The "Story Behind the Username" Game in Spirituality ·
That was actually about ten years ago.
I was in quite a mess... emotionally speaking.

But I truly believe that out of Chaos, when everything falls apart, something beautiful can emerge.

I’ve been through the ringer. I really have.😉
The "Story Behind the Username" Game in Spirituality ·
I truly believe we have the power to choose everything in life. There is always an option, a chance to decide what we hold onto and what we let go of. When it comes to my social circle, I’m quite selective; while I’m open to most discussions, I tend to shy away from debating topics I don't fully grasp. I suppose you could say I've always been naturally curious.
This is actually my second username... I can't even remember my first one. Back then, I just felt this deep need for a fresh start—a way to reinvent myself during that particular chapter of my life.
I once knew someone who didn't consider himself a DJ, but rather a "selector." At least, that’s how he chose to define his craft.
I set my Avatar to a woman holding a burning love letter, as a reminder that actions carry far more weight than words. It was my way of saying I'm done being swayed by empty promises.
In the early days, casualsailor6 was easily the most relentless troll on the forum. These days, however, I spend my time exploring various topics that I simply don't have enough time to dive into deeply.
What was the first band you truly loved? in Music ·
Guns N' Roses 😍
I honestly find it hard to wrap my head around this. It feels like nothing more than child's play to me.
If I’m interested in someone, I make sure they know exactly where I stand.
If someone brushes me off, I simply move on and clear them from my mind entirely.

There is a massive difference between someone being indecisive about their feelings and someone making it crystal clear that they aren't interested in a relationship with you.

Dennis Bailey2 said:My take? This whole idea of being "social" isn't actually normal.

Let me clarify my point. I’ve been there myself.

In the way our society defines "socializing"—especially during those formative years between 16 and 20—I never saw any logic in it. None. Just mindless drinking, puking, dragging yourself through clubs with deafening music that makes conversation impossible, smoking, weed, drugs. You can't even string a coherent sentence together. If you're lucky, you might manage a hug. Then you wake up at noon with a splitting headache. It’s not fun. It’s boring.

I didn't go through that phase at 16. I forced myself to try it at 24. It was indescribably stupid and even less enjoyable. It felt even more pathetic when it coincided with "hooking up," where you wake up the next morning trying to piece together what you even did after that twelfth beer. Pathetic.

I believe this entire phase is a byproduct of spiritual poverty. It stems from an inability to spend time on actual, quality entertainment—traveling, road trips, hitting the coast, heading to the mountains, visiting different cities... and a total lack of creativity to make those things happen.

Think about what actually interests you and fulfills you. You don't need to get wasted just to have a social life, nor do you have to be a hermit to maintain your integrity. Find an activity that resonates—art, sports, science, hiking, scouting, whatever—or join a volunteer organization focused on a cause you care about. That's how you connect with people who share your mindset in a creative, meaningful way.

I couldn't agree more!

I went out this past Friday, and I just found the whole concept completely unfulfilling.
It doesn't hit the spot anymore. It used to be enough, I guess.
Don't get me wrong, I still have fun when I go out. I really do, but that's about it.

I absolutely live for dancing; my favorite moment is realizing I've been lost in the music and sweating through an adrenaline rush for six hours straight.

But even that has its limits. Everything does eventually.

Matthew Anderson said:I have no idea who banned you previously or what the reasoning was, but we have a brand-new moderation team now, which means the way this forum is managed has changed completely.

Generally speaking, arguing "why was I banned before while someone else can post stupid threads without consequences" is a weak angle, but regardless, Sinnnke just received a warning from Apophis on that last ridiculous thread, noting that the next slip-up will result in an immediate ban.

Is that supposed to be some kind of clever comeback?

He's just one example.
Like I mentioned earlier, it really just got me thinking, you know?
Two years ago, I never got an answer, but now I finally have, so everything is fine.

Back then, a tiny mistake led to a permanent ban, which left me pretty shaken up, so I just wanted some clarity on it.

