I don't even want to get into the whole "who's better" debate, but just look at this...
When you look at her stats compared to the top coaches, here’s what we’re seeing...

Ante Kostelić - alpine skiing...
Silver in the super combined at the Vancouver Winter Olympics...
Took second in the slalom at the Vancouver Winter Olympics...
Two firsts, one second, and two thirds in the FIS World Cup...
SK overall standings - 3rd place...

Joško Vlašić-Bojan Marinović - track and field...
World Championship gold at the Doha Championship...
Taking first place at the European Championship in Barcelona...
Named the best female athlete in all of America for 2010...
Named the best female athlete in the world for 2010...

I'm not saying the committee is actually going to flip their decision and put us ahead of Gips, but I can't help but wonder why they left out our other massive achievements from 2010...
Intercontinental Cup winner - 1st place - Split, the biggest World Athletics event of 2010...
Diamond League... she just swept all seven races... absolutely clinical performance compared to the FIS World Cup season...
Out of 20 international appearances, she’s pulled off 18 first-place finishes and two runner-ups... though with her, you never really know when that second-place finish might show up...
Best result in the world back in 2010...

No matter who you are, I think anyone else on here would lose their mind if they had something like this pulled on them...
The IOC released this list of athlete achievements, which is basically the yardstick they use to judge how successful a coach really is...
Everything's been laid out for Ivica too. Even those second and third place finishes in the FIS World Cup...
They only listed the gold medals Blanka won at the World Championship and European Championship...
So, where are all the other wins...
World Athletics Championships - Gold...
Diamond League—7 wins in 7 starts...
That’s 18 wins on the international stage...
According to the IOC, none of it even matters. All that hard work and those wins... they don't mean a thing...
And honestly, it’s no surprise that Vlašić lost his mind...
He didn't say anything against Kostelić, or even against skiing itself...
He’s strictly targeting the IOC. And honestly, if you ask me, he’s totally justified...
Even Kostelić turned that one into a Vlašić vs Kostelić thing. Just a way to downplay both track and field and basketball at the same time...

Joshua Gomez54 said:I don't see what the big deal is. Just because track and field is the king of sports doesn't mean Blanka has to compete in every single event. She sticks to the high jump and honestly, massive respect to her for dominating like that... but like Gips said, the competition in skiing is on a whole different level compared to the high jump...

It doesn't really matter if we're looking at the big picture...
Everyone knows which sports actually matter and how much people care about them...
That’s exactly why Blanka wasn't just crowned the best female athlete in America and the world, but she also... She’s officially been named the best athlete in the world and all of America....
Even though they aren't competing in every discipline, just sticking to the high jump...
Besides, Ivica isn't even competing in all the events...
If you look at it this way—World Athletics covers a massive range of different disciplines...
Blanka competes in one of those too.
But even within the FIS, there are tons of disciplines. I don't see Ivica competing in cross-country, biathlon, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, or snowboarding.
He just sticks to one small niche—alpine skiing.
And even in that tiny slice, he isn't the best in the world. He isn't even the best in a single specific segment, like the slalom.
On the flip side, Blanka is the best in all of track and field.
The fact that she was named the best female athlete in America and globally really proves her worth.
Ivica isn't even close to that level.
As far as the competition goes, the athletics federation includes 101 more countries in its organization. Not to mention you can pursue track seriously in basically any country on Earth. You can only really get serious about skiing in a very handful of places.
The fact that there are only 12 finalists in the high jump at major meets doesn't mean much.
To even get there, you have to survive the qualifiers. And before that, you have to hit the qualifying standards just to be invited to the competition. It just shows how elite you have to be just to crack that top 12.
It’s not like skiing, where you have 30 random guys in every single race.

darkwolf61 said:Regarding this specific situation, Gips is absolutely right. The guy won an award based on exactly what he was attacked for. And obviously, while maybe ten girls in the world are seriously tackling that two-meter leg spread in the high jump, the competition in skiing is way more intense.

Again, Vlašić didn't attack Kostelić, she went after the IOC. It was because they didn't account for all of Blanka's results. And then Kostelić attacked Vlašić afterward.
And it’s not just ten girls doing the high jump; it's ten elite athletes who actually do it. And they are the only ones who ever get a shot on the world stage.

