I managed to sort it out by jumping into the BIOS and manually setting the local hard drive as the primary drive. Honestly, I have no idea why the boot priority shifted on its own in the first place. 🤷

Exactly. It’s irrelevant. Windows 7 handles RAM much more efficiently than XP does, so that’s a factor. But whether the software is legitimate or pirated doesn't change the performance mechanics itself.

No, it's a reflective DDoS. They "shut down" the forum and then "bring it back up," but when they do, there's a period where you can't connect to the database, which triggers the System Error. 😁

Don't overthink it. It won't take two or three hours to stabilize. 😁 😁

My usual routine was pretty simple: hit the back button, mash Ctrl+C, and then just spam Ctrl+V once the server finally decided to stop tripping over itself and came back online.

I just "save up" some money for myself because I don't spend more going out than I do staying home with my wife and kids (I've "grown old" 😬), I don't waste money on summer vacations since we live by the coast, I don't go skiing because it's not my thing, and most importantly: the kids are still "little," so they aren't demanding I blow money on their "nonsense" (expensive GPUs and stuff like that 🙂)...

I know how it goes. My family gave me the same crap when I bought a new bike that cost about $1,200 $0.00.....

No, it isn't on those pages. I went back to check the benchmark, and the R9 390 could pull up to 15fps more in UHD resolution, whereas the GTX 970 had better FPS at 1920x1080.

I'm looking at it right now; I posted that TechCrunch link thinking there would be a benchmark down at the bottom, but there isn't. It just shows speed comparisons and other specs. And why is what was said above mostly true? Doesn't Nvidia optimize their drivers more than AMD does?

The R9 390 will likely pull higher FPS at higher resolutions (UHD), probably due to that 8GB buffer, whereas the GTX 970 will perform better at 1080p. It’s smarter to go with the GTX 970; most people aren't gaming on a UHD monitor anyway, and they won't have to overhaul their entire power supply to run it.
