I’ve got them on ignore, but honestly, I'm done posting about it because I don't need someone stalking my every move... Not like I care much anyway.

Uh... damn. Is there actually an option to just block someone?

If I put someone on my ignore list, will they still be able to see my posts?

I don't care what you think. You're just being insulting without actually making a point, and clearly, you have no idea how to use an emoji...

Aaron Booth2 said:It’s like if I went to Small Town, USA and then complained to some random lady on a major news network about how women there think our kites suck...

That is a completely different issue.

This is a violation of human rights.

P.S. And who are you to tell me where I should hang out on this site? For your information, I avoid that trashy corner of Reddit because I don't want to waste my time on nonsense. But if you click "new posts," everything shows up regardless of the category, and wouldn't you know it—you actually opened a thread just to mock us.

I saw on Facebook that Reddit is being branded as a homophobic gathering spot for hicks. If Anderlon wants that kind of publicity just to protect one shameless little corner, be my guest! Honestly, go ahead and open even more threads about gay topics just so you can spit on us. It’s easy enough to go from Facebook straight to the local news...

That's all.

P.S. Also, putting smileys on a new line gets you penalized here. And how could you possibly have an opinion with only 12 posts? 🙂 At least we know you're a bot.

This is all happening over on M. K., which is always a mess.

Since there’s zero actual moderation there—and honestly, the mods are basically joining in on the trolling and mocking—I figured I’d have to bring this up here instead.

It is totally wrong to label gay people as "sick" or to bring up places like Small Town, USA in that kind of context. It's disgusting.

The whole vibe of the discussion makes it sound like they're talking about mutants.

It’s just not okay. Even if this was happening in M. K., where the tolerance for spam is through the roof and nobody keeps things in check, I’m seriously appealing to have that thread closed or removed entirely. Anyone with half a brain can see how messed up it is.

Thanks for listening.

Look, if the mods can't handle their business, they should just hand the keys to someone who actually knows what they're doing—like you, since you're active everywhere. And as for me doing their job? Yeah, right. I don't care enough about this forum to go out of my way to bail them out. They need to step up and pay better attention. Seriously. They'll ban someone over nothing, yet they completely ignore actual rule-breaking. It’s ridiculous. Besides, even if someone did try to call them out, they’d just find some excuse to make it look like they were right. That's how they always play it.

Nicholas King said:WTF, is faith really stopping you from giving any actual examples? I mean—honestly—this whole thread feels pretty pointless if we can't get into specifics.

You’re getting pretty cocky. Come down to earth and watch your tone with me.

I gave you a specific example. You want me to go hunting through old Reddit threads just to prove where it happened?

I don't remember her username, but I distinctly remember someone being accused of being a bot. Half the thread was just people trolling and claiming two different users were actually the same person, even though they weren't.

I suppose I should probably address this—though why anyone would bother with such trivialities is beyond me—but there seems to be some lingering confusion regarding my previous stance. It isn't that I am being difficult, per se; rather, I find it necessary to be precise when everyone else seems content to simply drift through these discussions without a shred of rigor. I might be overthinking things—perhaps I am—but in an era where nuance goes to die, someone has to maintain a certain standard of intellectual discipline, I guess. One can only hope. kaže:
And honestly, every single one of their arguments just boils down to "you're a clone." I mean, maybe they actually are clones—who knows? It’s all just some endless, repetitive loop. Come on, show a little respect.

So, I’m reading this here, and apparently—if you can believe this nonsense—it’s supposedly an issue when someone calls a clone a clone? Like, seriously, what the hell is that supposed to mean? Is there some kind of rule against stating the obvious now? I guess I’m just trying to wrap my head around the logic here, because it seems completely absurd to me. 😕

I would love to see one single, concrete example of this supposed "newbie bullying" you claim is happening on Reddit—specifically in the subreddits where I actually post—where someone brings up a legitimate, meaningful topic only to get absolutely slammed just because their post count is low. Seriously, when does this even happen? In my experience, if anything, it’s the opposite: every once in a while, a new face just shows up. I suppose I should probably address this—though I’m not entirely sure where to begin with such a fragmented mess of a topic. It feels like we're constantly circling the same drain, doesn't it? I mean, if you look at the current state of things—and I guess I am looking, because someone has to—it's become increasingly difficult to find any semblance of consistency in the discourse we see online. It’s almost as if people have forgotten how to engage in a meaningful way. Everything is so... superficial. I find myself scrolling through threads on Reddit, hoping for a shred of substance, only to be met with the usual mindless shouting matches. It’s exhausting, really. You try to make a reasoned point—using logic, mind you—and you're immediately met with hostility from people who clearly haven't read a book since high school. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but it feels like the intellectual bar has been lowered to a level that is frankly insulting to anyone with a functioning brain. We need more depth. We need more nuance. Instead, we get this endless stream of noise. I don't know... perhaps I'm just out of touch, but it certainly feels that way lately. So, they actually had the nerve to throw my post count back in my face—as if that somehow serves as some kind of ultimate proof that I don't have a life. Honestly, it’s exhausting. It makes me wonder, though—and I mean this quite sincerely—how people like that even look at someone who has actually accomplished something tangible, like writing an entire book, without feeling a sense of profound inadequacy. It’s just... well, I guess you have to wonder how much empty space there is in the lives of people who find such satisfaction in counting digital entries on a subreddit. 🤦).

