I guess we should probably talk about CPUs.
Intel Core 2 duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz is sitting at 36 °C. I guess that's pretty decent.
The Conroe 65nm technology is finally here. It’s an interesting step forward, I guess.
Maybe we should talk about RAM.
Maybe 2.0GB of Dual-Channel DDR2 running at 399MHz (with 5-5-5-18 timings).
Maybe just a motherboard? I guess we'll see.
ASUS 965P-DS3 (Socket 775)
Graphics.
SyncMaster running at 1280x1024.
256MB Radeon X1950 Pro (Omega 3.8.442) (ASUS)
Power supply.
I guess a 450W Chieftec might do the trick, maybe.

What kind of graphics card should I look for if my budget is around $1,200?$433I was looking at the MSI N460GTX CYC.768D5/OC, but honestly, I’m a bit out of my depth when it comes to hardware. Just one more question: would it be any smarter to go out and buy a new 4 GB stick of DDR3, or should I just try upgrading what I've already got?

I saw an ad online for an Intel Core 2 duo E6600. It looks like a decent little chip if you just need something basic to get by. I guess it might be worth picking up for a budget build, though I'm not entirely sure.

Maybe offer him $550 for that processor.$200

This card:

I saw this listing for a graphics card online. It looks like an interesting find, though I guess it depends on what you're looking to get out of it. Maybe worth a look if you need something specific.

RAM:

I saw this listing for some RAM on Craigslist earlier. It looks like a decent deal, I guess, if you're looking to upgrade an older system. Maybe worth a look if you need the extra memory.

Total: ~$433

I guess Nico Hulkenberg is probably praying to every god out there that we get some light rain tomorrow...

Having all that extra downforce compared to the guys running a full dry setup might end up costing him quite a bit...

It seems pretty accurate that he's carrying more downforce; he was about two-tenths slower than Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber in the third sector, but over a second faster overall😁

Kulermešter 😁

The one with all the extra LEDs and fans. 🤣

I haven't had much time to dive deep into this specific armor set yet, but looking at the specs, it seems like a solid option for anyone trying to balance protection with mobility. It’s probably worth checking out if you're building a loadout around similar gear.

SEASONIC 430W, SS-430GB, S12, active PFC
SILVERSTONE Strider 500W, Essential ST50F-ES AC 90-264V, 47/63Hz

I was thinking about grabbing the Silverstone. The first page of this thread says it's good, but then I read something about some plastic melting inside it pretty quickly, making it super noisy and causing vibrations and stuff like that.
So, I'd love some input. I was ready to just order everything, but then I stumbled onto this "issue." Since I'm on a tight budget, I really want to make sure I'm spending my money wisely. Thanks, everyone.

You probably read that from someone running dual HD 5870s and an Intel Core i7 overclocked to 4.5 GHz; maybe it runs a bit hot in those setups.☕

Out of these, the Silverstone is solid. For the same price, you get more wattage if you go with the Corsair, while the Fortron is definitely a lower tier. Also, I think the newer Corsair CX series isn't quite as high-quality as the older ones—it looks like they switched manufacturers if I read that right.😉

I was hoping to get some advice on which GPU I should pick up for about $250.

Motherboard - ASROCK 890 FX Deluxe3, AMD 890 FX/850, DDR3, audio, S-ATA, RAID, G-LAN, PCI-E, CrossfireX, USB 3.0, ATX, s. AM3

CPU - AMD Athlon ii x4 640 box, s. AM3, 3.0GHz, 2MB c.

PSU - 500W, LC POWER Office Series, ATX v2.2, 120mm fan, PFC

RAM - 4GB

Thanks in advance 😉

p.s. maybe something that isn't super loud 🙂

What's the point of a board like that? 😕

I mean, I guess you aren't planning on overclocking to 3.8 GHz, right? 😛

1 x AMD Athlon ii x4 640 processor, socket AM3, BOX, 2Mb cache, 95W
1 x PointOfView NV GTS450 1024MB 783/3608 128bita, 2xDVI, miniHDMI
1 x SILVERSTONE Strider 500W, Essential ST50F-ES AC 90-264V, 47/63Hz
1 x Gigabyte 870A-UD3 rev 2.1, AMD 870+SB850, S. AM3, 6xSATA 3.0
1 x DDR3 4GB (2x2GB) Kingmax, 1333MHz, FLFE

$1104

Maybe he should just grab it from the local shop nearby if he doesn't care about $8.25 😁

Bryan Evans77 said:@ crimsonstag84... you could just pick up a brand new 5670 512mb gddr5 for about $200 👍

I mean, that’s probably the smartest move, honestly. It saves you from having to swap out the power supply, and the HD 5670 is pretty low on power consumption anyway.👍

AMD ATHLON 64 X2 5000+, 2.6 GHZ
GEFORCE 8500GT 512 mb

400 w power supply
19" monitor

What could I actually fit in here? 🙂

This might be just about right:

Just let us know the brand on that power supply. I'd hate to think it's some random junk or something like Codegen, MS COM, or Inter-Tech—those cheap pieces of tin.😁

I want to grab a new graphics card—something fast and better—but looking at my current rig, what specs should I actually hunt for so I don't waste money? I can't afford a whole new PC right now...

Thanks a lot,...

http://www.localpub.com/44957/graphics-card-toshiba-gt-220

I was thinking about this one... is it any good? Like, would this hold its own until I finally upgrade the rest of the build?

Not really, it isn't much of an upgrade over what you have now... and I'd steer clear of that local pub, their prices are absolutely insane.🙂

Something like this might be a better bet:
http://www.usa.com/product_info.php?c...oducts_id=7946

If you're running some off-brand power supply, I think you'll be fine since the HD 5670 actually pulls less power than the HD 2600XT.😉

Maybe some of that luck could swing over to Red Bull; McLaren really took a beating with bad luck lately.😁

Lewis Hamilton 🤦

He just can't seem to find his rhythm, even though he was clearly faster than Fernando Alonso 😢

As long as he keeps pushing and doesn't give up, I guess McLaren should be pretty competitive over these last three tracks 👍

Jenson Button looked a bit sluggish on those hard tires—it felt like a total tactical mess...

Kamui Kobayashi 🙏

I've got this H55M UD2H. I see it's an LGA 1156 socket, and the Intel Core i5 760 I have is also LGA 1156... so does that processor actually fit on this board? I found an H55M S2H for $167, which is also LGA 1156, but I'm not crazy about it since it only has two RAM slots, meaning I'd be capped at 8GB max. 🤷

Lewis said he thought the overtake was already done, wrapped up. He clearly expected Mark Webber to back off just enough to let him through. And as for not seeing him? It was a blind spot. I believe him.

But honestly, after moves like that, Mark Webber has basically built himself an invisible shield. Everyone’s going to think twice before messing with him on the track now.
