Well, that's just it. 🙂 Thanks, you actually made me feel better. I was worried that on top of the swelling, I’d just end up gaining weight once I quit smoking, haha. I'm sticking to my guns, though. 😁😁
Hey everyone, what’s the deal with smokers? 😁
I heard it’s actually pretty tough to smoke when your nose is all stuffed up. Personally, I don't think I could go a single day without a cigarette, so I wonder if I'll even be able to handle it. Hehe 🙂
rustypanther2 said:Hey everyone... this is my first time posting here. I had rhinoplasty about a month ago—both for aesthetics and to fix a deviation—so I wanted to ask how your recoveries went. How long did it take for the tip swelling to go down and for everything to finally settle into place? Especially if anyone had an incision on the columella; I’d love to hear how your healing process looked. Right now, everything feels a bit crooked and distorted. There are these little bumps on the bridge of my nose, and one side of my nostril looks larger than the other, making the whole thing look asymmetrical. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? And feel free to ask me anything if you have questions. 😉

Hey, have you had a follow-up appointment yet? What did the doctor say? Also, which hospital did you have the procedure at? From what I’ve read here, things usually settle down. One girl mentioned recently that it took five months before everything finally settled and those bumps smoothed out. I guess it might be a bit early to judge after just a month, so maybe try to stay calm and be patient 🙂 though I totally get it. I think we all want to take off the cast and see a perfect, movie-star nose, not something swollen and looking bigger than it did before 😁.
Let us know what the doctor said; I suppose they know a lot more than we do. Good luck! 👋
Sam Kim12 said:I didn't actually transfer anything from my phone to my laptop, but I can just email it over.😉

Also, I’m really looking forward to the day I can finally breathe through my nose again.😬

Anyway, catch me in the DMs.🙂
Sam Kim12 said:It’s been 10 days since my surgery. I went in for a follow-up today and they finally took the splint off. The doctor seems really happy with how things look, and honestly, so am I. My nasal lining is still a little swollen, but breathing feels amazing😁.
I have some minor bruising under my eyes that should clear up in a day or two, and my nose bridge is slightly puffy, though nobody else really notices. Overall, everything is going great. 😍

🙂 Come on, post some pics! 🙂)
Eric Sanchez5 said:So, I’m 16 and I have a deviated septum. It isn’t super extreme, but I need surgery because I deal with constant sinus infections, throat issues, ear problems, and I end up missing a ton of school. I just can't live like this anymore; it’s honestly draining the life out of me. The doctors suggested surgery would be good, but they mentioned it might be better to wait until I'm 18. The thing is, because of all the intense exams and previous procedures, my nostrils have been widened. My nose is large, has a significant bump, and is quite wide. For those reasons, I’d want to go for a Rhinoplasty at the same time since it's the biggest insecurity holding me back. A few of you probably know that feeling when someone constantly stares at your nose or gives you those "compliments" that just send you into a depression. I have to see a doctor this week to get scheduled for surgery in NYC. I’ve read all kinds of stories online and I don't know whether to laugh or cry :'). Since this will be at a public hospital, I was wondering if anyone has had positive experiences at any of the public hospitals in NYC (though I'm open to hearing about the bad ones too). I'm ready for the pain and whatever else comes with the package :3. Please let me know your experiences, opinions, and anything else. If you could also recommend a specific public hospital in NYC, that would be great, because my parents aren't sure where to send me. Thanks in advance. 😁

Well, look, I was scheduled at Mount Sinai with Dr. Bilic. There isn't much posted here regarding his specific work, but I went in for a consultation and I liked the doctor-patient dynamic right away. He actually suggested the aesthetic side of things himself, which I appreciated. From what I hear, Mount Sinai is pretty well-known for nose surgeries and their specialists are top-notch. As for your age, I’d suggest waiting. The final result might not be what you want because your facial bones are still developing and haven't fully matured for the procedure yet. I guess you should see what your doctor says, but my advice is to hold off until you're 18, maybe even 20.
Good luck.
Hi everyone! 😁
I've read through this entire thread, but I noticed no one has mentioned Rib, which is actually what I'm looking into. 🙂Does anyone have any experience working with those doctors? ...to be clear, I'm talking about both the deviation and the aesthetic side. Thanks in advance.
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me out... I heard about the MM clinic in downtown Chicago, and I'm curious to hear about your experiences there. From what I gather, that doctor used to work at Mercury. Does anyone happen to have any info on him? Thanks 😁
Emily Martinez12 said:I asked doctor Glušac if it was possible to just do the cosmetic part without the functional side, and he repeated a hundred times that it simply isn't an option...