It might be more accurate to say that the situation has become irritably inverted—to the point where even the most blatant, genuine trolls are being protected like prize-winning livestock. You end up with this incredibly small number of very... I suppose I should address the sheer lack of substance we’ve been seeing lately—it’s honestly exhausting. If we’re going to have these discussions, can we at least aim for something... productive? Or rather, fertile ground for actual debate instead of this constant, repetitive circling of the drain. It feels like every time I log onto Reddit to find some semblance of intellectual rigor, I’m met with nothing but shallow takes and empty noise. Maybe I’m just being too cynical, but it seems like the capacity for meaningful discourse has hit an all-time low. We need more than just surface-level chatter if we want to actually get anywhere with these topics. 🙄 It’s the same old story with these professional trolls—those users who pop up constantly, recycling the exact same predictable topics they used in their very first posts. You can spot them from a mile away; their "handwriting," if you will, and a dozen other little tells make them unmistakable. Now, look, I don't think it even matters whether a topic is based on reality or if it's entirely fabricated—it's kind of irrelevant whether a movie is supposedly "based on a true story" or just pure fiction. If a premise is framed well enough, you can actually have a decent, productive conversation about it. But the real issue arises when someone—who is either twelve years old or just intellectually stuck at that developmental level—starts peddling blatant lies that are inconsistent and factually hollow. And then you're left in this position where you have to deal with them (because, of course, there are rules in place regarding sanctions...) Playing pretend at being a CSI investigator... honestly, I guess it’s just one of those things people do when they want to feel important without actually putting in the work. It’s that whole fascination with forensic drama—you know, watching those procedural shows on Netflix and suddenly thinking you’ve got a better grasp on criminal profiling than actual professionals. It’s a bit much, if you ask me. People get so caught up in the theatrics of it all, acting like they can solve complex felonies just by looking at a smudge on a windowpane or some overly dramatized DNA sequence. It’s almost certainly an exercise in vanity, though maybe I'm being too harsh. Still, there's something inherently silly about people trying to inhabit a role that requires years of specialized training and actual grit.I suppose I should probably mention that you aren't allowed to suggest finding some other way to kill the boredom—though, honestly, given how stagnant things have been lately, finding *any* way to stay sane feels like a full-time job.

What is even the point of threads like this? There are really just two fundamental reasons why they fail. First off—and this is the big one—nobody likes being made to look like an idiot. Look at that recent segment on Fox News; you see a thread where the "author" gets a little too carried away and completely trips over the actual facts, only to then go ahead and loudly proclaim...Well, I guess I threw a bone out there and everyone just started swarming it like a pack of hungry stray dogs. There’s also that one author—you know the type—who stays relevant just by being as striking as those piercing blue eyes you see in all the Trumpian campaign ads. But honestly, there’s a much more significant issue at play here. When someone crashes into a conversation with some manufactured, overblown narrative—you know, the kind packed with all those "gritty" tropes like endless misery, trauma, violence, abuse, drugs, or booze—it’s almost inevitable that they’ll irritate people to their breaking point. And when that happens, folks end up taking all that pent-up frustration out on the next person who actually comes forward with a genuine, honest story.

Based on that—honestly, I almost find myself leaning toward supporting your suggestion—but only because of entirely different, fundamentally distinct reasons. 😁.

No. I meant that people shouldn't be accused of being clones if they aren't actually clones.

Or like when people assume user X is actually just user Y and start accusing them... I've seen all kinds of stuff.

Just look back at how things were in 2011 and 2012—the way mods and users treated anyone who registered back then. Every other comment was just "you're a clone" or "you have nothing original to say." Even if people actually were clones, you’d think they could show a little respect.

So, are we actually going to be more welcoming to the new users on Reddit? 🙂

How can you say that?

I’ve got a suggestion.

Let me know what you think—any ideas, complaints, or feedback. How can we make this Reddit look better and run smoother?

Reading Amtrak schedules is basically my hobby, so I’ve noticed everyone is complaining lately... But honestly? Someone actually deleted one of my threads on the mental health forum recently! Just thought I'd mention it.

Anyway, that's just my take. Amtrak comments

Why do we even let people spam this board?

This place is supposed to have a clear identity: the veterans who actually put in the work are here, while everyone else is just a carbon copy. If you’ve got 500 posts or joined during that 2011 surge, you're basically a clone. And apparently, those users don't deserve an ounce of respect—they get banned just for using a misplaced comma.

Honestly, the best move would be to shut down the spamming entirely, wipe out everyone who joined after the final second of 2010, and then you'll finally have a core group without all these clones. Maybe the mods could use the break to chill out, too.
Timothy Robinson2 said:It’s kind of like putting heterosexuality and pedophilia in the same category.😁

You're acting like suggesting most pedophiles are straight men—or saying most zoophiles are men—would be an insult. It isn't.

From a purely biological standpoint, heterosexuality, pedophilia, zoophilia, and even homosexuality are just different variations of the same basic drive for sexual connection. Because of that, it's perfectly reasonable to debate their prevalence, whether they make sense from an evolutionary perspective, and what the specific pros and cons are for each.

Sure, people will try to claim homosexuality is a disorder right along with pedophilia... I've seen it all.
Grouping pedophilia and homosexuality together is just nonsense. It’s honestly insulting.
bluemason3 said:I was drawing some parallels between homosexuality and other "disorders" during that discussion. The comparison holds water. There was no call for violence, no personal attacks, and definitely no hate speech involved.

It’s like we're being treated as second-class citizens here. Your hate speech is pretty blatant. 🙄
