants. Of course, it goes both ways; a patient has to listen to the surgeon too and realize that maybe some requests just aren't realistic. But still, you'll see cases where everyone ends up with this identical upturned nose, whether it actually suits them or not. Some surgeons barely change anything at all, while then there are others whose work I actually quite like.
Or maybe I should just read up on those experiences where a specific surgeon delivers an amazing aesthetic result, but at the cost of completely wrecking the nose's function. That’s obviously something nobody wants, and honestly, functionality really ought to be more important than just how the nose looks.

Look, things like this take some actual time to research properly. Just give yourself some space, take it slow, and try to be smart about it! 😍 I'm still on the hunt too, and honestly, I'm just waiting to land a job. Since that's probably not happening anytime soon, unfortunately. 😛 I’m hoping I can actually use this time to find what I'm looking for, instead of just charging blindly into the fog like some desperate fool because I can't stand waiting any longer. 🙂 If I could wait this long, I can hang on a little longer! You should do the same—don't let it get to you! 🙂
Hannah Taylor34 said:Hey, I need some advice (maybe this sounds a bit silly, but I can't help myself) — how do I tell my family and my boyfriend that I want to get nose surgery?? I'm 25, so it’s not like I need permission, but I still feel like I have to tell the people close to me. They have no idea I even have this complex; everyone tells me I'm pretty and all that, and honestly, no one has ever actually said anything bad about my nose. But I'm not delusional, I can see it. My nose looks too wide, and from the profile, it's way too long and big... I always look terrible in photos and it just doesn't suit me. 😢 I know my mom will probably try to talk me out of it, and maybe others will too. Basically, I want to go through with it, but I don't know how to bring it up to everyone. I even thought about telling them I need the operation for health reasons... 😢 I don't know.. how did you guys handle this?

My advice is to first really think about whether you actually need the surgery or if you can just shake off those crazy insecurities. If you can't—I totally get it. 😁
Only once you've made your final decision should you tell your people what you've decided. And that's it. Take a stand, put a smile on your face to make it easier for them, explain everything, and let them know the deal is already done! 🙂 Of course they'll try to argue with you, but listen to yourself. 🙂
Alternatively, you could start dropping occasional "jokes" to test the waters and see how they react, then tell them for real if you're genuinely stuck on how to approach it otherwise. But you know them best, so I trust you'll find the right way to say it. 😉 Just be ready for your decision to come as a bit of a shock, since you mentioned they haven't even suspected this has been bothering you for years. 🙂 Then again, there are much worse things people have to admit to their loved ones, so don't let your decision feel like such a big deal to announce. 😛
Good luck with everything coming up—picking a surgeon, saving up the cash, the surgery itself, and all that! 👍
Betty Edwards22 said:A general practitioner—if they’re actually smart—will probably just take the long way around and refer you themselves. They'll likely send you to an ENT first, and then it's just more of the same loop.

Thanks so much everyone! 🙂
Jacob Ruiz86 said:I dealt with the exact same thing all through high school. You probably have a deviated septum. I had to wait until I was 18 to get surgery, but things are way better now.

I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to believe that's 😁
Look, I'm not trying to act like I know everything, and you definitely should go get checked out regardless, but it doesn't feel like a deviation to me. 🙂
Betty Edwards22 said:Are you allergic?
Clear discharge usually points to allergies rather than a deviated septum. You should probably get an allergy panel done: a nasal smear for eosinophils, total IgE levels, and inhalation allergen prick tests.

I honestly don't know, since I deal with this all year round ://
Do you happen to know where the best place is to go for these tests, or how to set them up? Should I get a referral from my primary care doctor first, or can I just go somewhere directly? (Sorry if I sound clueless, I just don't end up at doctors or hospitals very often, so I'm not really sure how this works 😢 )
Hey everyone! 😁
I noticed some people here seem pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, so I wanted to pick your brains on something.
I haven't had nose surgery (though, yeah, I'm planning to get a hump removed eventually 😁), but separate from that, my nose runs a million times a day. It’s nothing crazy, just clear liquid, but it happens constantly. I’ve lost track of how many boxes of tissues I’ve gone through, and this has been going on for years. Everyone who knows me has noticed it; I even got an entire bulk pack of tissues for my birthday once as a joke. 😂 It’s especially bad when I step outside, move from outdoors to indoors, or if I take a deep breath because I'm rushing somewhere. I get that a runny nose is normal, but I feel like mine happens way too often.
I'm sure it's nothing serious, but I'm curious—why does this happen? Is my nasal mucosa just overly sensitive, or could it be something else entirely?

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Looks sweet and totally natural! 😍
I can't believe I'm seeing this. Seriously? This is exactly what I was talking about. It’s just one thing after another at this point. Everyone needs to take a breath and actually look at the facts before jumping to conclusions. Unbelievable. kaže:
What are you even supposed to do when you go to some high-end, private plastic surgeon, drop thousands of dollars on a nose job, and the result is just... wrong? So, you go back for a revision, they operate on you again, and now, after two surgeries, my nose still looks terrible! It’s enough to drive you insane. Please, don't bother asking me who the doctor is or begging me to send photos—it's not happening. I’m honestly sick to my stomach just thinking about how some girls probably walk into a hospital and get free aesthetic work that turns out way better than what I paid a fortune for. $0.00 Paid for and re-operated!
Every single time I mention to someone that I had nose surgery done by a plastic surgeon—EVERYONE, and I mean literally everyone—says the exact same thing: "I would never have guessed!"
I just wanted a little tip on my nose, but honestly, nothing has changed. It’s not even slimmer, let alone lifted... there's barely any difference at all. I can't believe how much money and effort I wasted for such a tiny result.
So much for private plastic manufacturers!!

I am truly sorry. 😢 Look, it would be a huge help if you could just tell us who we're dealing with. I don't want us making the exact same mistake again. 🙄
I really hope that if you decide to go through with a third surgery, it actually works out this time—and that you end up in much more capable hands!
Oh my god, I am absolutely frozen after reading all of this. I literally just bought some L'Oréal Preference hair dye an hour ago, and since it’s my first time trying to dye my own hair at home, I’m totally spiraling. Now I have no idea what to do. 😢
How exactly am I supposed to do a patch test? Is that thing actually reliable?
