So, I was thinking about Nicholson in *One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest* again... you know, that whole vibe where he just absolutely tears through the establishment like a hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast... there's just something about that raw, unhinged energy that hits different when you're staring at the screen, especially when you consider how much society tries to force everyone into these neat little boxes... it’s kind of wild if you think about it, how one guy can just disrupt the entire system of an asylum, or whatever you want to call those soul-crushing institutions we have over here in the States... anyway, I guess what I'm getting at is... So, I was rewatching *The Dark Knight* the other night—yeah, yeah, I know, it’s practically a cliché at this point—and I just kept getting stuck on Ledger... man, that performance was absolutely unhinged in the best way possible. It wasn't even just about the makeup or the weird little lip twitch, though that was creepy as hell, it was the sheer, chaotic energy he brought to the role that felt so much more visceral than any typical movie villain you see popping up in a summer blockbuster these days. He didn't feel like a guy following a script, he felt like some kind of force of nature that just happened to be wearing face paint and driving a stolen semi... it makes you wonder if anyone else could have stepped into those shoes without it feeling like a cheap imitation, because honestly, most modern villains feel so sanitized compared to that raw, unpredictable madness... anyway, where was I going with this... right, just thinking about how much better movies were when they weren't afraid to let a character be genuinely unsettling... So, I was sitting there thinking about that whole McGregor vibe popping up in *Trainspotting*... just kind of spiraling down this rabbit hole of how much certain personalities can hijack a scene, you know? It’s like when you see someone with that massive, unearned ego just walking into a room and suddenly the entire atmosphere shifts from gritty realism to whatever circus act they're running... anyway, it just makes you wonder if some people are just born with that specific brand of chaotic energy that refuses to blend in with the rest of the cast... which is exactly what happens when you drop a lightning bolt into a quiet room... So, I was sitting there thinking about Robbins and that whole situation over in Shawshank... you know, just ruminating on how some people just seem destined for a rough ride from the jump... and it really makes you wonder if anyone actually gets a fair shake in this country sometimes... anyway, it’s like that old saying, life isn't always a walk in Central Park, especially when you're stuck dealing with the system... turns out, things aren't always what they seem on the surface... So, I was sitting there, just staring at the screen, thinking about that whole Spacey vibe in *Se7en*... you know, that specific kind of chilling, calculated madness he brought to the role... and honestly, it just makes you wonder how much of that intensity is actually acting versus just tapping into that dark, quiet corner of the human psyche we all try to pretend doesn't exist... anyway, it’s wild how a single performance can just sit in your gut for days after the credits roll, especially when you consider how much better those old-school psychological thrillers felt compared to the flashy, CGI-heavy nonsense they pump out of Hollywood these days... but I digress... ...
I honestly can't decide if that ending was a total disaster or absolute genius 🤷😁 It’s probably just because the first hour of that movie is basically flawless, but then, unfortunately, everything just starts sliding downhill after that point...
Even "12 Angry Men" left me feeling a bit let down, you know? Like, you spend an hour and a half watching this one guy who seems totally set in his ways, convinced he'll never budge, and then suddenly he flips his whole stance in like two seconds flat... Not to be confusing though, because "12 Angry Men" is still a complete masterpiece overall...
So, you could be dealing with heavy periods—if you’re female, obviously—or maybe you just aren't eating enough iron-rich foods, though I doubt that's really the issue for most people... or, it could be a malabsorption thing, like Celiac disease or something similar... then there's polycythemia, where your iron levels drop because your body is basically overproducing red blood cells, but honestly, that's an incredibly rare condition to even worry about...
It’s been about a month, I guess... though honestly, I haven't really been using it consistently enough to actually notice a damn thing, and after doing a bit of digging online about that specific cream, it doesn't look like anyone is raving about it anyway... But hey, who knows, right? Everything is different depending on the person, and creams work in all sorts of weird ways, so everyone reacts differently... Plus, you can find a massive amount of these things at any CVS or Walgreens, so just try Googling them a bit... I know they have stuff from brands like Neutrogena or Eucerin, and then there's that Pfizer stuff... You'll probably stumble upon some people's rants or reviews on random forums if you look hard enough... 🤷
I’ve been messing around with some Pfizer cream, but honestly, I haven't really noticed much of a difference, and let me tell you, they are pretty pricey, $33 not to mention... Then there's those laser treatments you see at various med spas or dermatologist offices, and I suppose someone actually in the know could give you the lowdown on whether they're worth the cash, though I have a feeling they might be a better investment... 🤷
Grace Rodriguez10 said:it shouldn't be this much of a struggle to just ask a patient if they’re cool with students or interns tagging along for the exam, right? i mean, honestly, half of these endless debates wouldn't even exist if every single doctor actually stuck to basic common decency. the ones who actually follow the rules aren't the ones causing drama here anyway, and the students are basically just collateral damage when their mentors act like total jerks.
