Oh, you poor little thing... boo-hoo... such a hungry little baby... would the little baby like some food? Come on now... one can of soup for Mommy... one for Daddy... and maybe some for Grandma and Grandpa too...
We can't have the baby going hungry... wouldn't want any developmental issues, right?

Can we get a little... empathy here? 👎

Look, I actually had amazing meals when I was in the service (we’re talking black risotto, octopus salad, the works...), so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to foreign militaries.

Honestly, I wouldn't say that...

You've got some serious issues going on.

As for the other one, it isn't 😬

Now I'm looking at the price list from MS Industrial, and it clearly states their 550W unit goes for $42 🤣
$23 per watt 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 I mean, that has to mean top-tier quality, stability, and safety, right?

Anyway, let me jump in here and get back on topic for a second...

I just finished a massive overclocking session on my Intel Core 2 Duo (2.8 GHz)

Here’s where things stand right now:

CPU: 4.1 GHz @ 1.4V
FSB: 1174 MHz (I've got an unlocked processor, so I bumped the default FSB from 1066)
RAM: 880MHz @ 2.2V (one pair is A-data and the other is Crucial, both rated at 667MHz)

I've been surfing the web totally stable for about 20 minutes now, 😬but I really need to throw a heavy load at this thing to see how it actually holds up.

As for the power supply, I'll be dropping an OCZ PowerStream 600W into the rig later tonight or sometime tomorrow just to give myself some room for upgrades.😁

MS industrial?

Hmm... if you're selling it, whatever you do, don't sell it to a buddy. You don't want to lose a friend over a bad deal, right?

- 2 x 1 MB cache
- Socket LGA 775
- BUS 533 MHz
- Prescott core
- EM64T
- Dual core intel d 805
I'm currently running a Barton 2600 and I'm super happy with it, but I was thinking about picking up an AMD Athlon 3200 64 bit. This one caught my eye though because the price is pretty low, around $367

It's basically dual-core for the masses! It costs about the same as a slightly beefier Celeron, yet you still get that dual-core performance. The only real downside is the 533MHz FSB, but if you pair it with a decent motherboard and overclock everything by about 25%, you can push the FSB to 666 😈MHz and hit 3.18 GHz on the CPU—which isn't bad at all for $367.

Anyway, staying on topic, my Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz) is running totally smooth and stable at 3.64 GHz. That's with a 1040 MHz FSB and memory (DDR2 667) bumped up to 867MHz.

slycrane94 said:And what were the prices like? Sometimes you'll see audio for up to $0.70 or DVDs for about $1.50, but that's usually just for ancient stuff or things nobody actually wants.

Take Emerson, Lake & Palmer, for example—3 CDs for $1.80 (buying them individually costs more, but it's great how the price drops when you bundle them). That’s just one example. My buddy used to pick up classic rock CDs for maybe $1.00 to $1.20 each, but
a) you can't find that kind of deal here in the US,
b) and even if you could, they'd cost way more than $50, because high-quality classic pressings are insanely expensive.
Honestly, from what I've seen, music and movie prices in America are higher than over there, and the selection is way smaller!
The truth is, we weren't exactly buying whatever was "hot" at the moment, so maybe that's why the prices stayed reasonable. Who knows how much people would pay for some old-school hits or today's teen pop trash? 😬
Sure, there was plenty of junk too—like getting 5 items (DVDs or CDs) for $1.00—but we never found 5 things we actually wanted for that little money. 😁There was all sorts of random stuff, like yodelers, Elvis Presley impersonators, and whatnot...

slycrane94 said:Also, I'm not even sure where you picked all that up. Even in Sweden, there are pirates selling stuff at flea markets.

One spot was a sci-fi bookstore at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, and the other was this massive two-story CD and DVD shop right near downtown. We definitely weren't just buying stuff from some random street vendor! 😬

slycrane94 said:Not in Sweden.

Oh, come on! You know we were just in Stockholm...
I’m telling you, those CD and DVD prices totally blew our minds—in a good way! Honestly, I was actually a little nervous at customs; I was worried they might think we were trying to smuggle music and movies because of how much stuff we picked up!
Piracy?! in Software ·
slycrane94 said:Exactly. Even everywhere else, anyone with half a brain thinks charging $30 for a DVD is ridiculous. And don't even get me started on paying $20 for an audio CD that comes with some garbage DRM that wrecks your computer and prevents you from listening to your paid music wherever you want.

Look, from what I understand about certain Scandinavian countries, DVD movies cost way less there than they do here in the US, even though their standard of living is much higher.

If I were pulling in $10,000 - $15,000 a year, and a special edition or director's cut of Blade Runner cost $37, would I even bother messing around with piracy? Probably not!

We spent a ton of money on movies and music back in the day, yet it ended up costing us half of what we'd pay in New York. When you can pick up 3 CDs for less than $50, why would you even think about burning copies?

Don't quote me 100% here, but I think the smart shop moved closer to downtown. It’s in that first courtyard on the right after Frankopanska (heading toward the square).
