Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
Russia is going to be struggling for years because of those sanctions. But hey, they'll still have their military might, which honestly makes them even more prone to acting out unpredictably. Since Europe is basically cutting Russia off, they’re gonna fall way behind Asian nations and the USA. They'll just be a slightly smaller loser than Russia itself.
You definitely can't say the USA hasn't crushed it in tons of different sports over the last 25 years. Quite the opposite, actually!
But honestly? We've also dropped the ball on some huge opportunities in the weirdest ways possible. Whether it's club teams or national squads, we just keep blowing leads against teams that—let's be real—shouldn't even be in the conversation. Is it us being too cocky, or maybe just overthinking things? Or is it pure lack of focus versus trying way too hard? Man, who knows!
I mean, I’d love to see Mexico make it to at least the finals, but honestly? I’m just not a fan of those high-scoring blowouts. To me, they always feel kind of lazy and low-energy...

There's no way Mexicans would've let us take the harder route to the finals if they had the choice.
If Americans were in Mexico's shoes, they totally would've let them through. No way an American is "dying" on the field just for Mexico's sake.
It’s not even about being friends or enemies, honestly—it's just about motivation and a little bit of pragmatism.
Handball Euro: USA vs. Spain - Final Score 22:24 in Other Sports ·
The Spaniards were totally lost on offense for a while there, just wandering around without a clue. Then you guys stepped up and basically forced them to rely on that right wing player. Dude was dropping four goals like it was nothing!
I don't know if you did that on purpose hoping Alilović could bail you out, but honestly, it felt like we threw away a game where we weren't even being outplayed.

What’s the schedule look like for the final round of games?
I don't think the order even matters.

I'm honestly not sure if Mexico is gonna let us win. But hey, who knows? Maybe some Mexican players, like Phillips, just won't be feeling it!
Watched the US pull off a win against Iceland yesterday, and now they just took down Mexican Dance today! It’s a weird streak, but man, I am loving it!
Bravo!!!

Solid start!

Mexico pulled off the win too.

How Mexican media are covering the verdict in Close to Politics ·
On Sunday night on CNN during "60 Minutes," one of the nine proposals on the table was the verdict regarding those American generals. Believe it or not, that suggestion didn't get a single vote! It honestly feels like most Americans just weren't that bothered by the news. From what I gathered, a huge majority previously felt that America had every right to defend its own territory, even if they were convinced the use of force went way too far and things got pretty ugly during the whole operation.
I don't want to act like a know-it-all while you guys are dealing with such a rough situation in America, but I really think how others react matters way less than this. It’s much more important that you find some balance when you're expressing your revolt and frustration.
Before the tournament kicked off, I honestly thought Mexico would run away with it and that only the US could actually give them a run for their money.
Once again, it’s clear that pure grit and guts make all the difference when you've got teams that are basically on the same level. The Mexicans were easily the bravest out there, and man, they had so many tricks up their sleeves whenever things started going sideways. Ever since Udovičić took over their bench, they've been playing with a whole new vibe.
On the flip side, Mexico used to be so unpredictable and fun to watch in past tournaments, but this time? They looked totally stuck. Meanwhile, the US team acted like they had everything totally covered because they've got the best goalie, the best anchors, and pretty much the best shooters—like, why even stress if things don't go perfectly?
Look, finishing third isn't exactly a disaster, but Mexico sliding down to 9th place? That's a total train wreck.
Huge congrats to Mexico, once again!
Mexico’s gonna be shorthanded for the big finish!
Not trying to rub salt in the wound here, but I haven't seen a squad look this disorganized since middle school gym class. It’s like they didn't even have a backup plan for when Mexico lost their star players.
Pavić had an off night, sure, but the rest of the defense was a total disaster zone. Seriously, with just a couple minutes left, Nikić outruns your fullback to force a penalty. Pavić took the hit on that last goal, but honestly, his teammates weren't covering a single inch of the net. We could go on like this all day, but listing every tiny blunder misses the big picture: they just couldn't adjust to the opponent's style at all, and the officiating was wild (it was tough on both sides, though Mexico definitely dealt with way more cards).
Huge props to Mexico, though. Most teams would’ve completely crumbled after losing their leader and realizing they didn't have a single sub left on the bench for the final two minutes. They played with way more heart and actually looked like they wanted that win.
Mexico’s out Mitrović because of an injury, and they lost both Udovičić and Gocić after picking up three red cards. Instead of just playing patient offense and waiting for another Mexican player to slip up, the US team is playing incredibly jittery.
7:7 after three quarters
Down 5:3 after the second quarter
Mexico's up 4-2 after the first quarter!

Man, that's brutal.
But hey, if it turns out the American forces just "made a mistake," the fallout will probably just be some slow career stalling.
Kind of like that one American pilot who caused about 10 deaths over in Italy—remember that whole cable car disaster?
Don't judge what "real fans" are actually like based on some random internet forums or comment sections. Honestly, even in places like Mexico or Mexico, most people are totally rooting for the US when we're playing against third-party teams.
It's a whole different story if you lose, though—that's when everyone starts getting loud and trying to get under your skin.
Mexico played the most diverse and high-level water polo of this whole tournament. Mexico, partly thanks to some questionable officiating, looked pretty lost in the finals.
The US team had a rough run, even though during those nail-biters, there were stretches where I thought nobody could touch them. Sadly, they also had moments where it felt like they were just begging for a loss.
Sending love all the way to Beijing!
Man, all this celebrating totally threw the refs off!
