I’m looking into linking two machines together—one running Windows XP Professional, and the other (unfortunately) stuck on Windows Vista. The Vista machine has Wi-Fi, but the one on Windows XP is hardwired via Ethernet. Is there any way to get them talking without buying a bunch of extra cables or some other tech gimmick? That Windows XP rig is pretty much on its last legs.
😁 Look at my count. I’m hardly a genius. 🥳 There isn't any actual experience or wisdom behind it. It’s just time sunk into my favorite subforums. As the years crawl by, the post count climbs. If you follow the rules and manage to avoid a permanent ban for a while, you'll end up with a high number too.
A short-sleeved tee isn't enough 😁 But look, there's no point in overdoing it. I ride every single day—was out yesterday, out again today—and I usually just stick to a thin tee or a light long-sleeve. Depending on how much the temperature drops, I’ll throw a track jacket or a vest over it, maybe a windbreaker if it gets biting. On my feet, it's old-school thick wool socks. Heavy knit ones under some thinner layers. No issues at all. Honestly, it's almost too warm.

do you think it’s because you actually checked off all your big life goals—or is it just because you don't need much to stay satisfied (you know, finding joy in the little things and not letting every minor setback ruin your week)?
What even is happiness?
It's a decent question. Makes you stop and think. It varies from person to person, and life experience plays a huge role.
I think the idea of luck versus misery is perfectly captured in the movie Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio and some other guy are playing poker; one guy bets big and loses, while the other takes the pot. One is fuming, yelling about his bad luck, while the other is riding high on his winning streak. Who’s actually happier? The guy losing his shirt and blaming fate, or the guy who just happened to catch a lucky hand?
Then it’s not really an issue—just a knot from a bruise or a blunt impact. A bruise is basically just mechanical damage where the skin and underlying tissue stay intact.
If it starts feeling stuck or weird, go see a doctor. Until then, just keep an eye on it. Watch for any discoloration in the skin. Green, blue, red...
🤔 It really comes down to the bite itself, how healthy you are overall, and the hygiene of the person who bit you. Honestly, thinking about how many people walk around with terrible breath, I’d say you probably should have asked first—you likely would’ve just gotten a shot and been done with it. 🤷 If it starts looking infected, go see a doctor. They'll clean it out, and you'll most likely end up on antibiotics. For what it's worth, I've been bitten by dogs a few times and it was never an issue; animals are clearly more hygienic than some people. 🙄.
I don't want to freak you out, but you should seriously consider getting blood work done. A human bite involving blood and saliva can pass on all sorts of diseases you don't want to deal with.
I watch out too. Sometimes I’ll even pull over just to clear snails off the road because people are driving like maniacs and crushing them under their tires.🙄 And it isn't just snails; I've cleared turtles off the pavement before too.
3M isn't overpriced for nothing. I picked up one of their reflective tapes once—they offer a 10-year warranty against fading and loss of reflectivity. That’s specifically for the retroreflective stuff, though. How does that compare to standard vinyl sheets? 🤷
Don't sweat the cat; they've got nine lives. 🤔 Fine, this one's down to eight. 😬 I watched a guy on a Harley run right over a stray, and the thing didn't even flinch.
Richard Bailey21 said:How can I stop letting minor mistakes from my past weigh me down? Back in my teenage years, I engaged in certain behaviors that were perfectly normal and morally sound, yet they fall into that category of things only a handful of adolescents ever do. It haunts me constantly; no matter how much success I achieve or how happy I manage to be, those memories resurface and drag me into an unbearable state of depression. It feels as though nothing I do truly matters anymore, because those moments have stripped my life of its sense of purpose. Thank you in advance.
Are you religious? If so, go talk to a priest and get it off your chest. If {{Bog}} can forgive you, you need to find a way to forgive yourself.
If not, then what's done is done. 🤷 Life works like that. One minute you think an idea is brilliant, the next you realize it was a total train wreck... Forget it. Or better yet, try to laugh at the absurdity of it all. Tell yourself it’s ancient history.
Look, while you're waiting for us to weigh in, go see your doctor and run through all of this. Dizziness can just be low blood pressure, and throwing up after pushing yourself too hard isn't exactly rare. So, did you actually overexert yourself enough to trigger the nausea? 🤷 It’s probably a mix of different things at play here. Long story short: see your physician on Monday, get the referrals for some tests, and once those results come back, let us know what's going on. Just keep the link to your current thread handy so you don't start a new one. At your age, anything is on the table. 😁

🤔 A few months back, it felt like my like bar was sitting at the bottom. 🤷 Now it’s just missing a line or two, mostly just looks narrower. 🙄 I'm using Chrome on Windows XP Pro. On my laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium, the layout in Chrome looks perfectly fine. 🤷
What if we organized some kind of cycling competition for the ladies wearing skirts? We could act as the judges—they ride, and then we decide who takes the win. We’ll snap photos for everyone who isn't in NYC, and maybe we could even do it regionally before a big finale... The winner gets 🤔 shots we took. 😁
Karen Thomas25 said:My commute is about 3.7 miles one way. It's an easy ride, no sweating involved—takes maybe 20-30 minutes there and 15 back. Plus, I can go straight from the bike to the shower at my office.
The only issue is that I want to wear a skirt to work, but I don't really have the nerve to bike like that. Heels are fine, but a skirt just isn't 🤷
Anyone here actually ride in skirts? Or is it a lost cause? There’s nowhere to change at the office (and honestly, I wouldn't want to anyway).
Not really. Can't recall ever wearing a skirt on a bike.🙂 🤔
That said, it’s always nice to see a woman cycling in a skirt.😍