I guess we have to decide who's actually being unreasonable here. 😕

🤷🤷 As far as I know, it can be done; that’s what Glumičić told me.
Jamie Kern8 said:Hey ladies...
I had my surgery yesterday, so I figured I’d share my experience. I didn't go to a private clinic; I went through the hospital instead. Everything seems okay so far..
The day before surgery, I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight (I'd recommend eating a good meal beforehand). They gave me an Apaurin to help me sleep. In the morning, I waited a bit since I was one of the first scheduled for surgery. Then a nurse came by and gave me an injection in the muscle, and about 15 minutes later, we were headed to the OR. Once there, I changed into my gown, they put the IV in my hand and the mask over my face, and then... bye-bye. I woke up in recovery feeling thirsty as hell. Of course, you aren't allowed to drink for two hours... so later on, I was drinking water like crazy and using a straw for tea. It’s a little awkward because you have to breathe through your mouth, so your lips and mouth get pretty dry..
I didn't deal with any nausea or vomiting, though the poor woman next to me suddenly projectile vomited a whole liter of water right there.. 😢
They moved me back to my regular room the next morning, and here I am. 🙂
My eyes, the bridge of my nose, my cheeks, and my lips are all swollen.. I look like a raccoon. My upper and lower lips are this deep purple-red color.. the doctor mentioned I'll probably be even more swollen tomorrow before things start looking better... My nose hurts a little, but it's not unbearable; I take some pain meds and I'm fine.. I can eat, actually—I'm starving and constantly snacking. 🙂 Oh, and I'm on antibiotics that I have to take every three hours... so yeah, still hanging in there. I can't wait until they remove the packing so I can see what the doctor actually did. 😁
Best to everyone

Nice work. 🙂
Let us know how it turns out. Good luck! 😛
Brenda Collins59 said:Hey everyone,

I’m thinking about getting a rhinoplasty with Dr. Toncic. Does anyone know what the typical cost is or what the payment options look like? I'm wondering if there's an option to split it into installments. Thanks for any info.

So, this is how doctor Tončić replied to my email.

The cost of rhinoplasty typically varies. $3667 You can pay via card (Maestro, Master, Visa, Diners, or American Express) in monthly installments ranging from 2 to 12 months. Alternatively, consumer loans are available for 2 to 60 installments, depending on your specific card. If you prefer to pay in cash, the price is... $3333We offer a pretty significant discount if you decide to pay in cash. If you end up choosing both the aesthetic and functional aspects—meaning you include the septoplasty—the total price for the procedure would be... $4400 Regarding card payments, I guess... $4000 Regarding cash payments.

Maria Hall92 said:Honestly, I think steelangler88 is losing it. Stop overanalyzing your nose; it’s actually great, the size is perfect, and it looks lovely—I swear. I get how you're feeling, but there really isn't a reason to worry. Forget about any other surgery. You just end up becoming addicted to them. Trust me, a third surgery won't make it look better. You'll just find something else to obsess over, and you'll never be satisfied. Just stop staring at it and call it a day. It's genuinely nice and definitely not big. I had my own procedure because I wanted to fix a crooked nose, but I didn't want a tiny one. Thank God I don't have a tiny nose. After my surgery, I got a bit obsessed with the idea that it was too large (thinking I wanted it smaller, blah blah), but now I'm starting to see that it's not big, nor is it small. It's just normal, and it's what I have. We are who we are; no amount of surgery is ever going to give me exactly what I want. Everyone wants perfection, but that doesn't exist. One surgery is plenty for most people to improve their nose, which is the whole point of the procedure, not to achieve perfection. (Unless there are exceptions; I ended up having two because of an accident). And it's not like we just have a damn nose on our faces for everyone to stare at. Heal your minds, haha, and stop obsessing over it...
After my surgery, my nose isn't 100% straight, and while it's slightly smaller, it isn't "small." It's normal. It doesn't have to be stunning. It doesn't. I've accepted it for what it is.

Nice one, micek 👍 😍

Once the swelling goes down a bit more and I figure out how to manage the glare, I'll try to take some shots facing forward with my full face visible. This was taken two weeks post-op.

