Otherwise, a decent upgrade path might be getting a new cooler so you can push the overclocking closer to 4GHz—maybe a Cooler Master Hyper 212 for $66—plus a GTX 1650 ($367) which might end up being a bit much for the CPU, though you could just hang onto it while upgrading the processor.

I guess Massa only went for that tactic because he was basically playing desperation moves; he had nothing left to lose since he started P16 and nobody honestly expected him to walk away with any points anyway. I guess neither Ferrari nor Alonso was ever in such a desperate spot that they would have actually gone through with that... maybe.
What do you mean, Massa? I think you might be a little lost there. 😬
The power delivery looks solid, especially with that 4+1 phase setup and the VRM cooling. It should handle a Phenom... maybe an x4 945 would work, though you'll probably need to flash a beta BiOSA first.

An earlier pit stop can work sometimes. I guess Fernando Alonso pulled that off back in 2012 right here, specifically when those new soft tires needed about 5 or 6 laps just to get up to temp. It might have been a bit tougher here given the heat, but I suppose there was a window of opportunity.
It all looks a bit strange... he already made a huge mistake at Massenet, and then maybe he just thought he'd go for a Hail Mary lap or nobody would pull off a full circuit. Word is he braked about 20m later than his best lap, plus there was that weird line and the steering input... I guess I'm 50-50 on it.
I’m somewhat on board regarding the motherboard, but I was actually thinking about the 250W 😉 TDP can be pretty misleading; it’s basically just an overclocked HD 7950, which pulls about 150W.
The test rig uses a much beefier board, plus a 4770K that probably draws at least 20-30W more.

I guess 450W should be plenty. That i5-3350P doesn't pull much at all (only 69W), so the whole rig probably won't even hit 250W under full load. Plus, you get that Z77 board, so maybe you can play around with the TurboBoost multiplier for an extra 300-400MHz if you feel like it. 🙂
Jesse Williams13 said:So what should I set it to then? Is it that system memory multiplier I currently have at 2.0?
The 1:2 ratio (your current 2.0) is probably what you're seeing by default. Usually, you'd drop that down to 1:1.66—or something similar depending on the BIOS—because when you bump up the FSB, you're technically overclocking the RAM too. Lowering it might help prevent the system from crashing.
Are you running a Corsair CX 600? That should handle an NVIDIA GTX 770 without breaking a sweat—honestly, even my 360W unit manages to push an NVIDIA GTX 770 and an Intel Core i5 3570 just fine.😉
If you're actually thinking about picking up the CX 600, there might be some better options out there, I guess.
Or you could just grab everything right now and just swap out the power supply later once you've saved up a few bucks for a Chicony Hipro 400 w or a Fortron Hex 400 W.
