Carol Diaz31 said:Regarding that cartilage "grafting" thing—my issue was that I had absolutely no cartilage left at the tip. After they shortened it, the surgeon used the cartilage he harvested from removing the hump to reinforce the tip so it stays in place. He mentioned that if that isn't enough and the tip drops—which we won't know for another year—we could potentially lift the tip by using cartilage taken from behind the ear. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that; it’s only been 4 months, so we'll just have to see.

Both of them were present during my consultations and on the day of the surgery. I actually requested Rajko to perform the procedure, but like rustygardener172 said... I don't really know what happens once I'm asleep 😁 though I suspect they both worked on me. They both suited up in scrubs, and there wasn't anyone else in the clinic besides me. Usually, nurses handle those things, but Dinko removed my tampons and Rajko took off the mold, so it was definitely a team effort! 😁

That's fine. The main thing is that the little guy isn't alone.🤣🤣
Maria Hall92 said:I'm mostly just sticking to pudding and fruit yogurt🙂 .. everything else feels a bit heavy..

Surprisingly, I can actually sleep. I haven't been waking up, which I honestly thought would be an issue..

Well.. I guess there's some truth to the idea that beauty requires sacrifice.😁
But I suppose that's a small price to pay for getting a new little kitten.. even if it means dealing with a little cat cough.😁
Right?😍
Maria Hall92 said:To be honest, I don't know how deep it goes, but I'm guessing it reaches the sinuses 🙂 haha... and obviously, once they take it out, I can finally breathe through my nose 🙂 thank goodness... I can't wait, I'm losing my mind here. I keep thinking about how I'll have to spend another night sleeping with my mouth wide open, hahaha, it's terrible 😁

As for the weight, I don't want to lose any since I'm at a good spot... though I suppose I'll end up being thin now 😢((

Hehe, I'm always missing those two pounds to get where I want to be 😁
In that case... you should just eat a ton of chocolate and cookies 😍
Maria Hall92 said:I mean... it’s just more irritating when you finally want to take a breath and you can't. It's not like it's life-threatening or anything, but it definitely gets under your skin.

Kate Taylor59, it doesn't really hurt, but it's an uncomfortable sensation when they pull things out... since everything is tucked away so deep inside. :/

Ladies, try to look on the bright side... Maria Hall92 mentioned not being able to eat normally, but summer is right around the corner, so I guess nobody is going to complain about losing a few pounds. 😁😁
As for the actual procedure... I'm a little nervous about that part too, though maybe just a bit. 🙄 I'm actually more worried about the anesthesia, even if Maria Hall92 was pretty helpful in calming me down. 👍
Maria Hall92 said:haha don't worry... before my surgery, that was my biggest fear too—how much cutting there would be and what it would feel like. But honestly, once they administer the spinal block, you stop worrying about anything else. And when the anesthesia kicks in and makes your head spin, you'll just feel totally drained and sweaty, and then they have you breathing through those soaked gauze pads and giving you various injections, and that's basically it. You won't feel a thing; you just lie there listening... though, believe me, you won't be hearing much of anything. It’s kind of like being at the dentist 🙂... so don't be scared. As for me, I don't even have any bruising under my eyes like people said I would; just a little bit near the eye where they did the side work 🙂. My nose still doesn't hurt either. I sneezed twice (gross) 🙂)

🙂
hehehe I can't wait to finally get this cast off 😁😁
Maria Hall92 said:I felt this weird tickling sensation in my nose, but nothing painful. It was just a bit uncomfortable when they were using the hammer, though I wouldn't call it actual pain. Honestly, it still doesn't hurt at all, which feels pretty strange... hopefully, it stays that way. 🙂 hehe alright, I'll keep you guys posted. 😛

Well, you've definitely comforted me a bit... I already told you, you're my beacon of hope.😍
Since it's local anesthesia, just the word itself makes me feel like I'm in a coma.😁
I'll try to send another update tomorrow... I know, I'm being a bit much.🤣 😁
Maria Hall92 said:Hey everyone, I’m back from surgery. Just thought I’d share how it went. First, I had another chat with the doctor to finalize the plan. He suggested using a closed technique because he wasn't sure an open approach would yield better results, and it seemed more complicated. After that, my sister took me to get a shot in the hip to help me relax, then they did another exam—this time with a more senior surgeon. They spent quite a while looking things over and debating the next steps, and they kept bringing up the possibility of an open procedure (honestly, I was already too worried about the needle to care if they decided to take my leg off 😁). It felt like my nose situation is pretty messy, and I almost got the impression they weren't entirely sure what the outcome would be... Anyway, I laid down on the table, my sister packed my nasal passages with soaked gauze—anesthetic, I assume—and they started an IV with something that made me feel drowsy, though not totally out. Then came the uncomfortable part: the local anesthetic in the nose. It felt weirdly intense in several spots and stung quite a bit; I definitely shed some tears. I just lay there for a few minutes waiting for it to kick in. I kept my eyes squeezed shut the whole time, then I heard the doctor say, "Let's go." (Yikes). I felt everything. I wasn't asleep at all. I was just numb and still, but I could hear every single thing. I could have opened my eyes, but I didn't think that was a good idea—I really didn't want to accidentally see anything, heaven forbid! I'm not actually sure which technique they ended up using... I felt some scraping, something about needing to work laterally, and then I heard the incision being made to remove the bump, and then I felt a rushing sensation at the end, followed by a hammer 😁 hahahahah man... honestly, I felt them tapping me with a hammer twice. Seriously guys, I felt and heard everything. But I should mention that IT WASN'T BAD so for anyone who's nervous, you don't need to fear the locally enhanced anesthesia or the other stuff I mentioned (except maybe the local, but you can handle that) IT DOESN'T HURT ... After the surgery, you just rest for a bit and you can head home. I can walk fine, no dizziness, no nausea, my nose doesn't hurt at all, no headache, and I don't even feel exhausted or worn out. You'll probably deal with all that if you go under general anesthesia, so skip that if you can. I don't even have bad bruising; it's barely visible in the corners of my eyes. Overall, everything went great with Dr. Miller.
Just waiting to see if he managed to fix my ugly nose 🙂. If so, I'd definitely recommend him

