Advice for buying a gaming PC! in Desktops ·
Maybe I should mention the Toshiba DT01ACA050 HDD SATA3 7200 500GB. It’s just a standard drive, I guess.
I guess this is just a standard 4GB stick of Silicon Power CL11 DDR3 RAM running at 1600MHz (part number SP004GBLTU160N02). Maybe it'll do the job.
It’s just an MS Industrial ALBATROSS case, without the power supply.
Maybe it's worth looking at the AMD Athlon ™ x4 Quad-Core 860 k, specifically the 28nm Black Edition version running at 3.70GHz. It's an FM2+ socket CPU, I guess.
MSI A68HM-E33 FM2+ motherboard.
I guess the LC-Power Cosmo Cool LC-CC95 CPU cooler might be worth a look.
Thinking about picking up an AMD Radeon R7 260x Powercolor OC with 1GB of DDR5—it’s got DVI, HDMI, and DP ports. I guess it might work depending on what you're looking for.
LC Power Silent Giant 560W, LC6560GP3 V2.3 power supply.

Total: 500 miles Looks like we've got a winner.

The Ninja 3 weighs in at nearly double what the CNPS10X Performe does, so they’re actually within a degree or two of each other.

Anyway, I guess paying for the $50 LC-CC-120 feels like a total rip-off.

But then there's the A30:

I was about 80% sure just looking at the posts 😁 ...since I didn't see him using his 'permanent' profile to answer configuration questions back when this started two years ago.

Here’s a quick tutorial:

With that cooler, you might actually be able to hit 4.5GHz, I guess.

For the GPU, you could go with an R9 290/290X or a GTX 970—maybe even a GTX 980, though those seem way too pricey to me (nearly $1667).

I guess that Seasonic Leadex 650W might actually be enough to handle two R9 290s.

$1.00 It’s actually cheaper, 1866MHz 😁

Everything else seems fine, I guess.

Zalman R1 🙂

Both the B85M-D3H and the B85-HD3 come with four RAM slots, so I guess you might as well go with the B85-HD3 for the extra room.

Oh yeah, which power supply model did you settle on, and which card are you actually going with? The R9 280 x or just the R9 280?

For the R9 280 x: 5200-$1767
For the R9 280: $1667

The R9 280 is more of a sidegrade... since it's only marginally better than a GTX 660 Ti, so it feels like a waste of money. A real upgrade would be the R9 290.

If you absolutely have to, I guess an EVGA SuperNOVA 650 W would be your best bet.

Dell Inspiron Desktop Intel Core i5 $40
Intel Core i5 $67
4 GB DDR2 $83
R7 250 Sapphire 1 GB GDDR5 Warranty? If there's about a year or maybe 1.5 years left, that would be $150
500 GB HDD $50
DVD-RW $17
Logitech K120 keyboard and M100 mouse $33
Aluminum case What model?
Dell Monitor 19" 150-$67

If you decide to go with that 25" monitor, I’d suggest not sitting too close to it. It looks a little bit funky at first glance, but I suppose it's still a decent option if you need it.

I actually use this one myself and I'm pretty happy with it—even though most shops seem to focus strictly on gaming gear:

I guess you might be able to get away without a fan on that GPU, but maybe try pointing one at it just to see what happens. Run a game and check your peak temps using Open Hardware Monitor running in the background.
