2.1 Speaker Setup Recommendations in Desktops ·
I’m planning to pick up some 2.1 speakers within the next month.

I'm not entirely sure how to weigh my options, so I figured I'd ask for some input here.
Local shops in my area are definitely the most convenient choice to avoid shipping costs—either LinkedIn or Hard Rock Cafe—unless there's an incredible deal online that actually makes paying for delivery worth it.

Here is what I’ve been looking at:

As a budget entry-level option:

Or perhaps something slightly more substantial:

The goal is to listen to music, watch movies, and play games—assuming I eventually upgrade my GPU.

Do you have any suggestions or advice? Thanks.

PS: I know there's a dedicated peripherals subforum, but I’m also aware that I’ll likely never get a response over there. 🙂

I’m looking to do a bit of research on monitors.

I need a 24'' IPS panel. Ideally, I want something budget-friendly that isn't complete junk. It would be a plus if I could pick it up at a local shop in San Francisco or just find something with reasonable shipping costs.

I came across this one, but I don't know much about monitors myself—all I know is that I want at least a 24'' screen and an IPS panel, based on a friend's recommendation.

I probably won't be pulling the trigger on a new GPU until mid-year,
so for now, I'm just doing some reconnaissance.

My CPU is an i5 4460
and I'm running a 600W Fortron PSU.

What do you all think makes for a solid, future-proof GPU?
My goal is to find something that can reliably push most games at a stable 40 FPS at 1080p on high settings for the next few years. My theory is that we won't see massive leaps in graphical fidelity during this current generation, so an AMD Radeon R9 280X might actually be more than enough to get the job done.
What are your thoughts?
PC Build under $300 in Desktops ·
Hi there, my parents have decided it's finally time to get a PC.
I'm just looking for the tower itself.
Their needs are pretty basic: web browsing and general daily tasks. Nothing intensive like gaming.

My budget is up to $1,500, though I'd ideally like to keep it in the $100 range.

Thanks

Is there any decent club near the student center, specifically around the campus area in Split?

I'm interested in MMA.

Question:

How much of a noticeable difference is there in image quality when comparing 1080p vs. 1440p vs. 4K?

Here is a clip of my deadlifts from month seven.

I kept this session to 12 minutes. On the odd minutes, I hit 5 deadlifts, and on the even minutes, I moved into 3 muscle ups—or chest-to-bar pull-ups, depending on how you look at it.

I've been looking into i7 processors lately, specifically the i7 4790k, and it mentions having integrated Intel HD 4600 graphics. Looking at some benchmarks, that integrated chip seems to perform better than an HD 4670 or even an HD 4850. Is that actually possible, or have I misread something?
My apologies if I'm mistaken; I’ve been out of the loop on hardware specs for quite a while now...

On another note, I have a question regarding CPUs (and please excuse me for posting this in the wrong thread): is it worth opting for the i7 5820k over the i7 4790k when you consider the price difference? Thinking long-term—say, over the next five years or more—does the 5820k offer any technological advantages over the 4790k that might become relevant down the road?

Here’s a clip from my latest session

This was actually my first time ever successfully pulling off a muscle up.
I managed 4 sets of 3, and this particular clip shows the third set.
On another note, since my last update, I’ve bumped my squat up to 320 lbs and my power clean to 230 lbs.

Quick update

Currently at 178 lbs (likely closer to 176 lbs in the morning)
5'11"

I’ve seen some solid strength gains over the last month. My squats and similar movements are still pretty underwhelming, but my pressing numbers have absolutely taken off.

So, here is the progress from this past month (before ---> after)

Squat
265 lbs 3x3 -----> 285 lbs 3x3

Front Squat
255 lbs x1 -----> 285 lbs x1

Power Clean
200 lbs x1 ----> 220 lbs x1

Push press
200 lbs x3 ----> 220 lbs x3

Bench press
275 lbs x2 ------> 330 lbs x1

I haven't really touched the deadlift, aside from one session.
By the end of September, I’m aiming to hit a 400 lb deadlift, a 330 lb+ squat, and a 265 lb power clean & jerk.

And here are some back shots, since I haven't posted those yet.

Here’s one who looks pretty gaunt—still under 175 lbs, but her strength numbers are actually improving.

I just stumbled upon two more photos from last summer

One was a bit spontaneous
Now, I wasn't exactly at my peak here; my best shape was actually a few pages back

And one that was a little less spontaneous (taken about two weeks after the previous one)

I finally managed to carve out a week away from my college coursework, so I dove straight back into training. A week of solid work is definitely better than nothing at all.
To give you some context, I haven't really trained since mid-September of last year; I'm planning to get back into a serious routine once I wrap up my finals in early July. 😢

These photos are actually from last week. I only took shots of my legs because my upper body has completely atrophied, and whatever muscle is left is buried under a layer of fat.
(By the way, I haven't worked my legs since August 2010.)

Back again.

Here are some shots from this past summer. I had taken about a nine-month break from training to focus on college, starting back at around 210 lbs of unrefined mass. I managed to hit this physique in roughly two months.

I've since put some weight back on now that classes have started back up.😢

It depends on the circumstances, but generally speaking, I find there's plenty of room to disregard them.

😁 I was really just looking for the charts.
