Scott Cooper9 said:Before his injury, Cech was truly in a league of his own among goalkeepers, wasn't he? Even while wearing that helmet and sitting out for months at a time, he managed to hold onto his records... though one has to wonder, if we didn't have a legendary striker like Van Nistelrooy leading the line, would those achievements even carry the same weight?

Who is Ruud van Nistelrooy supposed to replace? Before the head injury, Čech was top tier. Even after the accident, I think people underrated him, despite the occasional blunder—like that match against Turkey during the Euros.
Go ahead and add that one player you think is missing to your list, regardless of who I picked. Honestly, trying to narrow down the top 20 midfielders or forwards is a nightmare—someone always gets left out, and 30 would just be overkill. I was actually a bit surprised to see Oliver Kahn leading the vote. His absolute prime was back at the turn of the millennium when he basically carried the team through the Major League Soccer era and that silver medal run in Korea and Japan. After that, even though he was legendary, Bayern Munich didn't dominate the league quite as hard because they had to deal with a tough Werder Bremen and later VfB Stuttgart, not to mention the LP. Still, his presence in the net was unmatched; he had this insane authority and charisma. If you compare him to Manuel Neuer, Kahn was already a beast back when he was with Schalke 04. He deserves way more credit for the 2014 FIFA World Cup than people give him, despite that one mistake in the final. We're here to debate, but over there, they're just voting.

Jessica Gonzalez said:It feels a bit early to start a new poll or thread since we've already crowned Pele and Messi as our winners. Maybe we could try something else instead, like picking an all-time best XI, the greatest national team, or even the best coach? I guess we haven't really covered those topics yet.

The results ended up being a wash, which is exactly why I started this. It would be cool to do an all-time best lineup, but there's a catch. You might pick Roberto Carlos as your left back, sure, but most people here didn't actually watch the defenders from the 70s or 80s. They just scroll through YouTube or catch highlights of Pele and Maradona and think they're experts.

People always get into these endless debates about whether Ronaldinho belongs in the top 10 all-time. It’s always the same split: half the crowd looks at his actual career stats, while the other half is just obsessed with how insane his peak was.

Hey everyone, welcome. I know this has been chewed over before and the debate dragged on forever, but let's kick off another one of the greatest discussions in sports. Looking at that old thread, the whole Pele vs. Messi thing ended in a mess because the voting was a disaster. My original plan was to pick the top 20 players ever and then spend weeks voting them out one by one—starting with the "worst" of the elite until we were left with just Messi and Maradona. But honestly, that would have taken months. Too much work. So, I figured it’d be easier to just pick 15. I went with 15 because picking only ten might be
a bit too stingy. Let's aim for 15 legends who actually changed the game, so we don't end up with names like Dejan Savicevic, Mlinaric, or van der vaart—huge respect to them, obviously, but they aren't quite in this tier. Here’s how it works: first place gets 15 points, second gets 14, and so on. Keeping it simple. I'll post the updated point totals at the end of each day. We'll see how long this lasts depending on how many people jump in.

My personal GOAT list.

1.Ronaldo(Bra) (15).

2.Messi (14).

3.Maradona (13).

4.Ronaldo (12).

5.Ronaldinho (11)

6.Zidane (10)

7.Pele (9)

8.Crujff (8)

9.Maldini (7)

10.Di stefano (6)

11.Euzebio (5)

12.Beckenbauer (4)

13.Romario (3)

14.Puskas(2)

15.Ibrahimovic(1)
