So, I’ve got all my drivers installed and everything is running smooth as silk—everything works perfectly, really—but for some reason, the "switch user" option has completely vanished from my menu 😲
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Wait, is this for real? 😕
Do they actually ship to the States? Like, seriously though.
I see all these promo codes floating around... so I'm wondering, do I need to sign up for an account to snag them, or is there some kind of membership fee involved or what?
Thanks for the help 🙂

One more thing... what's the deal with OEM?

That whole thing with the Bah situation is hitting me pretty hard. For real.

Regarding that company you mentioned—hmm... I think I've come across that name before, but I don't know much about them, though one of the managers at Microton insists they are a solid company.
When it comes to the big players, Widex is a leader, and alongside Phonak and Oticon, they really are the cream of the crop in terms of options.

As for Suvag, there are plenty of other specialized centers out there. Personally, for all my testing and fittings, I've always gone to the audio center at the local University Hospital—I consider their audiology department to be excellent.
Regarding the issue of separating different sounds—unfortunately, unless it's a technical limitation of the hardware itself, there isn't much that can be done. We're talking about the technological limits of the devices; they simply can't separate all the incoming sounds the way a natural human ear does.
I also find it incredibly difficult during business meetings; in those settings, I spend a lot of time staring at people just so I can try to figure out which voice belongs to whom. Over time, I've learned to recognize certain characteristic traits of people, but that's more about personal adaptation rather than something a hearing aid can fix.
Regrettably, I can't speak to the features of modern digital aids since I personally wear exclusively analog ones: all those fancy little settings for reducing noise, boosting volume, or directional focus—I don't have them, so I can't comment on how effective they are.

About that BTE (behind-the-ear) device—that thin part in the ear is technically supposed to direct sound toward the eardrum. However, it doesn't make sense to me: if they identified the problem as being in the middle ear, how do they expect that amplified sound from the device to pass through the middle ear to reach the inner ear (where the actual hearing cells are located) to achieve comprehension if the issue is in the middle ear in the first place?!?🤷

I still think he’d be an excellent candidate for the Baha system. I actually spent some time chatting with a lady today who uses one, and it was honestly mind-blowing hearing her explain how she can pinpoint exactly where a sound is coming from even with just a single device 😛 my deep respect.....

You keep bringing up this issue regarding sound clarity—could you dive a little deeper into that?
See, there is a massive difference between struggling to understand any sound at all (like someone speaking directly to you one-on-one) versus the struggle of picking out a single voice in a crowded room. That second scenario is actually pretty common and usually just comes down to the technical limitations of the device itself. However, if it's the first one—where you simply can't make sense of speech even in a quiet setting 🙄—that's a major red flag indicating the device is completely wrong for you. 👎

I don't know... I just get this nagging feeling like they aren't even 100% focused on what I'm actually saying. It’s like—get this—they aren't even listening to the full story before they start jumping to conclusions based on maybe two sentences? And there I am, trying to explain my whole situation from start to finish, but they’ve already decided they know everything—throwing out diagnoses and whatnot—when I haven't even finished describing the damn problem yet. Seriously, what is that? 🤷
Yeah, exactly. The whole mess is actually rooted in the middle ear.

Look, if everything is absolutely perfect—I mean, we’re talking one-on-one, sitting face-to-face in a dead-silent room with zero background noise—then yeah, I can catch every single word at 100%. No mistakes, no nothing. But let's be real, who actually lives in those conditions?
Honestly, once there’s more than a couple of people at the table, I'm basically toast—I just can't keep up. It becomes this massive struggle trying to catch every single word someone says, and the second someone jumps into the conversation? Total meltdown. If it's a group discussion... yeah, I'm completely lost. And don't even get me started on trying to hear anything in a loud restaurant, sitting out on a patio next to a busy highway, or being in a club... forget it. Just total white noise. ☕ So, just to clear things up—these are all cases where they aren't using an Apparatus.
And honestly? This apparatus is just straight-up messing with my head—it’s creating total chaos. 😕 So, I’m out here on the road, and man, everything is just... loud. Like, aggressively loud. Every little sound is hitting me at full volume—it’s almost overwhelming. And get this—people are actually telling me that this is totally normal? Seriously? Is there some kind of secret club where everyone just accepts living in a world that sounds like it's turned up to eleven? Because right now, it feels like a lot. 🤷But man, being out in a crowd? That’s where the struggle really hits home again... especially when you're stuck in a room full of background noise and everyone's talking at once. It’s just a total mess.
So, there are times when I just can't make out what anyone is saying—like, at all—and I lose track of where the sound is even coming from. Half the time, I don't even realize someone is talking to me in the first place. It's like I'm totally tuned out without even trying. 😲 Honestly, in a situation like that—I don't know—I might actually be better off without it? 🤷)