I don't know, personally I've yet to run into someone who just barges in on a patient without asking and forces an exam on them... 🤷 If there really are people like that out there, then yeah, they deserve to get called out and have the whole thing shut down immediately...
What really gets me is those people who refuse to cooperate from the jump, regardless of how polite you are, just because they're thinking, "why the hell does this kid need to see me naked"...
Bryan Nelson70 said:I’m right there with David on this one... I’m currently a sixth-year med student... Throughout my time in school, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. Honestly, some patients have been so incredibly kind and placed so much trust in us that I’ve actually gone out of my way to visit them during my own free time just because... People in our field aren't here to cause you trouble, believe me... If you ask me, the absolute biggest issue stemming from all of this is just a straight-up lack of basic manners among the staff—whether it’s students, nurses, or doctors—which is something I personally can't stand... A simple explanation or just using words like "please" or "if you don't mind" really does wonders... It is your absolute RIGHT as a patient to refuse any exam, procedure, or whatever else, including having a student present... All I ask is that if you find yourself in that position and you aren't comfortable letting a student assist, at least handle it with some decency and be POLITE about it...
Totally agree... 👍
And like David mentioned, the people making the most noise about this are usually the first ones to scream the loudest when a doctor actually makes a mistake, even though they wouldn't have the slightest moral ground to stand on...
It honestly terrifies me how some people here view us, like medical students are somehow the bottom of the barrel or the biggest headache society has to deal with... Look, let's be real, medical students are all different, and yeah, not everyone is a saint, but the vast majority joined this path because they genuinely want to help people, and most of them were top-tier students in their high schools and colleges back home...
It shouldn't be this hard to just say, "Hey, I'm not really comfortable with a group of students watching me right now," especially in an awkward situation... And don't even get me started on those "creepy" or "predatory" student stereotypes where people act like we're just sitting around waiting for a chance to see someone naked... 😉
wearyangler29 I didn't catch what you were trying to say there... looks like the thought just trailed off into nothingness... anyway, if you've got something actually worth rambling about, I'm all ears, I guess... How on earth could you actually fall for something that stupid... honestly...🙄😕🤷
I dropped the link to the schedule, and if you actually look at it, there weren't any finals lined up until 7:15 PM when the men's high jump was supposed to kick off... So, honestly, it seemed pretty obvious to me that they weren't planning on starting the broadcast around 6:00 PM like they usually do... ☕
wearyangler29 said:Does anyone happen to have some pics of that posing thing...
I think there’s actually a whole site dedicated to that stuff... turns out you can go down a massive rabbit hole if you really want to... just posing...😉
This guy who was playing the mascot yesterday is an absolute legend... I mean, first he's posing with Bolt, and then there's this video right here... 🙏

I’m just not following here—I mean, you look at guys like Robles, Xiang, Oliver, and Trammell over the last couple of years... and they're all athletes who have never even touched a sub-12.95 in their lives...☕
And regarding this South African man/woman 😁, I honestly don't get what the actual criteria are for deciding if an athlete is categorized as male or female... Like, what happens if someone was raised as a girl since they were a kid, but then based on certain biological markers—say, hormone levels or chromosomes—they actually turn out to be a guy?
rapidbison42 said:Let’s not get too deep into the philosophy here. Honestly, against an incomplete American squad like this, we’re looking at a 3 to 5 goal cushion easily. Even if they actually managed to get their full roster together, we’d still walk all over them without breaking a sweat.
But hey, whatever... if we actually had a shred of motivation today, we’d be world champions in pretty much every team sport under the sun. I mean, forget about it—we’d have guys absolutely dismantling Federer at Wimbledon, not to mention tearing through those South African girls or outrunning Bernard on a 50... just look at Vlasic; she’s the only one who occasionally shows a tiny spark of wanting to actually live, even if her technique is a mess... back in the day, she could've been clearing 7 feet easily if she actually tried...
you just can't win against this specific mindset... we are objectively better than the rest of the world, it’s just that we simply cannot be bothered... 🙄
Huge props to Balic, Lacković, and Čupić, but let's be real—about 90% of these wins were carried on the backs of just four guys: Valčić, Metličić, Vori, and Dominiković...
