I'm wondering at what temperature would this processor actually melt? I mean, I'm thinking about using it as a grill for my burgers sometime, so I need to know...
It’s not going to melt unless you toss it into a high-heat oven!😁 And honestly, that info about the operating temperature is total garbage. I used to run that exact chip, so I know firsthand how it handles heat.
It’s not a crazy question at all! I remember stumbling upon some guy's website ages ago—he was a total Linux enthusiast who had absolutely zero use for Windows. I can't recall the exact URL or how he actually pulled it off, but I'm pretty sure you can totally set up a system like that.
So, what's the deal? Why don't you want Windows?
By the way, just so you know, you're mostly paying for the license, not the physical media. That said, I'm not sure if it's even worth the headache to mess around with it.
You probably can, but legally speaking, you shouldn't since those are OEM Windows licenses bundled with the machine. You might run into trouble if you aren't doing a clean install and instead try using some random image just to flash onto the drive. On newer machines, Windows isn't (or at least shouldn't be) activated yet.

Man, there was this one absolute disaster of an nForce driver revision that just corrupted every single packet passing through it. At first, I was sitting there wondering what on earth was going wrong with all my downloads—stuff like antivirus updates, Freeciv installers, you name it—until my PC started blue screening constantly (it was an issue with http.sys). So, I went hunting for answers online (thank God for having a second computer!) and found a post on the Nvidia forums explicitly stating that particular driver version was complete garbage. There was some workaround involving disabling a specific Windows service to stop the blue screens, but as far as the firewall went, there was no fix other than just turning it off entirely. Honestly? After that nightmare, I wouldn't touch an nForce chipset even if someone handed it to me for free...

So, what exactly is everyone's beef with the CIA? Look, if this stuff was actually the total garbage you all claim it is, nobody would even touch it! People would have just walked away from development entirely. Why would anyone bother?
Honestly, I’m starting to think most of you don't even have a clue how to tune this thing properly! Is it just me, or are people just hating on someone else's hard work because they're too clueless to do it themselves?

It’s not about how the question is asked; it’s about how it’s expressed. Since everyone is losing their minds here, I'm going to quote a post (which I already deleted from that other thread) that was directed at Tigman—who, let's be real, has been around this forum a long time, knows his stuff, and has helped plenty of people out before.
Look, dummy, don't try to act like a genius with me. If you know the answer, just say it. If you don't, shut up.
Seriously, hello? My first instinct was to ban him right then and there, but I was in such a great mood yesterday that I just cleaned up the mess and closed the thread.

Must be the brain of a US Air Force reservist 😁
Let's not get carried away, John Palmer4. A person has the right to be who they are; we shouldn't just insult them openly like that. If you were under my command, you'd be bleeding. I honestly can't stand little guys like you who can't function without a personal valet, a maid, and a private chef... missing a single meal would probably be the biggest crisis of your life!