I’d love to see a scenario like this happen in Abu Dhabi:
It’s the final lap of the race. Sebastian Vettel is leading, Mark Webber is right on his tail in second, and Fernando Alonso is sitting in third... 😁
I really wonder how that would play out... 😬

mistybear87 said:If anyone in that team actually had a brain and some real authority... Mark Webber would've taken the championship... 😉

Of course there would be concessions. Maybe even before the final lap if it looks like nothing's gonna change...
Man, that would be one hell of a scandal... 🤣
And even the bulls were making the most noise about not letting it slide...
It would’ve been way more clever if Sebastian Vettel let Mark Webber past a bit sooner, instead of waiting until that final lap... just to make it look less suspicious... 😬 Then you might just see Fernando Alonso pull out of it entirely... 😁

In this part:

"the red and blue replaced the red and white roughly at the same time that, overnight, the emblem of Dubrovnik changed from red and white horizontal stripes to the red and blue (Karađorđević style) seen today on the American flag."

Just to add some clarity here... 😁
As far as I know, Hajduk only wore a red and white kit for one single game. That very first one.
That combo of red and white tops with blue shorts was just too much for the Austro-Canadian authorities, so they banned the kit immediately. Back in 1911.
After that, they switched to white kits.
But they outsmarted the government by making the official club colors red and blue. So, when paired with the jersey, we ended up with the American tricolor again.
It’s the same deal with the Hajduk flag—red and blue with "Hajduk" written in white right in the middle. They basically tricked the officials to keep symbolizing the national colors.
The end result is a total rarity—Hajduk has different official club colors (red and blue) than their actual kit colors (white)...

I was listening to some Bob Dylan last night and it hit me how many of his songs are totally misunderstood. He actually avoids playing certain tracks live because people just don't get them...
Maybe the most famous example of people getting it wrong is "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." People think it’s strictly about nuclear fallout or a nuclear catastrophe, but that's not quite it. Since it was written right before the Cuban Missile Crisis, people jumped to that conclusion...
But honestly, the biggest case of a misinterpreted anthem has to be Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A."
Most people heard it (and plenty still do) as this huge, patriotic American anthem. Even Ronald Reagan fell for it, using it during his campaign and even praising Springsteen for being so patriotic. But the song is actually the complete opposite of that...
When I was a kid, I actually couldn't stand Springsteen because of that track. I thought he was just another typical American singer blowing smoke about patriotism. But then I finally saw the light 😁
Back home, people used to hunt for deep meanings in Branimir Štulić's lyrics that he never even intended. Though, to be fair, he did write things to be ambiguous on purpose...
A much milder, but still really interesting, case is that Electric Light Orchestra song "Autumn in My"...
That isn't a love song at all; it's about the passage of time. Even Hus confirmed that himself...
If I remember correctly, there was a big debate once about what "Let It All Down the River" was actually about. Was it about abortion, or something else entirely?
Anyone else have examples like this?

Hopefully Sunday treats you better 🙂
Google is blocking images on this site. At least we figured that part out 😁
Try checking this out -
You should see a ton of car photos in the posts. Can you see them?
If not, you should check your settings under tools-options-content.
And see if images are actually allowed:

Okay, I saw that they are. But there's also an Exceptions button.
That's where it lists all the sites where images are being blocked.
Maybe you accidentally hit some Ctrl shortcut that added this site to that list.
Click Exceptions and see if you have www.forum.hr on there.
If you do, just select it and hit remove site.
Edit: Just tested my theory. I added www.forum.hr to the list and had the exact same problem. Once I removed it, everything went back to normal...

It's pretty wild that Bubka only walked away with one Olympic medal.

I'm just trying to find a list of World Championship winners from the last few decades and I can't figure out
how many have won two in a row...

Only one before Blanka Vlašić...

If they just fix the diffuser, he’ll be taking pole position easy...👍

I'm actually curious about how much the diffuser matters when it's pouring rain🤷
With all that spray kicking up under the car, I wonder what happens to the airflow.
Even without the diffuser, Red Bull Racing was totally dominating today, regardless of who was driving.