.

Oh my god, 😲 how exactly do you mean you "felt" it... was it actual pain, or more like when you're getting a tooth pulled where you feel the movement but not the pain?
Man, oh man 😲
Major props to you for being so brave. Please keep us updated every day 🙂, you're my ray of hope 😍
Maria Hall92 said:Hehe... I was actually feeling a bit skeptical about the older surgeon too... but honestly, just let it go. It’s not like he’s some hack. During my consultation, they mentioned there's one last chat right before surgery day, so you'll have a final chance to voice any concerns. They also said they sometimes operate on two or three people at once, depending on the schedule. He definitely won't be doing it alone, so don't worry 🙂. And like rustygardener172 said, you never really know who's working on you when you're out under anesthesia anyway 😁😁

Thanks for the good vibes. I'll keep everyone posted 🙂

Are you nervous about the local anesthesia? 😲 Because I am pretty terrified 😢
If I read correctly, you're heading in tomorrow? Please let me know how it goes. Good luck again!
rustygardener172 said:They operate together. But honestly... how much do you really know about who’s poking around while you're asleep? Even the younger ones have to learn the ropes from someone if they plan on running the practice one day.

p.s. You can always request a consultation when the senior doctor is on duty.

That’s exactly what I’ll do. I’m going to demand it... he’ll be learning everything from me, and if he gets out of line, well, I'll just have to deal with him. haha😁
Maria Hall92 said:For anyone interested, I went for a consultation with Tončić Jr. He looked at my nose and concluded that during my first surgery, they messed up by snapping the cartilage on one side. That’s why there’s that bump on the tip.
He mentioned he can just trim it slightly, but he has to be careful because my skin is thin. I guess I'm feeling a bit pessimistic about the tip; I'm not sure how much can actually be done. Regarding the slope, he thinks it will probably stay as it is, though from a profile view, he doesn't see an issue with excess cartilage. Since I also have scars on my nose (thankfully they aren't too obvious), it might be a bit tricky because the skin tends to cling to the structure, but he says it can be fixed.
It's a bit of a mess, honestly. I think it'll look better than it does now, but I also suspect it won't turn out exactly how I want it to.
I'm heading in for the surgery this Monday. We'll have one more talk and take some photos. I'll try to emphasize again that I want him to do whatever possible.😢 Ugh... I'm just not having much luck.😢

I don't really get why the junior doctor handles the consultations if he isn't the one performing the actual surgery. I think it would make more sense to discuss all your concerns with the specific surgeon you're putting your trust in.🤷
I've decided on Tončić as well, but I definitely want the senior surgeon for the consultation. To me, this feels a bit unprofessional.
Anyway, I wish you lots of luck. Please let us know how the surgery goes and how the new nose looks.😍
Elizabeth Collins5 said:Is it normal to have lumps appearing on my nose five months after surgery? They aren't just palpable; you can actually see them too. 😢 Has anyone else dealt with this? Did the lumps eventually go away or not?

Just seeing this message now, I didn't check my PMs earlier.
Have you asked your doctor yet? They’d probably be the best person to ask...
Good luck, and let me know what ends up happening.
steelangler88 said:Yeah, I have plenty of grafts and my incision is wide open. But still, it looks really strange to me, and I wouldn't say it’s going to "settle" enough to actually flatten out. It’s been a month already and it still looks huge. I honestly don't know anymore.😢

steelangler88, if I remember correctly... you had your surgery done by Ostojić?
Amanda Morris76 said:I’ve been scrolling through this forum from the very beginning... and I noticed some of the surgeons you guys have been praising are Gorazd poj and Dr. Ostojic. Has anyone here actually worked with them lately? From what I can tell, Tončić seems to be the crowd favorite, but I’m not crazy about the nose shape he produces. I’d want to lift my tip, and it looks like he doesn't really touch the tips much.

By the way, how did people around you react to your change?

Hey, maybe take a look at the photos on Glumičić's website. He usually does adjust the tip—lifting it or shortening it depending on what’s needed.
best, 🙂
I'm dealing with sinus issues myself... does that fall under the category of a deviated septum surgery?
Hey ladies, I just registered on the forum specifically because of this thread about nose surgery. After reading through the posts, I think I’m leaning toward Glumičić, though I was originally torn between him and Tončić.
In any case, I've been catching up on all the posts from the beginning, and from what I gather, Glumičić only took cash about two years ago. So, I was wondering if any of you have had surgery with him this year, and if he might be accepting credit cards now?🙂
Thanks so much for the help! :-*