Hey Ugly....it's me, 🙂
First off... seriously, thanks a million for all the replies 👍

I'm rocking a Unitron Moxi right now, in my left ear—that's the weaker one.
Before this, I was using a Widex CIC 2, an in-the-canal style.
Honestly? Neither of them has done it for me. That first one was tucked deep in my ear, fully digital, but every single time I spoke or even just chewed some food, the thing would practically jump out of my ear. A total disaster. I was hearing sounds I’d never heard before in my life, but as far as actually understanding what people were saying? Zero. Zilch. And to top it off, after every two words, I had to physically shove it back into my ear with my finger 😠
The second one is behind-the-ear, also digital (it adjusts its own volume based on the environment), with that thin little wire running into the ear canal ending in the attachment that delivers the sound.
But... my speech comprehension is still basically non-existent if there's any background noise, or if I'm stuck at a table with three, four, five, or more people (I usually just tune out immediately because I can't keep up), or even when watching TV (I can't even follow movies from the old US regions)... and honestly, the sound was better with my old device 🤷—cleaner and sharper. Look, let's be real... I spent a ton of time over at Microton trying to dial in the perfect volume level for that specific device... but we just couldn't get anywhere near it 🤷
And you know what the absolute worst part is? The folks over at Suvag told me this device was 100% perfect for my specific issue ☕ so I really don't get it—how can someone claim that's the case when it's their entire career, yet after wearing it for just two or three hours, I'm convinced it's actually worse than my old setup 🤷

I can't really dive into this right now—so I'll catch up with you guys sometime tomorrow during the day 😉
Hearing loss issues in Health ·
So, here’s what I’ve gathered... an operation in the States runs you about $30,000, but honestly? I am not exactly jumping for joy over what they showed 😲

I mean, that is a massive amount of cash just to wear some kind of permanent head ornament for the rest of your life—something you have to scrub daily with a toothbrush and pop antibiotics for just to keep an infection from moving in...

You’re basically paying for a lifetime supply of a trinket stuck to your head 😲😲 for that kind of money 😕
Hearing loss issues in Health ·
Thanks, Hey Ugly 👍 (that’s just a little nod to your handle, don't get the wrong idea...🙄)

The hearing loss hits both sides, though it’s way more intense in my left ear. I actually managed to snag this Apparatus through $333 via Medicare... otherwise, it would've run me about $1333...
And if I were to grab two... hm 🙄...I can get one at a discount through Medicare every five years, but I'd have to pay full price out of pocket for the second one 🤷...which isn't exactly a great plan, especially since I'm not even super thrilled with what I'm wearing right now (and honestly, wasn't feeling the previous pair much either).
Anyway, thanks a ton, 👍

How to treat a groin strain? in Health ·
cosmicmaker30 said:I mean, yeah... just rub some gel on there... maybe grab some Voltaren... or even one of those warming gels... like Deep Relief... then toss a heating pad on it and just rest... seriously, just pure rest for the next couple of days (maybe 2 or 3).

