What was the first band you truly loved?

So, a random thought just popped into my head—probably doesn't matter much, but figured we could take a trip down memory lane:

Which band can you point to and say was the very first one you actually loved? You know, the one that basically defined your childhood or some other chapter of your life you’ll never forget. That one group where you hit play on a song after ages, and suddenly you're right back there... feeling that weird, light wave of nostalgia. It makes you smile, mostly because they were your first real obsession and they're tied to memories you aren't ever letting go of.

For me, it was definitely RBD. They totally shaped my childhood; all those old friendships, my first real crush on this girl I spent so much time with, all those specific moments. Even now, if I catch one of their tracks, I get hit with all that stuff.

Cold beer. I was probably sipping on my 12th or 13th one back when Slap was actually blowing up. The whole class knew Cimmer inside and out; it’s honestly hard to act cool when you don't know the lyrics by heart. I went out and grabbed their entire discography immediately and spent my days just living in it. The absolute heavy hitters for me were Cabbage roll, Training for dying, Will the circle be unbroken, Fur immer punk, Christmas carol, Sex without condom (you can tell I was just a hormone-driven teenager 😁), Kad ti život udahnem, and Cockroach... They really opened the door for me to get into the American rock scene, which led me straight into listening to Cooperative, Let3, Zabranjeno pušenje, Azra, and of course, Firefighters.

In my case, it would be Pink Floyd. But specifically their early days, back when Syd Barrett was still with them. What else can I say, besides maybe quoting him "I'm sorry I can't speak very coherently."
All those beautiful things in my life are tied to that era of theirs—that time when someone who actually believed in fairy tales poured everything into creating something that today's consumerist crowd just doesn't get. Not that it matters anyway...

I’m on the younger side, but I’ve been into RHCP since I was four or five. They aren't going anywhere for me... every track just brings back those childhood vibes. 😁

Thinking back to my early teen years—it was all about Rammstein. I think I was just drawn to the raw brutality, the twisted themes, and those insane stage shows... I remember watching that stupid xXx movie on VHS with that scene right at the start. It absolutely blew my mind back then. 😁 I mean, it probably did for everyone else too.
Back then, there was no Justin Bieber or One Direction, and the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC had pretty much already split up. 🙂 So, I ended up latching onto these guys instead. 😢 😈
Honestly, I haven’t loved any band as much as I loved them during those teenage years. 😍 😬

And even now, I still love them.

Just kidding—I'm nothing special. I was actually into Queen.

Black Sabbath and their classic album Paranoid🙏 Man, when I first heard that thing maybe 14 or 15 years ago, everything just shifted. I remember spinning it for the first time, and once War Pigs kicks in with that siren sound, that heavy doom-doom-doom guitar riff, the massive bass, and those drums... ugh, I’m actually getting goosebumps just typing this. Every single time I put that album on, I get this specific feeling that rises up from my gut right into my chest, oh lord yeah🙂 Going to go blast it right now🙂

If I really start digging through my earliest childhood memories, I think it would be artists like Michael Jackson, maybe some classic rock legends, or even early pop acts like NSYNC. As for international stuff, a bit later on, it was definitely The Beatles, Depeche Mode, a-ha, Michael Jackson, and New Kids on the Block.
I actually have a huge pile of things I loved, like those old soul tracks... 🙂...but that was just one specific band.

I know I truly loved them because even today, if I turn on some of that old domestic music after 20, 25, or 30 years, I can still belt out the lyrics and the melody perfectly fine.😬

If I really had to pick a group, it would definitely be The Blue Man Group boy band from across the pond. Just pure pop, I guess... what can I say? Those were the days. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about it in ages because, you know, life happens and you just move on. Who actually sits around reminiscing about what was going on ten years ago? 😕Not me, until a few months back when I found out that same band—they broke up back in 2004, by the way—actually reunited. It hit me all at once. Suddenly, these memories of being a kid come flooding back, how much simpler and happier everything felt back then. I actually ended up tearing up for a second. Just out of nowhere. 🤷I mean, it was all about The Blue Man Group.
I used to listen to ABBA with my parents too, but barely enough to count them.
