Honestly, the highlight of the entire race for me was just watching the press conference, specifically hearing Fernando Alonso act like the entire public is somehow brain-dead and half-blind. 👍 🙏

If you think you're doing so great, then the old man is practically a saint this season.😛

You're just talking nonsense... honestly, it's a waste of breath. 😛
In theory, Vettel could have grabbed seven championships. But if we're looking at what actually happened on the track, only Michael Schumacher pulled that off. ☕

stormybadger8 said:even if he went out and won every single race left on the calendar, I honestly doubt he’d actually pull off the championship title.🤣

and even if something like that actually happened—say, winning five or six races in a row at tracks like the USA🤣—I just can't see it happening.😂

Logic and what you personally believe don't really factor into this.
We're talking about a THEORY here. 😛

Aha. In theory, even Schumacher could be a champion. 😁

Webber is offering a bit of an apology, though it looks more like he just got chewed out by management. 😬

Why would he be getting heat for it?
Honestly, his reaction makes perfect sense if he’s actually trying to wrap up the season without everything blowing up in his face. He basically just said what a certain group of people were itching to hear, and that's all there is to it. Webber is a blunt instrument, and no amount of apologizing is going to change his DNA. If he gets handed the reins again, he'll probably pull the exact same stunt. 👍

slydrifter39 said:Look, I’m anything but a McLaren fan, to put it mildly, but saying anyone other than Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button deserves the title this season is just wild. Take Fernando Alonso, for example; he does all this dramatic zig-zagging left and right to "show his intent" while trying to muscle past a Toro Rosso, a Force India, or a Virgin, but the whole overtake ends up dragging on for twenty laps. And let’s be real, he only ended up stuck behind a Virgin because he completely botched his qualifying or the start. Then you’ve got Vettel, who usually ends up in a wall or crashing into whoever he’s trying to pass. Or Mark Webber, who drives like a god once every three races. Give me a break. These two Englishmen are the only ones showing any consistency and actually giving it their all—even if Jenson Button drives a bit too politely and never messes up the strategy, even if he is slightly slower, and Lewis drives with a bit of flair, occasionally hitting a wall here and there, but still racking up more wins. Basically, what I'm getting at is that while Webber is a great guy, he's got about as much championship potential as Felipe Massa. In that light, arguing over whether he or Vettel is the bigger disappointment is pointless, since neither of them is a real factor except for being a constant nuisance to the McLarens' winning streak.

I’ve become way too addicted to Facebook and I genuinely miss having a "like" button.
If this forum had one, I would definitely be hitting that "like" button on this post! 👍 🙏

What exactly did he mess up at the Miami Grand Prix?
God knows what everyone else is saying behind closed doors, but we never hear it. We just don't know. Of course, with a personality like Alonso's, he’s always going to be the center of the storm. Every single word gets magnified, and half the time, it's twisted just to suit the narrative.

Everyone is focusing on the wrong thing here, nitpicking about Lewis. If the SC had come out five or six seconds earlier—which I’m certain they could have and should have done—right in front of Vettel, this entire debate wouldn't even exist.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the results or something else entirely.
Alonso managed to claw his way back into the points twice after starting dead last, even though the car was pretty mediocre. Honestly, I can't find much to complain about—more respect than criticism from me.

Must be nice. 👍

Amanda Kelly, I get how it feels to "blindly" root for someone.
But nobody needs to over-analyze or spin Alonso's statements. He does a perfectly fine job of doing that himself: Alonso is trying to de-escalate things.

Can we at least agree that race control completely botched the situation with the SC at the European Union Grand Prix? They totally lost their grip...

I'm not defending Hamilton, but I think he took a gamble (either on his own intuition or because the pit wall told him to) and in the end, as unfair as it might seem, he came out on top.

I mean, when things are going his way, he's the king, the genius, the absolute best, and the car is nothing short of a masterpiece.
But the moment things go south, everyone else is to blame... the rivals on track, the stewards, the regulations, a car setup that just wasn't right for the race, the tires, the timing, Massa, Hamilton, the SC, blah, blah, blah... there's always an excuse ready to go. It reminds me of how Ivica Kostelić used to be a couple of years ago. Everyone was responsible for a bad result except him. But unlike Alonso, Kostelić eventually grew up and started admitting when he was the one at fault for a poor finish.

Amanda Kelly said:I typed this out while our esteemed moderator was busy locking the thread:

You're exaggerating in your portrayal.
Lewis Hamilton would have been sanctioned regardless of whatever Ferrari communication went down; nobody should have had to report it. He was too overweight and the violation was too obvious.
Besides, the penalty is a joke (honestly, more like a reward).

I’ve been reading through this, and the one thing I see—mostly from you McLaren drivers—is just pure hatred and animosity toward Alonso. It's an intense level of intolerance and people actually enjoying seeing him struggle.
There's not enough intelligence or decency here; you're just needlessly trashing your own reputation.
But if that's how it's going to be, fine.

I have to admit, I’m finally starting to understand the people who could never bring themselves to like Michael Schumacher. For the longest time, I was always the one coming up with endless excuses and a million different justifications for his aggressive, arrogant, and frankly obnoxious attitude. 😍

Since his last year at Renault, moving through that stint at McLaren, and now finishing up this season at Ferrari, Alonso has become for me what Michael Schumacher was to all the anti-Schumacher crowd: (or maybe still is) that polarizing figure. Look, there’s no denying he’s an incredible talent, but... by constantly whining and shouting about how everyone is being unfair to him (as if he’s actually yelling it out loud), combined with those "top-tier" performances at Ferrari, he’s just losing all credibility.

Alonso (alongside Mass) managed to pull off something I thought would never happen—they actually made me lose interest in Ferrari, a team I’ve supported since the very first time I sat down to watch Formula 1. 👎

Which, in principle, isn't even that big of a deal.
I have my one favorite driver and a handful of others I root for.
Now, I can sit back and watch the races completely relaxed and without any of the usual stress. 😍