Thanks 😉
How to treat a groin strain? in Health ·
So, about three months ago, I pulled my left groin—nothing major, just enough to make me sit tight for a bit. I thought I’d rested it off, but honestly? It never quite felt 100% back to normal 🤷... then, naturally, I decided to jump back into some soccer games on the turf 🙄, and yeah, yesterday that decision really came back to haunt me.
I can feel that groin area acting up again. It’s not like a stabbing pain or anything, but it’s definitely sensitive enough that if I press on it with my finger, it hurts.
So, what's the move here? Is it smart to just slather some Biofreeze on it, maybe try some light massage, or am I totally off base?
If anyone’s dealt with this or knows what works, please let me know 🙂

Hey there...

So, I’m dealing with some massive hearing issues in both ears—specifically, my middle ear is pretty much trashed. I’m 37, and honestly, ever since I can remember (I had meningitis when I was four, and everyone says that’s the culprit), it’s been a struggle. The folks over at Suvag basically told me my inner hair cells are dead and there's nothing they can do about it 😢
My outer ear is also super small—like, when the specialists at Suvag saw my first device, they actually asked me who gave me that thing 😁 because they thought it looked like a tiny kid's model 🙄... even though it was custom-molded to fit my ear perfectly 😢)
The main issue, though... it's everything. There are certain sounds I just can't catch at all, others are muffled, and sometimes I can't even tell where a sound is coming from. But the absolute worst part? Understanding what people are actually saying. As soon as I'm in a group setting, I just shut down because I can't keep up with the conversation... or if someone talks from the side, it's game over. I find myself asking people to repeat themselves constantly (and 90% of the time, I get the tone right, but the actual words just don't make sense 😢)
On top of all that, I’ve got this constant chirping in my ears 24/7—it’s like being stuck in the middle of a forest full of birds in the springtime. It is TERRIBLE.
Slowly but surely, I'm losing my mind ☕
I laid all of this out for the team at Suvag, and honestly? Nobody gave me any straight answers. Like, WTF... if they can't give me answers, then who can?!?!
But the hardest part of all is having a little girl at home, she's only two and a half, and I have to ask her to repeat herself over and over again... it's such an intense frustration 😢

Does anyone know of any actual solutions for this? Maybe specialized clinics abroad or something similar? Any surgical options? Literally anything
I am more than ready to take out a loan and pay whatever it takes, because this is becoming brutally frustrating for both me and my family.....
Quadriceps tear: recovery advice? in Health ·
Raymond Jones5 said:I’ve been there, believe me.

It was the same story with rugby; I had this nagging tear at the top of my right quad😁 that haunted me for two years straight. Between failing to rehab it properly and nobody at the club actually giving a damn—either they didn't know how to help or just didn't care—I was stuck. Eventually, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I've been managing it myself for a year now without major issues, though if I jump into something without warming up, it still gets a bit tight before settling down.

In my opinion, the issue is staying inactive for too long and then overdoing it when you don't have the muscle conditioning to back it up. You can't afford these massive gaps in training. You should at least try to get out for a run once a week with some interval training, just enough to keep the muscle functional...

I'm pretty much on the same page about that problem 😉
Anyway, I've got an appointment with an orthopedic specialist in a week, so we'll probably do an ultrasound to see what's actually going on with the muscle tissue...

Thanks 👍

Not a single soul 😕
Should I have probably dropped this question somewhere else? Or is this the right spot for this kind of stuff?
Quadriceps tear: recovery advice? in Health ·
So, about 8 and a half years ago, I tore my right quad during a soccer match... and even after all this time, I still get this exact same—and honestly, super annoying—pain flare-up right in that same spot.
Sometimes I won't play soccer for months at a time for whatever reason... but every single time I do get back out there, I make sure to spend a solid half hour warming up and stretching (I played soccer and basketball for years, so trust me, I know the drill... I'm 37, after all). But without fail, the day after the game, that same pain kicks in. Then I’m stuck having to massage and stretch my quad multiple times a day just to get through it, and it usually takes about 4 or 5 days before things feel okay again.🤷
Back when the actual tear happened, I did about 15 to 20 days of physical therapy at a clinic in Chicago and everything supposedly went fine... but man, I really feel like something is still fundamentally messed up with that quad.🤷
Anyone else here dealt with something similar?😕