Honestly, I think you didn't even need the surgery; you had a really lovely profile before... but if you're happier now, that's what matters most. Congrats, and enjoy the new look.😍
Sarah Myers21 said:Sharing my experience here, just to give some encouragement to those still on the fence.

I had my surgery 7 days ago—the results are beautiful and breathing feels great. 🙂 I had a deviated septum and a bump, so I focused more on functionality and breathing than on making it smaller. I chose Dr. Iva Džepina (who has an approach similar to Djura Dežalić). He’s fantastic; I went with my gut, trusting his expertise (20 years at Mayo Clinic, plus private practice and a professorship at medical school). The staff is lovely, and the recovery suites are very comfortable. Having the packing removed two days later was a piece of cake, and taking the cast off today wasn't too bad either. The first two days were a bit of a shock—waking up from general anesthesia feeling swollen like a frog with dark bruising under my eyes. I couldn't watch TV or read, and I had to breathe through my mouth, which isn't a huge deal for me since I have allergies. After that, though, the recovery was surprisingly fast, so I'm already planning a trip to the coast in a few days. I used cucumber slices and ointment on the swelling around my eyes, which helped them fade quickly. Aside from those first two nights, I've been sleeping on my side like I prefer, eating whatever I want without guilt, and letting myself be pampered. Even though my face feels slightly stiff, I can laugh normally without having to hold my nose. 😂 I first considered this four years ago, but college obligations kept pushing it back until two weeks ago when I realized my summer break was the perfect window. A day and a half before the procedure (back when I hadn't settled on a surgeon yet but had several consultations lined up), I was browsing this thread, and honestly, I'm glad I did. It's all behind me now. I feel wonderful, and I think summer is actually a great time for this because healing seems faster and the ocean air helps with the swelling. I got lucky with the scheduling; the doctor happened to have an opening the day after our consultation, whereas everything else was booked out for weeks. I didn't want to wait two weeks and risk showing up to the beach with a swollen nose, so I jumped on the opportunity. Now, it's just me and my new nose against the world. 😁

Congrats! 😍

Girls, this is my old nose.
It’s not like you can't find me in real life, but I'm just not comfortable posting my whole face on a forum. My head was tilted slightly in the shot. Plus, if I posted a full photo, people would probably notice from my lips that my nose had been crooked before.
Basically, the bone was off by a few millimeters, there were two bumps making it look wider, and the tip was bulbous.

Now, the new one:

The bone is straight, the bumps are smoothed out, and the tip is smaller. When you straighten the bone, the nose naturally looks longer, so they shortened it a bit so it wouldn't hang too low over my lip.
The main issue—which is supposedly just temporary—is my nostrils. You can see it in the last photo. One is higher, the other is lower. I have to wait for the stitches to come out before the higher nostril can relax and settle. That asymmetry actually looks more obvious in the photo than it does in person. I'm not sure why.
If it doesn't resolve itself within 12 months, I guess I'll go back for surgery. But with a different doctor, of course.
Everyone keeps telling me not to jump the gun, so I'll try to be patient.
To be fair, I actually think this nose looks better than my old one.
And since I'm still swollen, the doctor mentioned the bridge should look narrower soon.
Starting Thursday, I'm going for lymphatic drainage; apparently, that helps speed up the recovery.

Honestly, I think my nose looks gorgeous, especially the profile.😍
Maria Hall92 said:Thomas told me if anything pops up after the surgery, like a bump or an uneven profile, they'll fix it on their own dime. Seems fair enough.

I guess that’s a good move on his part. Honestly, that’s how any doctor should treat their patients.
rustygardener172 said:First, you'd have to actually get him to admit he messed up in the first place...

I guess I could make him, no sweat. hehe😁
I'm interested in this too... and if things end up getting complicated, I'd really like to hear directly from him that he'll perform any necessary follow-up surgery—God forbid it comes to that—and that, OF COURSE, there won't be a charge if it turns out to be his mistake.
goldenangler82 said:Maybe they bumped up the prices. 🙂 Had you checked with them recently?

About a month ago, via email.
goldenangler82 said:I have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Johnson this week. I'm just hoping the actual surgery doesn't end up costing $13,500 🙄 for a minor correction.

I checked with him myself, and the procedure is exactly $2,000 cash.
