When I'm sitting on the bus... in Psychology & Therapy ·
I’d honestly be pretty happy if I could just have a seat all to myself.😁
Why is there such a "God complex" among doctors? in Psychology ·
brightlynx39 said:Major respect to the medical field, though there are certainly doctors out there who don't deserve the title. Still, it's important that they hold that MD degree regardless.

Sure, some people don't earn their stripes, but that doesn't mean the whole profession is bad. Personally, I think we have some truly top-tier specialists here. Maybe I say that because I grew up in a family of doctors. One relative of mine stays late at the hospital all the time and even sees patients after hours just because they want to help—purely out of goodwill. I know plenty of doctors at that hospital, and honestly, most are total pros. For 99% of them, being a doctor is about responsibility, not just the fancy title. On the flip side, my neighbor is an OBGYN; a friend of mine went to him, and he looked at her ultrasound and told her everything was fine, even though you could practically see a cyst from an airplane. Then there’s this guy I know whose dad basically paid for all his exams; he barely scraped through med school, and now his kid has a fever and he’s completely lost because he never actually learned the material. He told me himself. There are definitely people like that, but they’re likely in the minority. It happens everywhere. It's like having a computer science professor at my college who didn't even know what a smart card was—and that's her entire field. You find incompetence in every industry, not just medicine.🤷
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Does anyone know if there are any private labs in the area? I'm looking to get some blood work done. I don't actually live here—just studying in the city for now—so I'm a bit lost. Any leads would be huge, thanks! 😉
Heart? Or something else? :S in Health ·
Thanks for the reply! I just went to stretch a bit ago and got this sharp, stabbing pain right in my chest. It was awful. Now my right shoulder blade is aching too...
And my neck is constantly sore... I’ll try those exercises, thanks for the tip 😉
Heart? Or something else? :S in Health ·
Lately, I’ve been getting these chest pains. It’s mostly a sharp, stabbing sensation that doesn't last very long. The weird part is that the pain seems to jump around to different spots every time. It usually hits when I’m just resting or if I try to stretch my back—which has been bothering me quite a bit lately, especially my neck. When I stretch, I also get this ache in my stomach area, and I already deal with some stomach issues. Can stomach problems actually cause chest pain like this? I went to see my doctor, and after listening to my heart and lungs, she sent me home saying everything sounded fine and there was no need for more tests. I’m wondering, though—can you really tell if something is wrong just by being listened to? Should I be worried? Also, what are the actual red flags for heart disease? Thanks, I hope someone can weigh in. 😁
URGENT: Need help ASAP!!! in Health ·
A friend of mine has been struggling with shoulder pain for quite a while now. She’s in her 40s and says the pain is so intense she just wants to scream. She’s already had an MRI of her shoulder and scapula, an ultrasound, and I think she mentioned getting her labrum checked out too. Everything came back totally normal, yet she literally can't even lift her right arm.
It probably isn't anything catastrophic. It could just be some kind of inflammation or maybe a pinched nerve, who knows... If she doesn't start feeling better soon, she should definitely see a doctor just so everyone can stop worrying. 😉
Keeping my fingers crossed that she feels better soon. 🙂
My mother is being a nightmare, help! in Psychology ·
I have a friend who went through basically the exact same thing. She finally decided to stand her ground and tell her mom straight up how much this was draining her. Since then, things have shifted. Her mom still expects certain things, sure, but there’s more breathing room and more freedom—it’s a slow process, but it’s definitely getting better. Honestly, my advice? Try standing up for yourself too. Show them who you really are. Nobody else is going to step up and do that for you. Fight for yourself so you don't let this destroy you. Good luck 👍
Abdominal pulsing/throbbing? in Health ·
Does a Doppler ultrasound of the neck arteries confirm that everything is generally fine with them? Mine came back clear, but I’ve got this weird fluttering sensation in my stomach :S
Even if your blood work comes back looking normal, is it still possible that something is going on under the hood?

Unfortunately, I've been fighting this exact same thing for almost 6 years now on and off, so I can't really offer any expert advice... just hoping it clears up for you soon. 😉

Thanks for getting back to me! I've got another ENT appointment next week, so we'll see. Honestly, the blurred vision is what's really messing with my head. I spend plenty of time at my desk working on the computer, but still... my mind immediately jumps to the worst-case scenario. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious!
I'm rooting for you too—six years is a long time to deal with that. Those balance issues sound incredibly frustrating...
Hey everyone, I could really use some insight here. For a while now, I’ve been feeling like I’m losing my balance whenever I walk, almost like I'm moving through a fog. Sometimes it feels like there's a tiny piece of cotton stuck right in front of my eyes, blurring my vision. About two months ago, I dealt with a nasty middle ear infection and inflammation of the eardrum. Could this be a lingering side effect from that? I tend to worry about everything, so I'm starting to freak out a bit. I saw my doctor today, and they mentioned it might be related to my ears and suggested waiting a little longer to see if things settle down. Also, even when I'm just sitting still, I get this sensation like the room is swaying. On top of that, my neck is killing me—it feels like I'm carrying a massive weight on my shoulders.
Do you think this could be coming from anxiety?
Thanks in advance for any help!! 😉

I’m going through something similar. For the last week, I’ve had this sharp, stabbing pain down below, just like my period cramps. I was expecting my cycle around then, so I figured that was the reason. But now I’m four days late—honestly, it seems like it’s late every single month—and I’m feeling those pains almost every day. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor next week, but does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Severe chest pain—what should I do? in Health ·
Thanks for all the info! It doesn't hurt when I breathe... it just spiked for a few seconds today. I got a little spooked because it felt so close to my heart... hoping this clears up quickly 😉 thanks again!

A friend of mine was turning around yesterday and accidentally caught me right in the chest with her elbow... hit me pretty hard on the left side. It hurt like crazy for a few minutes, but now it’s just tender when I touch it. Anyone have an idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance!