The main thing is that the moderation team is actually improving. lol

Well, at least that mystery is finally cleared up. 😁

rustydrifter10 said:If that's truly the only reason, I feel like there could have been a less heavy-handed way to handle it.

It felt a little extreme to me too, but I suppose it is what it is.

Thanks for the input.

rustydrifter10 said:Thanks. I looked for an appeal through the FEC, but there wasn't any clear explanation provided. I ended up searching Waste Management and found an old thread where you deleted the original post. Technically, that could be seen as breaking the rules, but since I can't see what was written before the edits, I'm not sure if there was some other reason for the ban besides that.

Here is the link for the admin staff.

I started the thread totally normally.
But then I had second thoughts and tried to wipe all the text—basically trying to delete the whole topic. To this day, I honestly still don't know if that's even allowed.

It was that "undo" thing when posting a thread. 🤷
The whole topic was just about some silly relationship drama I was dealing with.

Back then, the moderator just told me that I knew why it happened.
Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up is because Cindy is constantly popping up with ridiculous threads over at the EPA and hasn't been banned, let alone permanently.

By the way, that was my very first username on this forum. And I truly had no idea what she meant when she wrote that I knew why.

At the time, I just shrugged my shoulders and let it go.

So, I’ve actually been part of this community for quite a while now, even though I’m using a new handle.
I had a previous account that was permanently banned about two years ago, back when I was still figuring out how everything worked here. It was honestly just a mistake on my part regarding how to start a thread.

I truly don't understand how a permanent ban could be handed out just because I didn't know the proper way to format a post.

For instance, there is another user who constantly posts completely nonsensical threads on the EPA every few days, yet isn't banned—certainly not permanently.

I would sincerely appreciate a specific explanation regarding this decision!
Gum chewing and focus: does it actually work? in Psychology ·
Sarah Parker3 said:A few of my girls from college were running this study just the other day about tackling repetitive tasks while chewing gum. Since I was stuck in the control group, I didn't get to hear firsthand what those folks in the experimental group were actually saying, but based on what I saw, their results—you know, the ones who were chewing gum while grinding through those monotonous tasks—should have actually come out ahead. If I really need the specifics, I can always corner them and demand a full breakdown of the data 😁

You totally could have! Honestly, that sounds fascinating and I'd love to hear more. 🙂

I’ve heard people claim that chewing gum actually boosts your appetite—that having something in your mouth makes you want to eat more than usual.
For me, though, it works the exact opposite way. Whenever I'm chewing gum, I feel like I don't even need to grab a snack.

Plus, that little piece of gum really helps me focus; at least, that's how it works for my brain.

How much of this is just human psychology at play, and what kind of effect does chewing gum have on you guys?

I really have to give credit where it's due: Alexander Hamilton and ex anais are wonderful because their advice on Reddit and throughout the US is incredibly practical. They aren't boxed in by narrow perspectives.

But honestly, I got the biggest laugh out of this one user—they have such a unique sense of humor 😁 😁 😁 absolutely wild

positivax is also fantastic! 😁
Anyway, I'm sure there are plenty more out there, but these are the ones who stood out to me. 😁

I actually remember this one. 🤣

It was something like: Oh God, Oh man, Oh god, Oh Man, Oh GOD....😂 😂 😂

Listen, I went through an identical phase back in high school. 🙂
I spent my time buried in books, watching TV, and just lounging around—sometimes inside, sometimes out in nature with a good read, listening to Bob Dylan. Back then, that was my version of pure hedonism; I was just living for the moment and couldn't care less about anyone else's opinion.

During that stretch, my friends would call me to go out every single time (since I was always the jokester in my small circle), but I’d turn them down constantly. I just didn't see the point.

Then, eventually, I hit a complete reversal where I was out every single weekend. It was absolute madness. But even that phase passed. Now, I've landed somewhere right in the middle.
If you're happy with the phase you're in, stick with it—it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. And if you ask me, I think you're doing great. 🤣
