melloworca6 said:That’s not even true. I’ve been asking around because this is a massive issue for me if I end up stuck in quarantine. You can leave your pet with a sitter (or pay for a kennel), or someone else can come walk them while you stay inside. You aren't supposed to go out yourself.

I don't see how I'm endangering anyone by putting on gloves and a mask and just walking the dog alone without talking to a soul. Especially since where I live, we can easily keep our distance from everyone else.

A friend of mine is currently in isolation; she isn't showing any symptoms and lives alone with her dog. An epidemiologist told her she's perfectly fine to take the dog for walks.

Lawrence Reed3 said:So, according to what the epidemiologists are saying—and I guess they know their stuff—you're actually allowed to head outdoors as long as you stay away from crowds and don't get right up in anyone's personal space. It’s just that the people actually enforcing these rules? They don't seem to get it at all—it feels more like they're just looking for any excuse to pad their pockets.

And what about that poor soul on the tractor who got jumped and beaten up $2667?

Emily Barrett9 said:I mean, just how intense is this whole self-isolation thing supposed to be... like, if someone like me who lives completely alone ends up having to isolate, would I actually be allowed to just pop down to the local bakery right by my apartment for some bread, or maybe hit up the corner store in the neighborhood to grab a pack of beer or something?

I suppose you're only really permitted to walk the dog if you have one.

I work in the healthcare industry, and honestly—if you ask me—it looks like we won’t even have enough staff to cover our own needs, let alone everyone else. They’ll probably end up having to tighten the eligibility criteria just to keep things afloat. It's unfortunate, really... what they print in the newspapers for public consumption is one thing, but the actual reality on the ground is something else entirely.

I'm with Michelle Evans on this one. Media hype is one thing, but reality is something else entirely.
Her doctor was pretty blunt about it—said she was actually cleared for 40 doses this year, but she turned down ordering that many just so she wouldn't have to play judge and decide who gets them and who doesn't... now I don't even know what to think.

So, I have this friend—he’s a family physician, by the way—who mentioned that he actually ordered 200 doses, but only 70 showed up at his clinic. It's quite a discrepancy, really. Because of that shortage, I guess he’s going to be forced to decide on specific criteria for who gets vaccinated first. He'll likely prioritize the most high-risk individuals within the high-risk groups—something like that, anyway.

Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Amy Martinez36 said:Any recommendations for a dermatologist in Cleveland?

I see the consultation fees are around $117, so I’m not exactly looking to just see anyone—especially since there might be a potential issue involving some viral warts... if my own diagnosis is correct, at least. :-)

Maybe try checking with your primary care doctor first—it's usually easier. Here in Chicago, some doctors actually perform cryotherapy right there in the office. For instance, mine does, so I didn't have to go on some sort of pilgrimage to find a specialist.

The situation with our healthcare system is just... well, it’s a mess. You have people showing up for scheduled appointments while they're actually under quarantine—it happens all the time because nobody seems to know the protocol. Since the hospital administrators haven't received any clear directives on how to process these cases, they just end up turning them away. They don't get seen, and then they just wander off somewhere else. I guess it's just pure administrative chaos at this point.

I completely agree, though in this country, I suppose even a wooden stove is a possibility.

Once it finally hits theaters here in the States, we could probably just call it "devil in a bag." 😁

Given how things are going in America right now, maybe more like "cat in a bag."

Since there are now over 20,000 people stuck in quarantine—which is quite a staggering number, I suppose—they've actually stopped issuing those reading materials, and even the local police aren't really conducting door-to-door checks anymore... mostly because there are just way too many people to manage at this point.

Exactly. If it isn’t written down, it basically didn't happen—that seems to be the rule. I mean, are they seriously expecting people to just follow isolation protocols based on a verbal command? Is that how this works now?
In my mind, the logic should be simple: you open an app, plug in your Social Security number, let the system auto-fill the rest of your info, hit print, and you're done. It shouldn't be this complicated.

neonbison6 said:It’s on you. Seriously—if someone finds out a kid should be isolating but they're still out and about, you could report it to the local health department. Then, you've got school officials breathing down your neck at home. Plus, what if your kid happens to have it and passes it to a classmate whose grandma or grandpa is really sick? You don't want that on your conscience just because your kid wanted to go to music class. Look, I'm totally against the whole COVID craze, but let's use some common sense here.

Even schools don't report physical abuse that draws blood to the authorities, so I'm honestly worried this might...
State oversight usually only kicks in for major failures in supervision or recurring issues after the Department of Education has already issued warnings. So, if this is just a one-off incident, I highly doubt they'd end up under investigation by the Department of Education.

I've been chilling at home for nine days now; I'm not looking forward to a tenth unless I absolutely have to.😁

I was under the impression we’d receive some kind of official written notice in the mail.

With some 20,000 people stuck in isolation, I mean, who's actually left to oversee all that...

Based on that article, I assume at least 50,000 doses have definitely been delivered. What’s left is just what was ordered and what we're still waiting on.
And look, don't get me wrong—I really do hope they actually arrive and that there's enough to go around for everyone.

crimsonranger3 said:That’s what I thought. I called my doctor yesterday and she said she'd have the paperwork sent over by 6:00 PM.
Suppose for some reason that 6:00 PM deadline passes and I get pulled over during a routine traffic stop—will the police actually see my quarantine status when they run my info through their system?

It depends, really... whether or not they’ve integrated that specific data into the app. In the healthcare sector—you know, like at the local clinics, hospitals, or even pharmacies—it’s set up so that as soon as a patient is checked in, an alert pops up automatically if they're under isolation.

Michelle Evans said:Given that the news reported just a few days ago that they ordered a total of 590,000 doses, this prioritization seems a bit strange... especially since they're leaving out people who usually qualify for free shots and have been getting them regularly...

Well, they could order a million doses for all we care, but the real question is how many actually end up being delivered. Demand is up globally this season, so I suppose it’s unlikely everyone will get exactly what they asked for.

It probably includes the 18th—I guess. When exactly did the quarantine start?

It’s pretty obvious there’s a massive surge this year—so much so, I suppose, that they'll have to start triaging patients based on priority levels since there simply won't be enough vaccines to go around for everyone.
