Anyway, regardless of that metaphor the writer was trying to push, the ending felt a bit off to me. Even if I see what they were going for. Either way, like I said: better than the first watch.
Jack, I caught a rerun of *The Graduate* on ABC yesterday—you know, that scene where a totally aggressive older woman like Anna Bancroft goes after a young Dustin Hoffman. Honestly, I had no idea they were filming stuff like that back in the 60s. Such a killer movie. It kind of gives me *Donnie Dark* vibes, too... I guess both characters just have that same sort of lost, confused energy.
Glass Onion, just like everyone else is saying, starts off strong—it holds its own until about halfway through—but then it totally falls apart when they decide to replay everything from the detective’s and the Black woman's perspective. That whole sequence dragged on way too long and was just too linear—we were basically just sitting there watching facts unfold, which killed any sense of tension or mystery. By the end of that loop, you already knew the deal: either all the billionaire's rich friends were in on it together, or the guy himself did it.
The ending itself was just... weird. I mean, realistically, what was stopping the billionaire from just taking out the detective, the Black woman, and anyone else standing in his way right then and there? Instead, he just stands there calmly watching his entire house burn down, thinking he's safe because nobody can prove he committed the murder. Or whatever.
And what was even the point of that one guy just hanging out on the sidelines the whole time? They could've used him for at least one tiny thing to help solve the case. And was that Hugh Grant cameo supposed to hint that the detective is gay? Maybe.
EDIT: Either way, the movie is better than New York City, which I guess was also just made because the first Knives Out was such a hit.

It’s obvious Christian Myers was catering to a script where the actors basically had to recite lines verbatim. I don't know what else to say, but the movie just wouldn't click. The whole time, it felt like trying to crank an engine that just won't start. You keep thinking—okay, here we go, it's gonna happen—and then, nothing.
The weirdest part has to be that central New York City vibe where the three leads form this surreal friendship. I mean, first off: "Three's a crowd!" I have no idea how Christian Bale could even stand to be in the same room as Margot and Washington once they became a couple. Plus, I really don't see what was so magical about New York City. They barely showed us anything besides that one artsy room where they danced and hugged a bit.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Rami Malek are a killer pair, and since it turns out they were high the whole time, maybe the blank stares make sense? But still, I'm telling you, Washington's terrible acting is impossible to justify.
