steelharbor9, keep refreshing that page, they're moving fast:

Javelin thrower Tugsuzila is in the mix.
Thanks for the links, guys!

Thanks! So we’re looking at a second round, but that medal... still up in the air, right?

How hard did it hit? Can't even wrap my head around it... can't commit to another half hour right now.

What do you mean? You can always just come in dead last and make an entrance that way. Like that one African woman at the Universiade who rolled in right as Chuck Berry was playing the closing set...

Harold Anderson3 said:Unknown is a straight-up legend in master's athletics... I mean, running a sub-2:04 marathon once he was over 35? That was a world record back in the day, if I remember right—maybe like three years ago. And don't even get me started on Edward Whitlock (R.I.P.). He was the oldest guy to ever crack the sub-3 hour barrier at like 72 or 73 years old. Not to mention the fact that your average Joe can barely scrape together 6.2 miles no matter how fast he tries to push it.

Look, I don't wanna go too far off topic or whatever, but I gotta weigh in here. We're talking about a guy who wasn't even a serious athlete—at least not after his early years—and then just kept at it. He didn't even start training seriously until he was 41. That’s what really blows my mind... not just the raw numbers, but the sheer grit of it. It kind of gives you hope, you know? Like maybe we aren't totally washed up and our real lives can actually start after forty... 😉

My dear friend, I see you aren't afraid to lean into the dark humor. 🙂

Yeah, I just looked him dead in the eye and said, "Man, where have you been hiding?! I could run a marathon faster than you..."

You know that old story... one of those legendary little bits from the NPR afternoon news back in the seventies or eighties? There were only two women left working in the entire newsroom at the time. Suddenly, this breaking news comes in—some athlete just smashed the world record for high jump, cleared something like 2.30 meters. They’re staring at the numbers, measuring it against the stats, totally skeptical... thinking there's gotta be a typo or some massive mistake. Then the anchor reads the headline out loud: "New world record set in pole vault..."

Look, I don't want to be the guy being politically incorrect here, but... man, you can just see the difference in build and leg strength when they were all out there together on the track.

silverhound38 said:Next to Gatlin on Wikipedia, it says he clocked the best time for anyone over 35... honestly, the whole table is pretty wild to look at.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't even wrap my head around the 100m dash... never was my thing. Back in my prime, I probably could've kept up with the fastest 85-year-old out there, but nowadays? Yeah, I'd be lucky to race a 95-year-old... man. It's crazy seeing 70-year-olds hitting the 13-second mark though.

Looking at the other stats, like the 1500m, most regular people actually land in the top tier globally if you look at the 70-to-95 age brackets.

Pretty cool chart. If I’m being honest, my abilities are somewhere around the top tier for women aged 80 or 85.
And check out Stanislaw Kowalski—born in 1910 and still running?! That’s insane. Those 90+ relay teams are something else too... major respect to them!

You’re totally spot on about Ramsey. I swear that voice sounded familiar, but I just couldn't put my finger on it... can't quite place it. And honestly, I'm not even sure if Blake Jr. is the other one. I'll try to keep my ears open today and see if I notice anything else.

Hey feanor, look, we all remember this stuff from our NASA days.

We aren't going to allow any more discussions about men's political rights here in America because it’s been proven a million times over that those threads just spiral into pure misogyny instantly. If that was your goal—and judging by your last post, it clearly was—then we're done, and the clone did the right thing by stepping in. Now, if you actually wanted to talk about a specific incident, like that stupid blunder from Nansi Tireli, and you want to dissect that one case or that particular politician... fine, we can go there.

Sorry, but I don't get it. So we just can't talk about that topic here at all?

I’ve basically got Stockholm Syndrome here. I used to absolutely loathe this guy, but now? I’m his biggest fan.

We "hate" them when they're the ones standing in our way. Honestly, we might still be "hating" on them if we were playing against the Frenchmen. But when you can actually step back and look at things objectively, you just have to tip your hat and say, "Damn, man... bravo." It was kind of the same deal with Hirscher back when Ivica was actually giving him a run for his money. Now? It's way easier to just admit the guy is a legend. You know plenty of other examples too...

Anyway, this whole thing with the Frenchmen kicked off back in '95 over in Iceland. Maybe people forgot that was their first-ever world title in any team sport. That's when the streak started. Always against us. Whether it's handball or football... who knows if all this would have played out differently over the last 20 years if we had been the ones winning in Iceland.

My money is on the fact that most of the players at that mentioned handball ATD are gonna be Frenchmen. Every single position.
