I mean, if we’re talking about handball in the penalty area, maybe they should just let it slide? I was watching that play by Scholes, and honestly, that hand goal was pure magic—I don't think even I could have executed it any better myself!
It’s certainly not too late! If you just put in some work to build up your stamina, get your headspace right, and prepare yourself mentally, you'll be more than ready to dive into chess, and honestly, isn't true experience something that simply unfolds naturally over time?
Oh man, just think about it! In a few years, we’ll all be sitting there watching Benavent and Iag make their big moves, while everyone else who just couldn't quite catch a break for one reason or another will be stuck at home? Can you imagine? They'll be glued to the TV watching the Champions League, dreaming of the big leagues, while in the absolute best-case scenario, they might end up signing with some small-time semi-pro outfit out in the Midwest...
It isn’t quite that simple when you're playing at the professional level, is it? Everyone has their specific role to play and they really have to respect the manager's calls—after all, that’s exactly what they’re being paid to do! I’ll admit, I used to think Vieira wasn't much of an offensive threat, but after watching him absolutely flatten three different players onto the grass during one match, I completely changed my mind. It’s not his job to be out there dancing around with the ball; there are plenty of others better suited for the flashy dribbling, but when it comes to shuting things down on defense, you just won't find anyone better...
Oh, goodness, time really does have a way of catching up with us, doesn't it? You start feeling those little aches in your back, maybe noticing things aren't quite as sharp as they used to be, or realizing you have to turn the volume up just a tad on the TV... It makes me think back to my younger days 🙂... But honestly, I’ve noticed lately that I’m starting to feel all these physical twinges myself, and while I suppose it's all perfectly natural as we age, there's one tiny little catch—I am only nineteen years old! 🤔... I wasn't entirely sure where to post this, so I figured the health section might be the best spot, but if anyone out there has gone through something similar or perhaps has some wisdom to share 🤷
From what I recall, girls are allowed to play alongside the boys until they hit about 14, right? Like, during the middle school years. I actually saw one girl playing against our youth team once, and man, she absolutely ran circles around them! She was playing so well that we couldn't help but tease our boys about getting schooled by her...
Man, what I wouldn't give just to catch one more glimpse of Zidane out there on the pitch playing his magic... honestly, the man was something else entirely!
Now, don't get me wrong, Balić is arguably the best player on the planet right now, but if you ask me? Mirza Džomba is the absolute king! You can really feel his absence in the national team lately; they just don't have that scoring punch from the wing anymore, do they? I mean, when he was at the top of his game—which, granted, hasn't been quite the case recently—those step-back shots and those incredible leaps of his were nothing short of phenomenal!
We'll just have to wait and see how much they can actually stomach during this tournament, because once he starts to falter, the whole damn empire is going to come crashing down, don't you think?
mistycyclist51 said:Look, since we're actually on a soccer subforum here, maybe try to tell Jaap Stam and Rio Ferdinand apart... 👍 Stam actually got forced out because he dropped some truth bombs in his autobiography "Head to Head" that Sir Alex Ferguson just wasn't feeling...
And let’s not forget, he was also quite the fan of the nightlife!
He used to be my absolute hero, especially since I play center back myself, though these days I find myself looking up to guys like John Terry and Sol Campbell. It really is such a shame to see yet another legend walking away from the game, isn't it? Honestly, that particular era of players was just my favorite generation out of everyone, you know? Just think about that lineup: Zidane, Paolo Maldini, Jaap Stam, Roberto Carlos, Rui Costa, Juan Sebastián Verón, Rivaldo, Pavel Nedvěd, Lilian Thuram, Ryan Giggs, Luís Figo, Dwight Yorke, Dwight Yorke, Coca-Cola, Cafu, and Ronaldo... but hey, what can you do? One by one, they're all slowly moving on...
