I guess my vote goes to that French miniseries starring Gerard Depardieu. It was made back in 1998.

The 2002 version was pretty mediocre.👎 The only decent part was the prison sequence, mostly because of Kamala Harris.

And I know I saw the one with Richard Chamberlain a long time ago, but I can't quite remember my impression of it...

It’s the same year, maybe comparable to those movies where Kevin Spacey just messes with everyone's heads. 😁 It was quite a brutal year for him, I guess.

Anyway, The Usual Suspects is my pick. 👍

There are several reasons. Seven is an excellently constructed film, the acting is great and all that, but to be honest, it left me feeling pretty sick. Even now, I can't look at a car air freshener shaped like a little pine tree without thinking of it; it ruined that for me forever. 🤮

I only caught the trailer, but this seems like a total rip-off of Everything Everywhere All at Once.

I guess with Pegg, it’s just aliens involved instead of God.
It feels like a pointed jab at that. 😁

I might consider this if someone else were starring in it. But since I can't even look at Sandler in a still photo, let alone watch him for a full movie, I'll pass on this one.
It’s a shame, because I usually like Columbus. The concept itself seems pretty cool.

I noticed this and immediately thought of 🙂 - Chronicles. It isn't bad, though I guess I was somewhat disappointed by the end. They could have developed it better. To me, it just feels like a teen movie with some fantasy elements.

I suppose we are missing another category. It might be a decent solution. 😁 We could split things into Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Fiction. Then Sci-Fi films would have a heavy scientific or realistic component, like future tech. Fantasy would cover the usual magic and mystical worlds. Fiction would be everything in between—I guess most superheroes would fall there. Actually, Fiction probably needs its own subcategories too...

Time travel is mostly a Sci-Fi element, though I guess it depends on the story and the core theme. Time manipulation shows up in different genres and doesn't always define the genre itself; it's often just an extra detail. I would probably put Edge of Tomorrow in Sci-Fi because of (a) aliens with plausible technology and (b) realistic Earth tech. Although, Edge of Tomorrow lacks other Sci-Fi elements. Maybe it is primarily action with some Sci-Fi elements. 😁

In Interstellar, information travels through time, and the movie is Sci-Fi by all standards.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, there is time travel, but the film is pure Fantasy.

It’s not even that complicated... 🙄 The guy spends the whole movie just interacting with one kid, while everyone else just stands there staring like statues, barely reacting to anything. I guess that isn't exactly rare in Shyamalanesque films 😁, but this was only the second one I'd seen back then, so I didn't realize that was just his style (if I had known, maybe I wouldn't have thought that way). When the kid started explaining how the ghosts don't realize they're dead, I actually figured it out. But whatever. The concept was decent, I suppose, but it doesn't matter since the whole movie is boring me anyway.

I didn't see the twist in Unbreakable coming (though my friend claims he did 😁), but man, that hit hard. 😲 And I watched that right after the sixth one.

Maybe Unbreakable stands alone. I guess there's just no competition. 👍 It was a great movie, I guess.

Everything else falls a few levels below that. I get why people think The Sixth Sense is good, but honestly, I was nearly dying of boredom watching it. I remember it being just terribly dull, I guess. 🤦 Even Bruce Willis couldn't save this one, especially since I figured out the twist way too early. I guess the movie just didn't click for me. Maybe Signs was better; it had a few deeper moments, even if the whole thing felt a bit underwhelming.

I watched The Village a long time ago, but I don't actually remember it.

The Happening. I barely made it through. It was a killer movie, I guess. 🙂

I haven't even tried watching The Last Airbender—the trailer was probably enough for me. 🤣 This topic isn't really my cup of tea, but even so, it looked pretty pathetic at first glance, I guess.

After Earth is a nonsensical story in every sense, though I guess you could still sit through it until the end. Honestly, the movie isn't quite as bad as the plot suggests; maybe Shyamalan really does have worse stuff out there. If they had just focused on surviving a toxic planet without all the extra mess, it might have been okay. Even little Smith Jr. isn't that irritating, I suppose; he's certainly not the worst.😁

My verdict: a total slog. BUT... the premise is solid. I guess I'm genuinely curious how this fairy tale would have turned out if someone else had directed it—maybe Steven Spielberg, if he was even still interested in that kind of stuff. Maybe then we'd actually get something engaging and well-paced. 🙂 I guess I found Shyamalan's filmography to be pretty irritating, unfortunately.

Honestly, what else do you expect from a country where the only thing left in film media is some tiny little shorts about movies tucked away in an educational curriculum?

But if we're being real, the internet basically killed the demand for them. I guess if a high-quality magazine actually showed up, it might find its audience, but it would take a lot of work. Most kids who used to buy things like Paramount Pictures can just find everything online in a few clicks now.

I gave my second vote to Predator 2. Even if it's weaker than the original Predator, it's a decent film. I guess I liked the ending specifically. For some reason, it shows the predators play fair and respect their opponent enough to grant them victory. It was a good move. 👍

I watched AVP a long time ago, though I don't think I even finished it. I have bad memories of it. I ignored the second one. ☕

I saw Predators recently. It isn't bad, but maybe I only say that because the director is mimicking the original. Since he's copying something good, the result is solid, though it probably would have been a better movie if someone else had the lead role. Brody doesn't fit here; I guess he isn't built for those kinds of characters.

My vote also goes to The Fellowship, without a second thought. 🙏
The Two Towers is close, but not quite there.
As for Return of the King... it's hit or miss. If it didn't rely on repetitive beats and some (frequent) weird creative choices, it might stand alongside the first film. As it is, I'd put it in third place, I guess.

And unfortunately, much further down the list... 😢

The Hobbits. At least the first two, though I haven't seen the third yet—I've just lost interest. I watch the trailer and... nothing. 😢 It doesn't appeal to me at all. A disaster... especially when I remember how I scrambled for premiere tickets when LOTR came out. I'd probably need some serious incentive to actually see this while it's still in theaters.
